9 Brakes Failed problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

2007 Toyota Camry hybrid brake actuator failure. Toyota enhanced warranty extended the manufacturing defect for both time and mileage. The time frame has expired but the mileage allotment was not even close to end (only 103,000 miles on car). This defect should have been a recall since this is a common issue to numerous Toyota Camry's. They issued the enhanced warranty to reduce the financial burden of a recall and limit the number of complaints by only assisting owners who experienced this brake failure during their time frame. I am a senior who only drives the car to the grocery store. When returning from shopping, all the brake and anti skid lights lit up and we took the car straight home. We then took car to dealership the next day. I am being penalized because I am a senior who does not use their car excessively. The enhanced warranty time frame has expired, but the mileage allotment was not even close. This is a manufacturing defect and the car should have been recalled years ago.

I was stopped at a light. My car stopped but would creep up until I pressed on the brakes harder. This happened 3 times in a row while I was waiting for the light to change. I looked at my dash and it said something about check brake system. I went straight to the dealership and turned the car off. When they tried to duplicate it they could not. They pulled the information from the computer to find out my brake booster had failed? they are unsure if it will happen again. I looked up on the internet (NHTSA) to see if any other 2015 Toyotas had this same problem. It said Toyota knows about the issue yet there are not enough of them having the issue to do a recall. This needs to be a recall. This is a safety issue! my car has had all of its required maintenance.

Someone said the abs was only to prevent skids and even though speedometer is not showing speed, that no other problem such as sudden stop, or brake failure, etc would happen, complaints on your site show that other problems, can result, what can we do? my car mileage is 79,899. 19 Brakes Failed problem of the 2016 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/18/2016

I was in bumper to bumper traffic on the beltway going between 5 -10 miles per hour on a dry road. When I applied the brakes multiple times, the car would not stop and it continued forward until I rear ended the other car. When I applied the brakes, I noticed the brake pedal began to pump. Not sure if this was the abs in action but the car would not stop until it rear ended the other car. Only a scratch was done to the other car. There was adequate space between my car and the car that I rear ended and there were no skid marks just a collision. Brakes failed me on new car and was totaled due to all air bags in the car deploying. Internet says previous Camrys have had brake failures. I have owned 2 Camrys that I drove 9 years and 16 years and no problem with brakes. Again a brand new car that I had for 7 months and the brakes failed me. I have tried to hire a car inspector to inspect the brakes but have been unsuccessful. The government needs to investigates Toyota's brake failures.

21 Brakes Failed problem of the 2015 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/13/2016

I have a 2015 Toyota Camry le and there is something wrong with the brake and transmission. On August 13th 2016, I was backing out of a parking spot but instead of going backwards, my car moved forward. I tried to press down on the brake to stop the car but the brake did not work. These two abnormal mechanical malfunctions could cause to death or serious injuries. I was so scared to drive my car so I called the dealer¿s service department to inform them of this problem. They advised me to call roadside assistance to tow my car to their service department. Toyota only did a quick inspection and test drove the car. After, they said the car is in normal condition and the service advisor told me that I can take my car back to service when the problem still exists. This is ridiculous because if the transmission or brake system fails to operate properly while I am driving on the freeway or on a busy street, I would be dead or have serious injuries. I would never have the chance to take my car to their service department. Toyota never admits that their cars have defects or fix their cars. They will only be concerned about their cars after a fatal crash happens. Toyota did not guarantee that the transmission and brake will work properly after a certain time period or mileage reached. A fatal accident could happen to me or other people on the road any minute and I do not want bear any legal liability to the accident. I do not feel safe to drive my car and would like to file a complaint in case a life threatening accident happens to me and my family. Please help me. Thank you.

Three days after we purchased the car, we were backing out of our driveway, braked to stop before pulling into the street and the car wouldn't stop. We heard a clanking noise and it took extraordinary pressure on the brakes to stop the car. We had the car towed to the dealer, who, after inspecting the car and driving it for a day or two could find nothing wrong. This happened a second time approximately 2 weeks later under the same conditions. At that time, the dealer's service manager saw a notice from the corporate office indicating that there was a problem in some 2015 Camry's which were manufactured during a certain period of time. The problem involved the "brake booster" which was replaced in our car after the second brake failure. Within another week, the same thing happened twice again. We refused to take the car back and Toyota bought back the car and refunded the purchase price of the car.

34 Brakes Failed problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

While driving or when parked, all dashboard gages (engine temp, speedometer, etc. ) drop to 0. At the same time, the "brake" and the "abs" lights illuminate. The indicator for park/drive/reverse is no longer illuminated, and the outside temperature indicator flashes between "e" and the correct temperature. In addition, the a/c fails to cool, despite all lights/indicators on the console appearing normal (no flashing lights to indicate a malfunction. ) all above issues will randomly occur - no obvious correlation to braking, acceleration, etc. At times, some of the gages will normalize, while others remain at "0. " in addition, some gages will fluctuate sporadically, or "bounce" up/down - not indicating true engine temp or speed. The problems will all resolve at times, seemingly randomly, and then reoccur - just as randomly. I have found numerous videos on youtube which document this issue, and I have noted numerous complaints on this website describing the same problem. After several weeks (on 11/14/14), I took my car to the local dealership, describing the issues and suggesting the brake actuator had failed (as I had read from other owner complaints. ) the local dealership stated that they had seen several other vehicles with similar issues, but was confused about the involvement of the a/c issue. (please note: I live in a city with a population of less than 250,000. ) after several days of diagnostics, the local dealership contacted a Toyota specialist in houston, TX, who confirmed that the brake actuator had failed. I paid $1932. 23 for parts and labor (that's including a 10% discount) to have the issue repaired. My vehicle was with the dealership for 11 days before it was finally repaired. I am concerned that so many people seem to have had the same problem, and that a recall has not been issued for a condition affecting multiple safety features of the vehicle.

35 Brakes Failed problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/25/2014

My wife was driving her 2007 Toyota Camry when the "check vsc" error code came on at which time the brakes became very mushy. We took it to a mechanic the code showed that the brake actuator is failing. So now we will have to pay over $2,000 to get this common problem fixed.
