1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2012

Car purchased new on 5/9/2007. Only 30,800 miles & had the oil changed. The car was squeeling. Mech. Determined the left rear inside brake pad was almost gone!! front pads/rotors fine. This is a case of premature rear brake pad wear that Toyota is aware of. They issued a TSB. There should be a recall & all work done should be completely free of charge!! now I have to pay $250. 00 to have the entire rear brake system fixed=2 rotors turned, 4 disc brake pads, & labor. Toyota is completely at fault.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

I have a Camry 2007 xle with 36k miles. I started noticing some brake pulsation when brakes applied at high speeds, over 60 miles per hour, specially on downhills. This sensation started appearing at around 34k miles. The steering did not vibrate at that time. I took the car for service for its 35k miles. Two days after the car was serviced I had a long drive and started noticing steering wheel vibration, some times more vibration than others. All when brakes applied at over 60 mph when applying brakes moderately to strongly. I called the dealer and I said that the car started vibrating after service. He said, they don't remove brakes or rotors when they do minor service to the car. I asked what the problem might be and he said that the rotors might be warped. They would perform a rotor resurfacing and possibly pads replacement, despite the pads looked over 7mm, quite new for replacement. I have read a lot of Camry complaints with warped rotors. The dealer said rotors cannot be replaced under warranty because the 3 year warranty has expired. I am upset because rotors should be not warped at 36k miles and specially when pads look in pretty good shape. Estimated job would be around $260. The car feels unsafe when breaking now. Toyota should look at this quality issues and offer replacement.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2010

Rear disc rotor and pads failed at 49,500 miles, when the front brakes still have about 60% remaining. It is unexpected at this mileage, to need repair/replacement of brakes on the rear. It most likely would not be found/repaired causing insufficient braking and improper handling in an emergency stopping situation. We were fortunate that we requested our brakes be checked by our local repair facility. Car had been at dealership 04/05/2010 without mention of brakes needing attention.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2010

A pulsation was detected in the brake pedal when the brakes were applied. It appeared that the vehicle's rotors had warped. Following replacement of the rotors and the brake pads, the same condition was observed at 45,737 miles. This condition likely increases the stopping distance of the car.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry and when depressing the brake pedal if going over a bumpy road or raised cracks in the street (essentially going from any "smooth" to a sudden "non-smooth" surface) the brake pedal becomes locked, then springs back and forth and the car lurches forward. I took it to the dealership many years ago and they told me I needed new pads. That didn't solve the problem and they've never acknowledged the problem exists.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2010

Brakes first began to vibrate/shutter when braking at 18,000 miles. Toyota replaced brakes pads and machined the rotors. At approximately 43,000 miles Toyota again repaired the brakes for the same problem. At 70,000 miles the rotors exhibit the same symptoms of having warped rotors that will again have to be reworked or replaced. Continuing problem that must be a defect on the vehicle. The vibration and breaking when traveling at higher speeds is increased and feels very dangerous.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2008

My Toyota only had 15000 miles and the brakes stopped functioning. I took it to Toyota and they stated it was wear and tear. However, because of the low mileage they decided to repair the brakes. They saud the brake pump was faulty. The brake pump is below the car and unable to be seen by the naked eye. Since 2009, I have had my brakes serviced 3 more times and the car now only has 60000 miles. The brake pads will not stop squeaking even if they are brand new.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2008

First experienced pulsing brakes when slowing on highway. At approx. 12,000 miles returned to dealer had rotors resurfaced. Same thing happened at 25,000 miles and just about every 15,000 miles. Had rotors and pads replaced at approx. 36,000 miles, and resurfaced again at approx. 60,000. Now have 78, 000 miles and have to have third set of rotors. This will be the fifth brake repair in 78,000 miles, either pads, resurfacing, or rotors. Yes, Toyota has a Camry brake problem.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2008

While car was in for routine 25k service, dealer advised I needed rear brake pads. Have since been advised by two mechanics that indicates there's a problem. Dealer has since advised a TSB was issued for this year/model vehicle.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the vehicle would shake when braking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the shaking was coming from the brake pads scratching the rotor. The brake pads were not worn however. The contact stated that the rotors were previously replaced twice. The failure mileage was 20,470 and the current mileage was 67,000.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2006

Complete loss of acceleration (up to 5 seconds or so) while making turns after having either slowed down, or completely stopped. Two of those times have almost resulted in accidents from oncoming vehicles. Complaint made at a Toyota dealership. They claim no recall information, but have indicated that it wasn't the first time they've heard of it. No solution given other than the 800# to call Toyota directly to make a complaint. Nice.
