My daughter was driving our Camry to work on dry city pavement. She was going through an intersection (her light was green) when she was hit by a Cadillac escalade. The impact was hard enough it spun her around on a dry city street and made the car jump a curb. The escalade ran a red light. The side impact air bags did not deploy. Toyota said they behaved as expected.

After rear-ending a car at approximately 30mph, my seat belt released and air bags failed to deploy. My seat belt had been tightly locked in place otherwise it would have pulled back to "not in use" position. I could have been killed. I believe my car is unsafe in a serious accident.
My two sons were involved in a car accident to where my car ended up being totaled and what is disturbing to me is that the air bags did not deploy at time of impact. The brunt of the damage was on the passenger side which is where my 13 year old was sitting.

Car accident - October 8, 2015 - air bad did not deploy during a head on accident with another car. Place - islandia, new york - I was on the northbound lane of veterans highway on the right side of a two left lane turn to sycamore lane. I had the green left arrow and proceeded to make a left turn. A car from the southbound lane of veterans highway passed a red light and hit me partly head on while I was making left turn to sycamore lane. The air bags did not deploy during the accident and even the safety officers of suffolk county police mentioned this. The accident report is suffolk county police #zr44174vt6z3.
A car caked out of its parking space on the street into traffic as a was about to pass which made my car hit them in the rear and sent me into a tree and the airbags never deployed that caused me to have a concussion and spit my head causing me to bleed.

A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
I was recently in a car accident in my 2007 Toyota Camry. While making a left turn, I was struck by another car of the driver door the door was badly hit/damaged, yet the airbag did not deploy. As this was a double impact accident, after being struck on the door, the car went straight into a hydrant pole, striking the car dead center and causing extensive damage. Again, the airbags did not deploy. As I am not sure of where the sensors in the front are located, I cannot really say that they should have deployed. However, the impact on the door was sufficient for the airbag to have deployed. The police, emt and towing company all made the same comment. . . They were concerned that the airbags did not deploy. I also spoke to my insurance claim adjuster who also stated that at the very least, the door airbag should have deployed. He is currently still inspecting my car and cannot comment about the front airbags as of yet. If needed, I do have photos that can be provided. My concern is that had I been driving at a faster speed or had it been a highway accident, the possibility of a fatality would have been that much greater. With that said, I highly recommend that the airbags be investigated to see if there are any other complaints regarding the manufacturing batch. Although my son and I suffered extensive bruising, I am thankful that it was not worse.
The vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the rear wheel on the driver's side then made impact with an iron fence head on but the front air bags did not deploy.
The seat belt did not securely hold me in when the car behind me hit me, I was at a dead stop and was rear ended, the air bags also did not deploy, and my face hit the steering wheel. The force of the rear ending pushed me into the SUV in front of me, the car was totaled. I suffered a concussion, whip lash, wrist and elbow injury and lower back was hurt after the impact. I was wearing my seat belt thankfully otherwise I could have hit the wind shield.
Copy of an email sent to Toyota: I am writing to complain about an issue that just arose with my Toyota solara convertible. It is a 2007 vehicle that I love. I have taken care of it and drive it judiciously. I only have 31,500 (approximately) miles on this vehicle and have always taken it to the dealership at which I purchased it for maintenance, any recall repairs needed, etc. In addition to the above, this vehicle has never been in an accident of any kind, no matter how minor. The airbags have never been deployed for any reason. Now, for my complaint: about a week and a half ago, the airbag indicator light came on the dashboard. I called my dealership and immediately made an appointment to have this examined. Last Thursday, the 17th of may, the service man at the dealership informed me the airbag on the passenger side is not working, cannot be fixed and the system needs replaced. I ordered said system since I do not want to be without the airbag protection. However… I am very upset about having to spend $700 to replace this needed system when nothing occurred to cause this system to fail. I know I need it and feel that I have tried to take care of the car and have not abused it. I realize regular maintenance is necessary and some things occasionally need to be replaced, such as, tires, brakes, etc. But an airbag system? really? my other car is a 2009 Toyota rav 4 and I have also tried to care for this vehicle. I have never had an issue with the airbag in the rav 4 or any other car I have had in the past (since airbags were first installed in cars). This really, really upsets me!!! I and my husband are retirees and on a fixed income and really feel the expense for this item is horrible and wonder why something like this isn’t covered by Toyota.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into an unknown object. The vehicle then rolled over three times. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the left finger, neck, back, and head. A police report was not filed. The contact was not transported to the hospital. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 120,000.
