The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. While driving approximately 50 mph, the abs and brake warning indicators illuminated; however, no brake failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to north hollywood Toyota (4606 lankershim blvd, north hollywood, CA 91602, (800) 800-6730) where it was diagnosed that the abs module accurator failed and needed replacement. 2 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

While driving or when parked, all dashboard gages (engine temp, speedometer, etc. ) drop to 0. At the same time, the "brake" and the "abs" lights illuminate. The indicator for park/drive/reverse is no longer illuminated, and the outside temperature indicator flashes between "e" and the correct temperature. In addition, the a/c fails to cool, despite all lights/indicators on the console appearing normal (no flashing lights to indicate a malfunction. ) all above issues will randomly occur - no obvious correlation to braking, acceleration, etc. At times, some of the gages will normalize, while others remain at "0. " in addition, some gages will fluctuate sporadically, or "bounce" up/down - not indicating true engine temp or speed. The problems will all resolve at times, seemingly randomly, and then reoccur - just as randomly. I have found numerous videos on youtube which document this issue, and I have noted numerous complaints on this website describing the same problem. After several weeks (on 11/14/14), I took my car to the local dealership, describing the issues and suggesting the brake actuator had failed (as I had read from other owner complaints. ) the local dealership stated that they had seen several other vehicles with similar issues, but was confused about the involvement of the a/c issue. (please note: I live in a city with a population of less than 250,000. ) after several days of diagnostics, the local dealership contacted a Toyota specialist in houston, TX, who confirmed that the brake actuator had failed. I paid $1932. 23 for parts and labor (that's including a 10% discount) to have the issue repaired. My vehicle was with the dealership for 11 days before it was finally repaired. I am concerned that so many people seem to have had the same problem, and that a recall has not been issued for a condition affecting multiple safety features of the vehicle.

3 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2013

I turned on my Toyota Camry 2009 hybrid in the garage and was immediately met by numerous warning lights, an audible warning buzzer, and a message in the dash message center that read "check vsc. " I was going to drive the car to a mechanic but discovered that when I backed out of the garage that there was no braking action. They had completely failed. The car was placed on a computer which provided error code c1256 and c1391. Both codes indicate abs/vsc/trac malfunctions. I brought the vehicle to my local Toyota dealer and supplied a computer print out of the error codes. The problem was diagnosed as an internal leak in the abs accumulator module resulting in a loss of hydraulic pressure to the brakes. Cost of replacement with labor was quoted as $3,700. 00. I did some research and discovered numerous complaints by other Toyota owners with identical problem I encountered. I also discovered that Toyota has redesigned the abs annunciator module. I contacted Toyota corporate headquarters in California who denied any a problem with the part. If they are unaware of the problem, why did they redesign the part? this problem is extremely dangerous as in resulted in total brake failure. I was extremely lucky that my issue manifested itself while the car was parked and not at 70 mph on an interstate highway in heavy traffic. One website set up by someone who experienced this identical problem had thirty five entries in the guest book. Everyone had the same problem.

7 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2010

I own a Toyota Camry hybrid, 2009. I am also experiencing the same brake failure problems that the Toyota 2010 prius is being recalled for. I noticed that when braking on down sloped roads, slippery roads, or bumpy roads, the car seems to accelerate while braking. This occurs for 1-2 seconds. It is a very scary feeling. Last week I narrowly avoided hitting 2 cars during a minor snow fall because while making a slow turn or braking the car again accelerated and the braking system failed momentarily. I verbally asked the dealer that I purchased the car from, and my neighborhood dealer 2 weeks ago while making a scheduled 15k mile service visit about the problem, but they weren't aware of it and suggested that it could be the hybrid system kicking in. A few days later I heard of the prius recall and was shocked when I read the reasons behind it. I am now scheduled for a service visit tomorrow at Toyota. At my last service visit they said the brakes were in good condition, but I think this is an electrical problem. Please investigate the Camry hybrids as well. This problems is reproducible and occurs every time that I am on a bumpy road and brake or on a slippery surface and brake.

8 Brakes Failed problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2010

I have a 2009 Toyota Camry that I purchased from darcars in silver spring, MD. , at the end of 2008. It is subject to the gas pedal recall and the floor mat recall, but I also have a separate problem. My brakes failed while I was driving to daycare/work on January 27th and I still do not know why. I was driving in downtown washington, d. C. , and my brakes did not work when I tried to stop for a red light on 14th street. I managed to avoid smashing into the car in front of me only because I was able to swerve into the oncoming lane, which luckily had no traffic. My car traveled roughly another half block before I was finally able to stop on the side of the road. It was quite scary, in part because I had my one-year-old and my three-year-old in the car with me when it happened. I left work early that day and took the car up to the dealer where I bought it, but they couldn't find anything wrong. At this point, though, I am scared to drive the car - especially with my kids - and I am thinking of selling it as soon as possible. I assume this is unrelated to any of the recent recalls affecting the Camry.
