: the contact stated while driving 40mph through a residential area, the vehicle operated at a reduced speed and suddenly lurched forward. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the vehicle was operating as designed and was unable to duplicate the problem. Additionally, while driving 75mph the front tire blew out without warning. Upon initial inspection, there was complete tread separation. The tire was a bridgestone, tire line size of p215/55/r17.
I have had 2 of the 4 general tires that came on my 2001 Toyota Avalon fail recently. Fortunately neither one caused an accident. The first failure was discovered when I took my car to the dealer for a wheel alignment because the car was pulling to the right. The dealer informed me that the tire had separated and I had them replace it with the spare tire. I discovered the second tire had failed when I took it to a tire store because it was low and I suspected a puncture in the tire. I asked them to check the tire for a problem because I had experienced a slight front end shimmy between 5 and 10 mph. While the tire was being checked the mechanic discovered that the tire had a separation. These tires have only 26,000 miles on them and I have always kept them properly inflated and I rotated and balanced them every 6,000 miles. Have not checked the other two tires that came with my car but have not noticed a problem.

On 5/3/2003, my wife experienced a high speed blowout (@75 mph) driving a 2000 Toyota Avalon. She controlled the vehicle and there was no accident. The tire was one of 4 purchased 9/11/2002, and had about 10000 miles on it. The tire is a goodyear integrity 205/65r15. The tire tread with road surface casing intact entirely separated from the side walls. There was no evidence of prior damage such as nails or cuts. The other three tires were examined by the dealer and were found to be properly inflated. The dealer replaced the tire at no charge. My concern is whether these tires are safe or not. The dealer kept the tire. Please advise. We have a high speed blow out with no apparent explanation. Is there a past history?.

With at least 50% of the tread left on the tires (42,488 miles) the vehicle started to pull to the side of the road as well as the steering wheel jerked back and forth. Upon examination, the front tires were swollen in the tread portion of the tire.
