36 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

I had the driver's side sun visor replaced at my own expense because ithe visor was rotating downward and detaching from the ceiling blocking my vision while driving. A little while later I received a "warranty enhancement notice" from Toyota about this visor problem. I still had the repair receipt so I mailed it to Toyota and they reimbursed me. Now it is broken again. It completely falls down with no support what-so-ever and detaches from the ceiling frequently. I have a string with a clothes pin to hold it partially up but my vision is still blocked some and the clothes pin doesn't hold it very long. This should not happen. I have not abused this visor in anyway. I still have the paperwork for the repair and the warranty enhancement notice letter. There is no number on this letter but at the bottom in tiny letters is ztt Camry n5e086-00000803-104 if this is any help. I live in a different state now but don't know if this makes any difference.

37 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2018

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the reflection of the sun on the melting dashboard created a mirror like effect, obscuring the visibility of the driver. The vehicle was taken to the dealer Toyota of turnersville 3400 NJ-42 turnersville, new jersey 08012, they determined that the vehicle had exceeded the 10 year warranty for the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,370. Bp.

38 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

The dashboard has recently started "melting" and has become sticky and shiny, creating a very distracting glare while driving in the sunlight that obstructs my visibility. Although Toyota had extended the warranty previously for this problem, I was not having this issue at the time the warranty was offered. When I called them up asking them to replace their defective dashboard, I was told my vehicle was "too old" to qualify and that I would have to pay hundreds (perhaps thousands?!) of dollars out of pocket to fix their own safety hazard. Safety hazards caused by Toyota's own negligence should not be the customer's financial responsibility to fix!.

39 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

The melting dashboard is causing tremendous glare from sun causing a safety hazard. Toyota is aware and had a voluntary recall, but I did not get the letter. When I found out about the recall, I thought date of first use was when I began driving the car, it is not. The secondary coverage for 10 years after date of first use was 8/3/17. I called Toyota on 11/17/17 and they said too late. I went to Toyota and called corporate on 5-30-18, but they would do nothing. I use a sunshield and car is mostly garaged, but it is the texas heat causing it, and I can't stop it. I recently saw this problem on the news with Nissan and Toyota and how dangerous it is. This is why I am not filing this report.

40 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2017

Vinyl dash pad is melting and glazing from sun exposure causing reflection onto windshield causing severe glare obstruction of view.

41 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2017

The dashboard is melting! this is impacting visibility by causing extreme glare so that it's difficult to see other vehicles on the road on sunny days. I contacted Toyota and apparently our dealership had the wrong city listed for our address which means we didn't get the service bulletin and now we are outside of the 10 year window because we purchased in Nov of 2006. Give me a break! this is one of 5 Toyota's we currently own and the reason we buy Toyota's is because they last. Our Camry just hit 84k miles and I expect it to last many years to come, but the dashboard is melting! we called Toyota today and they said "I'm sorry but you are outside of the window we offered for service" and "I'm sorry your dealership didn't properly update your address when you gave it to them. . . . But you are outside the window". This is ridiculous. How can a melting dashboard not be a manufacturer defect. It's makes visibility difficult due to glare and is a safety issue. Ours didn't become a problem until this summer and now we find out the service bulletin is closed. I see online people are waiting years to get replacements. . . . This is just totally ridiculous. The dashboard is defective and Toyota is not taking any responsibility here. These cars are built to last decades and to have a service bulletin and not an official recall is just wrong. We never received documentation and the problem became severely worse this summer. We're about a year past the 10 years as we bought our car in Nov of 2016. What can we do? this is a significant safety hazard due to the sticky goo that is now my dashboard. You just can't see out the windshield on sunny days, it's a travesty.

42 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

Recently purchased (Aug 2017) a Camry and noticed the dash was sticky and planned to clean it with an adhesive remover; however, it isn't just sticky it has actually melted and become shiny causing a blinding glare on sunny days and when meeting oncoming traffic at night. Contacted Toyota and the extended warranty ended may 2017 (told me it was illegal for them to help me now). Something that was deemed unsafe and needed an extended warranty recall issued is no longer unsafe two months later?.

43 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

There was a recall on dashboard on my vehicle and Toyota won't replace the dash now because they say that the replacement period is over now however I'm military and this happened when I was deploy. I have tried calling them however they don't have any answers for me. Thanks so much for your help.

44 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

The dashboard apears to be melting. Because the dash is melting it gives off a glare on the windshield that affect visibility while driving. It has turned into a sticky mess that no store bought cleaner can clear/clean off. I fell this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed as if affect the visibility of the driver.

45 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While operating the vehicle, the driver side sun visor would fall down and failed to remain in the up position. The failure created a visibility hazard for the driver. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (west berry Toyota in west berry, new york) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 81,000.

46 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

Driver & passenger sun visors have either fallen off completely and/or no longer able to stay up and out of way. This has occurred several times throughout the years. We've replaced these visors 2 to 3 times, at least once with dealer. Never notified of any recall throughout the years. Most recent incident occurred the morning of 7/18/17, when driver side visor suddenly became loose from its upward position and released to an unstable downward position. This sudden obstruction nearly resulted in an accident as the visor blocked the driver's view while the vehicle was in motion. Driver was able to avoid a collision, but was required to hold the visor out of the way before being able to pull over and try to maneuver visor upwards to lock in place to no success. Driver at that point had to remove visor for safety reasons. Passenger visor already fell off earlier on its own and now the driver's side has been removed; vehicle no longer has sun visors. Vehicle operator lives in central arizona with consistently "very high" uv index. The loss of visors makes this car difficult to drive during daytime, even with independent eye protection (sunglasses) as well as with he visors' unreliability to remain attached to the car's interior.