My daughter was traveling 55 mph on a 4-lane highway in her 2007 Toyota Camry le. A truck behind her attempting to change lanes rear-ended her and caused a chain-reaction crash involving 5 vehicles. The Toyota sustained heavy damage to the back and front of the vehicle and was deemed a total loss. All of the Toyota's airbags failed to deploy. The truck's airbags were deployed as well as the BMW. The SUV's airbags did not deploy (it was an earlier model SUV). My daughter was transported to the emergency room where it was determined that she sustained a severe whiplash injury to her neck and a bruised arm. She later complained of pain radiating down her back. Please refer to recall id #06v096000 - air bags recall date: April 03, 2006. We were not informed of the airbag recall. We received a reply from Toyota suggesting that the impact did not occur in the proper position for the airbags to deploy what is the purpose of airbags if it fails to deploy during an accident and the sensors need to be hit in a certain position? a copy of the Toyota letter may be provided to the NHTSA upon request. Please provide any information concerning collisions where the airbags did not deploy.
I rear-ended another vehicle traveling at no less than 35mph. The impact was severe enough that my insurance company has indicated that the car will probably be deemed totaled. My airbags failed to deploy and I sustained soft tissue injuries to my neck and shoulders. I reiterate that no airbag in my vehicle deployed, in spite of the speed and severity of the crash.
When driving on the no 1 lane (by the carpool lane), an SUV crossed the double yellow lines and rear ended my left side at approximate 40mph. My passengers were shaken up while I was taken to the er. I did noticed that my airbags did not deploy. After the accident I did some searching and came to find out that airbags for this particular model do not deploy!!! not to mentioned that prior to this finding, I had taken my car back to the dealer for an accelerator issue. Also pending is the sun visor recall as well.
Driver of 2007 Toyota Camry was struck head-on by Dodge caravan while travelling at approximately 30 mph. The off-center frontal impact caused moderate to severe damage to the front bumper/hood/engine area/driver side fender with slight to moderate deformation of the driver's compartment. Driver of Camry was fatally injured due to blunt force trauma to the chest which resulted in an aortic tear. Driver's supplemental restraint / steering wheel airbag did deploy, the side air bags did not deploy. . . Updated10/17/14 10/22/14 10/27/ bf.
On Tuesday 3/5/2013 while driving on a street with no stop sign/traffic signals (I had the right of way) another driver either failed to stop at the stop sign or stopped but did not see me and hit me so hard that my car was totaled ( the battery was actually loosened from the engine). My concern is that none of the airbags deployed. I realize that this incident was more than a year ago but I am concerned that this may be a safety issue with airbags failing to deploy despite heavy impacts (the other vehicle was a larger older work van).

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, another vehicle crash into the driver side of her vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured clavicle and clavicle ligaments, two broken ribs, a fractured sternum, and nerve damage to the chest wall. The contact also sustained injury to their right hand. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 36,000.
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry and the dashboard is melting. The dashboard towards the windshield is always in a liquid state and the rest of the dashboard is soft. In the sunshine and at night under street lights the dashboard reflects a glare onto the windshield that impairs the drivers entire vision of the road. Also on the passenger side of the dashboard the outline of the airbag compartment can be seen. I believe the glare on the windshield is a hazard and due to the current condition of the dashboard the passenger airbag may fail to deploy when needed. The dashboard has not been treated with chemicals that may have caused this problem. It has always been cleaned with a wet wash cloth.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving approximately 28 mph, the driver of the vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the air bags should have deployed upon impact. The police were called to the scene and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
While driving 2007 Toyota Camry, the car was pulling to the left. I tried to control the car. The steering wheel locked up, the car went out of control. Spinning and hitting the guard rail twice. The air bag didnt deployed, and the seat belt didnt hold or lock me into place while it was on. When the car came to a complete stop I turn the vehicle around from the on coming traffic, the brakes was giving out and the car was still steering to the left. I ended up in a ditch on the guard rail.
