general problems of the 2007 Toyota Camry - part 1

Contacted tmc and was told a recall was performed on my car in 2010 for excessive acceleration. However, after further investigation, I learned there was not one but two different recalls for similar circumstances(acceleration) and was not informed whether both were completed. I have had vehicle for approx. 5 years and have intermittently experienced the same problem. The last few weeks, it has happened more frequently and is becoming dangerous to drive! also, I was told, since the one recall was completed, tmc declined to address the recent problem. Is there a possibility the first recall was not completely sufficient for both. I hope I can get an answer, as I have run out of options. I don't believe I should have to pay for something that was supposedly fixed even 10 years ago! I would, again appreciate any help. Thank you.

Abs and vsc lights on the dash have been flashing on and off for the last few years. They always went off after flashing. 2 weeks ago they both flashed on and the warning message "check vsc system" came on with a loud buzzing whine. Now they will not go off. The brake pedal pulses back when applied and felt very hard. It took the car a long time to stop which is a safety danger. Took it to an independent mechanic and he diagnosed that the abs system has failed. He also mentioned that Toyota issued several customer support notices to repair or replace the unit but I did not get them even though I am the only owner and still resides at the same address. He gave me the notices and I went to a Toyota dealer but it refuse to provide any warranty work and wanted to charge me for another diagnosis, stating the notices had long expired.

When I purchased this vehicle there were no problems, no lights on my dash, the trim all matched and was the color blue. Then after having a falling out with some family members I started noticing problems with my hvac system. It started with antifreeze leaks then id fix it and the next week the radiator hose would be leaking again. I started really keeping track of everything about my car after that. Next I started noticing parts changed and parts missing. My vsc fuse block in the engine bay is completely missing now. Next I started noticing while driving my seat would move without me doing anything. The family member that I had a falling out with is in the hvac union also. While driving I hear some type of switch click on and a gas smell starting coming out of my vents. Also I noticed after getting an aliment done that someone had adjusted the aliment bolts over night it's very noticable. You can clearly see where someone ran new electric wires for something. I went to the police 3 the mea about the issue but no investigation. Please help.

Hi, in my car vsc light is always on, I got it scan as well but it doesn't show any code for vsc and abs systems. Toyota dealership also don't give any information about the codes. It's kind of very dangerous to drive with all the lights on the cluster. Thank you.

I was driving my car when suddenly the speedometer started going from 0-60 back and forth, the rpms was all over the place, the brake light came on and stayed on and the lights was going from bright to dim, there was a couple more lights aluminized on my dash. After googling the problem that nearly caused me and my children to crash, there is so many people affected by this same problem in the 2007 Toyota Camry. Why hasn't this been recalled or class auctioned. Also my dash board is sticky like tar.

Error code c1391 multiple warning lights like vsc, brakes, check engine, hybrid system failure. Vehicle has been repaired at dublin Toyota dealership under recall several years ago and the vehicle has failed again with the same fault.

My abs isn’t working properly prohibiting me to drive safely. The abs module had a recall but it had yet to be repaired and replaced. I need help. Thank you!.

I was driving on a residential street and my brake pedal got stiff and then got soft and I couldn't stop. I pushed the pedal hard and almost hit the car in front of me and then I felt a hard clack and it felt like I was hit or like I hit something. A loud high pitched beep continuously sounded until I turned off the car. All of my dashboard lights came on. And a continuous winding sound is coming from the abs pump.

The contact had a 2007 Toyota Camry loaner vehicle from the dealer. The contact stated that after the vehicle was stopped at a red light, the contact drove the vehicle at an undisclosed speed when the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The brakes seized and failed to stop the vehicle immediately while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle drove through an intersection and crashed into another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The air bags were deployed. The vehicle then crashed into two parked vehicles at another dealer, appleton motorcars sales & service (1221 w wisconsin Ave, appleton, WI 54914), and came to a complete stop. Appleton motorcars sales & service contacted the police, and a police report was filed. The fire department arrived on the scene and helped the contact exit the vehicle. The contact was unaware if a fire department report had been filed. The contact sustained contusions on her chest, right leg, and right hand, as well as severe headaches. The contact later received medical attention. The contact's passenger sustained chest pain and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The dealer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with their insurance information. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Abs brake actuator failed, this malfunction came out of nowhere, making me unable to stop my car and putting my life at risk. I have not seen any official recall on this from Toyota, but I’ve seen many people have this same specific issues on Toyota forums. The abs, brake, and slip light came on all at once while my car made a continuous beeping sound. This all happened as my brakes went out.

Had the vehicle progressively speed up at a high rate of speed was not due to the floor mats as that had been fixed along time ago on a recall before . I had to throw the car in neutral and then push the brake and power button for the vehicle to slow down safely ( happened twice ) . Both times not back to back on occasions months in between . Then one day had issues with the brakes and the vehicle not wanting to stop had the issue looked at by certified mechanic said my physical brakes on all sides front and back were visible sound and nothing to be causing the issue I was having . Just the other day started the vehicle as normal it warmed up went thru my day and then my radio still visible but sayin insert maps dvd ( that’s the only thing it would say or do ) then the vehicle after turning it off says check vsc system ( had certified mechanic ) come to home to inspect vehicle for issues ( car no longer showed this on dash) started as normal then next day while driving no brakes red triangle of death came up said check vsc again and brakes failed and I nearly rear ended someone thank god avoided the accident car then shut off ( car restarted then triangle once more immediately shut off ) car starts high idle brakes hard to push on mechanic says it’s a faulty issue with harness or abs pump and ecm components which may be causing the battery failure I’ve had multiple times and that the vehicle isn’t safe to drive due to this issue .

Abs module failure. This system keeps crashing despite having replaced the issue before. Please force Toyota to do a recall.

