The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking bay with a small inclination, the shift gear was shifted into park, however, the shift gear did not function as intended. The contact's wife was exiting the vehicle, the vehicle rolled backward and over the contact’s wife’s feet. The paramedics arrived and the contact's wife was transported to the local hospital. The contact’s wife sustained injuries to both feet and legs. The contact’s wife was taken to several urgent care facilities for severe pain and physical therapy. The contact’s wife had preexisting conditions; however, the contact’s wife was unable to walk due to the injuries. In addition, the contact stated that the failure had occurred three times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,032.

2020 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to unintended acceleration. The consumer stated while the vehicle was in park on a flat surface, the consumer exited the vehicle and it began rolling. The vehicle struck a refrigerator, work bench, and the consumer. The consumer was trapped under the vehicle for 30 minutes. The consumer's shoulder, back, and leg were injured. The injuries required the consumer to see an orthopedic doctor. The dealer and manufacturer were contacted neither could determine the failure. The consumer stated automated stop technology should have caused the vehicle to stop, but failed.

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact parked the vehicle in the residence garage. The engine remained running with the gear shifter placed in the park position. Immediately after the driver exit the vehicle, there was an unintended surge of acceleration. The vehicle crashed into the trash cans and garden cart that were in the garage. The vehicle engine was turned off. There were minor damages to the front bumper and front driver side door. The vehicle was taken to a collision center for the body damage estimate. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The failure mileage was 9,000.

Vehicle was in neutral ,struck gear shift by accident without applying button on gear shift, putting vehicle into drive, causing uncertain movement of vehicle. Owner is very concerned for safety.
