23 problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1997 Toyota Camry. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Since purchasing the vehicle, the consumer has experienced problems with the right front brakes, the brake shoes break and have to be replaced every 10 to 15 thousand miles.

The braking system has been a problem every since I bought the car. It makes a lot of noise. Sometimes grinds and vibrate. I have had it to the dealer 4 times for this problem. Had foot firmly on brake, changed gear from park to reverse, and while foot was still on brake the car started rolling and continued to roll until it hit a tree.

While driving & had applied the brakes, a loud, grinding noise could be heard. Took it back to dealer & informed nothing was wrong 1st time. The 2nd time noise heard, was informed a crack developed in front brakes & it was repaired. The 3rd time, noise heard again & again the mechanic said nothing was wrong.