My wife was in a car accident with her 2007 Toyota Camry ~ air bags failed to deploy.
My sister whole family was involved in major accident was hit by 16 wheeler truck, last July 30,2011, driving 2008 Camry se airbag did not deploy. Car was first hit between driver and passenger side, with speed around 65 mph then drug by the truck for few seconds, the car flip one side did not roll over because thanks god it something to prevent from rolling over. And thanks god nothing happen to the whole family (4). I happend around 11 pm ang good thing they are all awake when it happend. My nephew even saw the truck when it is about to hit them. . To much light and really close. . . Then it hits them. But the big question seeing the condition of the car none of the airbag deploy. It would have been prevented some of there bruises.
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry lxe. A driver decided to move into my lane from the left, to avoid a serious collision I had to swerve to the right and hit the brakes. My anti-lock brakes locked and I had no control over the car as we skidded across four lanes and hit a concrete wall. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts (which were in use) did not lock us in. My wife hit the inside ceiling and the right window of the front door. I tried to find an attorney to go after Toyota but could not find one who had the guts to stand up to Toyota. There wasover $14,500 in repairs and as of today they are still putting the car back together again.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the vehicle was involved in a crash and the air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and the driver sustained minor injuries. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who confirmed that there was enough damage done to the vehicle to activate the air bags. The manufacturer was sent pictures of the crash and determined that the damages were not substantial enough to trigger the air bag sensor for deployment. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 74,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact was driving in a parking lot approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal was engaged and there was an unexpected acceleration. The brakes were applied with force repeatedly; yet, the vehicle failed to slow down causing it to crash into a brick building. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact suffered a minor whiplash injury; and sustained bruises on the right foot. A police report was not filed. The vehicle sustained substantial damage to the front end. There was also minor damage to the building. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
I hit a BMW. I was changing the station in my car and when I looked up I was too close to the BMW to successfully stop before hitting them. As a result, because the BMW was completely stopped, a domino effect occurred in that the two cars in front of the BMW were also hit. The damage to the BMW, the car I directly hit, was a back bumper that was slightly DE-attached from the car (moderate damage) and a the front windshield cracked. The airbag in the BMW deployed. My airbag did not. I was in an accident in 2008 where I was rear-ended. Again, at the rate I was hit, my car's airbag did not deploy. This is the second Toyota that I have bought where the airbag did not deploy. I worry that there was something wrong with my car's sensors.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact was driving 45 mph when a vehicle turned left in front of him and he crashed into the vehicle. The contact stated that the front fender was severely damaged. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the head and was transported to the hospital. A police report was available. The vehicle was towed by the contacts insurance company. The manufacturer was notified and advised that they would return the contacts call at a later date. The failure mileage was 16,000.
I bought a 2007 Camry hybrid from autoland (springfield, NJ) in 2007, VIN [xxx]. Recently I was in an auto accident (August 25, 2010) in which I hit a car in front of me. I don't have the exact speed of the impact but I would estimate it was 25-35 mph. The resulting impact resulted in a total wreck of the car (photos available). However, the airbag did not deploy despite the force of the impact being substantial enough to total the car. I was injured in the accident, with injuries which include a cut on the forehead from hitting the windshield and neck soreness. The car was recently serviced by Toyota, so teh the airbag system should have operated properly. Records available from the dealer. I was the only person in my car. No one else was injured. My insurance company suggested I contact Toyota, I had a very hard time reaching them and they do not have a email or web based way of filing these issues. When I finally spole to a representative, they claimed that the aribag functioned as designed. Apparently the rate of deceleration is factored into decision to deploy. I was breaking for about one second when I hit and despite my velocity at impact ( 25 to 35 mp) , the fact that I was slowing down was a decision factor not to deploy. I am an engineer and quite frankly I am surprised with this criterion for deployment. The person on the phone at Toyota could not elaborate further.