47 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

The driver side sun visor retaining mechanism breaks and the visor drops down and blocks the drivers vision. The driver must manually hold the visor up with one hand to see the road ahead.

48 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2017

The dashboard of my Camry is melting and giving off fumes that we can smell and could be hazardous to our health. We have developed a coughs since this happened. The fumes are coating the inside of our windshield and makes it difficult to see. I have contacted Toyota USA and Toyota japan and they refuse to do anything about it. The vehicle was in motion when we had difficulty seeing through the windshield.

49 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

Takata recall. . My 2007 Toyota Camry has developed a shiny sticky coat over several months which covers the entire dash. The shininess obstructs driving visibility and I have found nothing on the market to clean this area. The car originally came from florida and was garage kept when I purchased. Seems like some sort of manufacturer defect.

50 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

My passenger side sun visor keeps falling down and is impeding my line of sight while driving. The visor will not stay up and replacements seem to also fail per the site listed below. . Read more...

51 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

My dashboard is melting. I contacted Toyota and I missed the recall on the dashboard by 23 days. I can't drive car because the reflection of the dashboard causes a glare on windshield. Toyota tells me there is nothing they can do.

52 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

The dashboard melts. I went to Toyota representatives many time and they didn’t help. It is really dangerous when the reflection of the melted dashboard blinds the driver.

53 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

I bought my car new and I have never had a problem with the dashboard until June 2017. I took it to the Toyota dealership becuse I read on the internet that this was a defect with the car. I also never reveived a letter from Toyota regarding the dashboard. When I took the car to Toyota they said it was sticky and they ordered a new dashboard. I took the car in then got a phonecall from the service department that Toyota would not cover the cost because it was after may 2017. Now it is becoming a saftey issue becase of the melting it is reflecting on my windshield which is a saftey hazard when I drive the car when the sun is out. Toyata corporate told me they make no exceptions. What can I do?.

54 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The dashboard is melting in hot sunlight. This creates a very reflective surface that makes it almost impossible to see during a bright sunny day.

55 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2017

Driver side sun visor broke, it was changed by Toyota a couple of years ago but now it happened again. They just put the same defective part.

56 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Sticky dashboard. Causes visibility hazard due to shiny glare. Toyota did not notify ahead of their warranty extension. Right Toyota dealership did not mention after service visits. Toyota will not replace, says it is ,my fault for not knowing ahead of time that my dashboard would one day melt. Car has always been garaged and has only 55k miles. Shame on Toyota.

57 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2016

My driver side visor is down and won't stay up and blocking my view. It's annoying to drive with it to my left side. I called and they said my VIN was outside the warranty/recall. So I'm punished because a recall item didn't break when the recall was issued. I think if there's a recall it should be for the life of the car. I should not have to pay for something that was once part of a recall.

58 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

I did my monthly detail cleaning and my cloth kept sticking to the dash and I had not even put anything on it yet. Now there is a very shinny glare in the windshield and everything I use to wipe sticks and rubs off the texture.

59 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Sun visor at driver side failed to stay close, it just falls down and comes in between clear visibility during evening, cloudy or night driving. Tried to contact Toyota dealer, they refused about this defect.

60 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

The visor began falling while driving on the highway. I tried to put it back up but it was sagging and eventually popped causing to stay down unless I forcibly push it back up. It is a distraction and now cannot go back up with extreme force (which is causing the lining to come apart).

61 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

The sunroof in my daughter's 2007 Toyota Camry exploded. While she was driving, she heard what she described as a "gun shot sound". After noticing small shards of glass in the seat, she pulled over to the side of the road. After exiting the car, she saw that the sunroof had exploded! her mother and I left work to meet here and I could tell instantly that it exploded from the inside, out! luckily, my daughter was ok and able to pull over to the side of the road safely.

62 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

63 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

Dashboard melting. Sticky oozing every part of dash. Glares onto windshield like a mirror and difficult to see out of windshield. Cannot touch it w/o getting sticky.

64 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2016

My carmy has had the sticky dash problem for over a year and I finally did some research about it, only to find out that Toyota had a warranty program that expired a month go, 31 may 2017. I called them up and they promptly refused to replace my dash. There are still many cars out there that were not fixed adn this problem can cause distracting glare during high heat. Can anybody suggest a course of action? maybe potentially suing them to get them to repair more cars?.

67 Wiper problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

The driver side sun visor will not stay up. This part was recalled, but when I tried to get it replaced because I'd already paid to have thepassenger side replaced, service folks said it wasn't defective (and it wasn't at the time). Then around 2016 the visor started not going to the roof and would hang down slightly. Over the course f the next two years it got to where it was blocking my view. Toyota said the recall had expired so I had to remove the visor. Now I have trouble if I'm driving into the sun. Frustrating part is that had they done it when I asked originally I wouldn't be in this circumstance.