Dash cluster showed brake light and bas light on, tachometer and speedometer dropped to zero while going approx. 40 mph.

When driving both of abs & break dashboard warning lights are on, rpm meter will go up & down, temperature gage is down. Unable to be certain the vehicle safe to be operation.

On the dashboard there is “check vsc system” and then the abs and brake symbols. Took it at the Toyota dealer for a diagnostic and said brake actuator needed to be replaced.

My abs pump failed causing my brakes to lock up and totaled my car.

My brake pedal when depressed, when stopped, makes a loud noise. My car cycles a buzzing sound often, even when the brakes are not depressed. My warning lights : check vsc system, abs , warning triangle, a circle with and exclamation point and brake, all are continuing to light up on my dash. I took it to the dealer. Code c1391 (abs acrtuator internal failure). This is serious and can cause my brakes and steering control to fail. The manufacturer warranty has expired.

Abs module is making a lot of noise at all time while vehicle is on and now it’s harder to brake abs modules is failing.

Brake pedal is hard to press, speed odmeter does not work, safty belt warraning light does not work, abs dash light stays on.

My car has a mileage of about 178k and just recently got a "check vsc system" which apparently affects brakes and also manages stability in case of hazardous road conditions. Across the internet, people also have reported the same issue and in some cases, people have had brakes locking up once this warning came up. Per a recall from Toyota, this is being fixed by the manufacturer only within a certain date and mileage and I dont fall into either of these criteria. The part itself is very expensive to afford right now. . . Would be appreciative if the manufacturer can provide a way to fix this for a nominal cost or for free. I had a rollover accident in my Camry on 5/13/2021. My brakes locked up which sent me into a spin and then eventually flipping over an embankment. Only one of my airbags deployed and it was the passenger door airbag. The rest of the airbags did not go off. Yes the vehicle is still available for inspection. My safety was put at risk because of the brake malfunction and subsequently because of the airbags not deploying in the manner they are aupoosed to. I rolled the vehicle I'm sure the manner in which h I wrecked would have caused all airbags to deploy. No I never seen a brake or a airbag light on my dashboard. No one else has inspected the vehicle components other than an insurance claims rep to determine my vehicle is a total loss. I'm unsure on who I could have look at it without compromising the integrity of the findings. The brakes however were worked on by jd byrider a week and a half before the accident. They changed my rotors.

Car has abc light on vsc system warning light, hard break, break stop working noise sound. Replaced in 2014 and now defective again.

Brakes gave out while on freeway. Extremely limited capability to break it took several seconds for car to stop.

Vsc check system is on at all times and my car doesn't start at all.

Had actuator on 2007 Camry hybrid replaced at 82,000 miles again at 127,000 miles and needs to be replaced again at 154,000 miles and Toyota will not assist with the $1600. 00 the dealer wants to replaced the same defective part from the factory.

The abs brake actuator, part 44510-30270, initially failed in January of 2021 while traveling on the highway from los angeles to san francisco. The vsc (vehicle stability control system) message appeared accompanied by multiple warning lights, followed by severely limited braking ability which endangered my family during high speed traffic on the 5 freeway. I purchased a used actuator on ebay immediately, it lasted not quite 2 years (it's 2023), it has now failed. I recently purchased a new used actuator pump again, and it has failed immediately. There is obviously a design flaw with this part, yet you (NHTSA) and Toyota refuse to address it properly. There is no reason why this device has not been recalled other than negligence. You need to reopen this case, and force Toyota to recall this part before someone is injured or worse!.

Brake aculator malfunction driving on highway brake wouldn't stop.

I got in my car to go to work yesterday morning and my car spead up to fast I wasnt on my gas cuz I live in a town n have a short driveway. So I go to put on my breaks n I couldn't stop its like there was no brakes. So I let off n slamed on them again befor I hit the road n I stoped barrly out in the road. My break light then was on. N it still felt like I had no brakes at the stop sign. So I pulled over shut my car off for 10 minute n started to head to work. Now my brakes was touchy but my break light was off. So I made it to work and when I got in my car after 7 hours it was fine like nothing happened. There has been other times where I have left work n my car switches from batter to gas n it speeds up but this time was differant n much faster in suck a short distance.

Vsc, abs, air lights are on. Makes a peak sound when I start my car. It stays for a long time and goes away. During this time break does not work as normal. Feels hard to press break and unable to stop the car. Yesterday when I'm driving suddenly sound came on and I was unable to stop the car as I normally can. When I try to press the break. Break does not apply.

I can not brake this car, this car suddenly moves forward violently when I urgently pedal down to stop it nearby our downtown. The abs system alarm appeared too, some noise occurred to abs assembly module. I towed this car to Toyota dealership, but Toyota refused to recall and said this care is out of their warranty service (it hits 13 years old and passed over 200,000 miles). I think Toyota had responsibility to care the safety systems. Please kindly help to deal this issue or advise, thank you so much.

I also had some mechanical auto-engineer(brake xpress auto-shop) check if anything mechanical issue happened to the brake hardware, but not problem to find out. I towed this car to Toyota dealership, but Toyota refused to recall it and said this care is out of their warranty service (it hits 13 years old and passed over 200,000 miles). The abs actuator went bad while driving on a city stree, the brake pedal became hard and the car didn't stopped, almost hitting oncoming traffic, very hazardous situation.

The abs sensor/module has gone out again. I spent several thousands in repairs and diagnostics years ago for the same issue. Now it has gone crazy again. The dash has been replaced due to being sticky. The car itself burns oil, we are constantly checking and adding to it. It seems several have had these issues and Toyota should be fixing them.

I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. It was raining lightly. The car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. It braked as another car tried to cut in, and I also immediately braked. My brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.
