Tire Sidewall Problems of Toyota Avalon

Sidewall tire failed after 3 months. No hazard on roadway, sidewall separated while traveling at 70 mph causing car to go out of control with near accident. After inspecting tire it appears to have very little material depth indicating a defect by manufacturer.

I have tire size p225 / 45 r 18. Michelin primacy mxm4. The compalint tire exploded at 65 mph (the speed limit). The falure caused the car to swerve into the next lane which was occupied by another car at the time. My safety was at risk when I momemtarily lost control of the vehicle and others were at risk when I enetred an occupied lane. Problem was inspected and confirmed by mavis (formerly ntb) in keller TX. The only warning was that a couple of weeks prior to the incident while rotating my tires the mavis location found a bubble in the sidewall of another tire (not the one that exploded) that was in the same lot as the one that exploded. It was replaced under the warranty. I now beleive that the entire lot of tires are defective and have asked for a completely new set of tires.

Tire blew out, the outer sidewall completely came apart at the seams. There was no external pressure and there are less than 5,000 miles on the car. The psi was at 35 as per the manufacturers spec.

Kelly tire immediate and unexplained sidewall tire failure - traveling 65mph on I-95 near richmond, virginia at night (9pm). No injury nor damage. Passenger-side rear tire. No debris-on-road impacted. Damage so severe to tire - model is unknown, but chose kelly charger model to continue form submission. Hopefully, tire id# will identify model. No loss of control - continued to shoulder and replaced tire with spare.

New tires 90 days old approx. 1,000 - 1,500 miles used. Traveling westbound rte. 50 maryland at 62-65 mph hov lane. Between bowie exit rte 301 and exits for rtes 495/95, thread on passenger side front tire completely separated from sidewalls. Sidewalls remained on tire rim but thread was completely detached from sidewalls. Able to pull into grassy shoulder area, county police immeadialty came on the scene followed by sha vehicle assistance crews. Incident caused rain reflector to detach from vehicle. Pictures of tire and rim are available. Contacting tire dealer this day for resolution.

Flat tire, Jan 2011, while daughter was driving. Tire was separated at tread-sidewall on bridestone potenza, 205/60/16. I assumed my daughter did not pull over immediately and that caused the separation. Daughter swears over the bible she wasn't far from driveway (still in neighborhood) when she relaized she had a flat and pulled over immediately. The separation between tread and sidewall had me doubt my daughter, at least until July 2011. July 2011, took same vehicle to the same dealer that replaced the flat in January, (auto tire of st. Louis), for tire rotation, balance, and alignment due to excessive vibration in steering wheel. Auto tire immediately called me to state that three of my tires, (bridestone potenza, 205/60/16) were defective and need to be replaced. I asked dealer to show me the defect and the defect was exactly the same as the tire that was replaced in January, except not as severe - meaning the separation was only a few inches in length and separation was much longer on the tire that had gone flat. In January, I assumed the separation was caused by daughter driving after tire had gone flat. I did not suspect it to be a defective tire since bridgestone is a reputable company. The defects on the three tires replaced at no charge in July 2011 were identical to what was observed on the tire replaced in January 2011. The dealer, auto tire, did not make a warranty claim to bridgestone in Jan 2011as they should have, they treated it as a flat replacement and not a defect and bridgestone would not compensate me for the flat tire I replaced. So why am I filing this complaint? to warn other consumers that bridgestone is aware they have a defective lot of bridestone potenza, 205/60/16 and as a consumer you may have a flat and not know that it should be considered a warranty defect.

Michelin symmetry p205/65 r15 blew out at highway speed. Sidewall was completely separated from the remainder of the tire. Pictures available on request.

Michelin energy dot b97rewtx31, p205/60r16, xxe mvx4. Original tires on Toyota, Avalon, 2002 tire tread separated. Consumer states the tire that blewout had tread separation about 1-2 inches up the sidewall and it appears the blowout occurred in the sidewall.

Tread separation and then tire sidewall failure, caused sideways car skid on snow covered road, fortunately there was a gap in traffic at that time in oncoming lane and no one following close behind. (dot number: dbur aa45 tiresize: p205/65r15).

While traveling 35-40 mph on dry road conditions orginal equipment general hp 400 tire, size p20565r15, miles unknown. While pulling hard to left a sidewall blowout occurred. Tire dealer inspect tire and gave consumer credit toward purchase of a new tire.

Tire failed outside sidewall near joint between tread and sidewall. Tires near end of life 6/32" in center a bit less on outside. But still, never had a tire come apart like this before,danger on the freeway. . . Wife driving alone. . . I'm shaken. . . New tires immediately. . . Not bridgestone. Defective tires - 3 of 4 orginal tires have had blowouts so far in under the cars 9000 miles. All the holes looked the same in shape and size and have blowed out from the side wall. I have 2 of the 3 tires. I didn't keep the first one. But there appears to be problems with these tires so I kept the other two. I am concern about the 1 remaining orginal tire still on the car. Bridgestone potenza tires p205/65r15 92h tires developed a sidewall bulge. Mjs.

Continental general tire p205 65 r15 experienced a break in the belt in the sidewall.

Consumer noticed a bubble on the sidewall of his michelin tire (no tire information). Consumer was advised that the bubble in the sidewall was almost certainly caused by a traumatic injury to the tire, however, when the tire was removed, no evidence was found. As a result tire dealer offered a 25% discount on the purchase of a replacement.

Goodyear put the wrong rated tire on the vehicle which caused the front passenger side tire to leak from the sidewall.
