While driving out of my neighborhood at a low speed, the vehicle’s brakes suddenly stopped responding. I pressed the brake pedal multiple times, but it felt soft and failed to slow or stop the car as expected. I had to rely on the parking brake to bring the vehicle to a stop safely. Fortunately, there were no injuries or collisions, but this created a serious safety risk for myself and others. There were no prior warning lights or error messages before the incident. After researching, I discovered that my vehicle model and year have been associated with a known braking issue, as described in a recall for certain 2018–2019 Toyota Camry vehicles related to a vacuum pump or braking system malfunction. I took the vehicle to an authorized Toyota dealer immediately after the incident. The dealer confirmed the brake vacuum pump had failed, matching the symptoms described in the existing recall for other vehicles of the same model and year. However, they stated that my specific VIN was not included in the recall and refused to cover the repair under warranty or recall service. As a result, I was forced to pay over $1,200 out of pocket to fix a problem that is clearly related to the same known defect.

Contacted tmc and was told a recall was performed on my car in 2010 for excessive acceleration. However, after further investigation, I learned there was not one but two different recalls for similar circumstances(acceleration) and was not informed whether both were completed. I have had vehicle for approx. 5 years and have intermittently experienced the same problem. The last few weeks, it has happened more frequently and is becoming dangerous to drive! also, I was told, since the one recall was completed, tmc declined to address the recent problem. Is there a possibility the first recall was not completely sufficient for both. I hope I can get an answer, as I have run out of options. I don't believe I should have to pay for something that was supposedly fixed even 10 years ago! I would, again appreciate any help. Thank you.

I turned into a restaurant’s parking lot, found a spot and slowly drove into the lot, I eased off the gas pedal and gently applying the brake as the lot has a slight downward slope. When I reach the chunk (the parking block), I added more force to the brake, but I felt the brake pedal just sank, and the car lurched ahead, jumped over the chunk, and stopped at the curb which startled me. After I recovered, I put the car in reverse to return it to the right position (back up from the overrun chunk), everything seemed back to normal condition after that. Luckily, all occupants were unhurt, airbag was not deployed. I inspected the car after parking properly, there didn’t seem any visible damage to the vehicle, although I couldn’t see the chassis system which I believed must had a few scratches on the underside. The technician failed to update/recalibrate the on-board warning system since last time I had the serviced at dealer, mainly for oil change on 3/14/2025. So, every time I turned on the engine, there is a warning message displayed "maintenance required visit your dealer". This happened since the day after oil change. I thought it was the carelessness or absent- mindedness of the technician, so, I just ignored it. But don't know that has anything to do with this incident.

When slowly finishing my entry into a parking spot and braking the car suddenly accelerated to a high speed and bolted over the curb with a planter zone into another parked car directly facing my parking lane hitting the front passenger side. My car was still accelerating and hit another car to the left of the first parked car, hitting it in the rear driver side door. My car kept going until I was finally able to get the brake to work and it stopped just before another parking lot curb with planter zone. As far as I can tell the brake and or accelerator malfunctioned dangerously and suddenly. It could also have been a malfunctioning tps (throttle positioning sensor). I would like my car inspected to determine what caused this malfunction. While everyone involved said they felt fine. One person, in the first car hit, was sitting in the driver seat, luckily no one was in the front passenger seat. That driver said she was ok. The second car was unoccupied. This dangerous incident had no warnings or symptoms prior to the accident. My online research shows that there was a recall that included my make and year for sticky pedal, floormat, and deformed accelerator cable housing. These can cause unintended acceleration or unresponsive pedal. According to the Toyota website my VIN has no outstanding recalls though. I would like my car checked out because any recall repair, if done, may not have been done thoroughly enough to prevent the collision I experienced on September 28, 2025, some 15 years or so after the 2010 recall.

Pre-collision system malfunction, secondary collision system malfunction along with check engine. It appears to be a trend with 2018 Toyota Camry xse and higher model. I found that many people that own this model vehicle is experiencing the same issue even after going to a Toyota dealer and the issue still persist.
When moving very slow in my gravel driveway, slightly rutted with grass growing in the center, the emergency braking activated hard enough to whiplash my neck locking the front left wheel. My speed was probably less the 5 mph.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound while depressing the brake pedal, with the tpms warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brakes and parking brake had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that all four tires needed to be replaced. The tires and the brakes were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

I am writing to report a couple of issues with my new 2025 Camry le, which I purchased just one week ago. First, I've noticed a significant squeaking noise when I apply the brakes while reversing or parking. This is a consistent sound and is quite loud. It's look like there an issue with brake in new car additionally, the windshield wipers are making a lot of noise. I've never experienced this with other vehicles, including my 2022 car, which has much quieter wipers. The noise from the new Camry's wipers is quite distracting.
The vehicle is experiencing multiple active safety system failures, severely impacting driver control and passenger protection. The most critical issue is a persistent srs airbag malfunction warning, along with the system failing to detect that the seatbelt is buckled, even when properly latched. This disables key safety systems such as airbags and seatbelt pretensioners. The vehicle also suffers from delayed or weak braking response, despite having adequate brake pad wear. This is especially dangerous in stop-and-go traffic or emergency braking scenarios. In addition, the adaptive cruise control system intermittently disengages or fails to maintain distance, and the brake hold feature does not reliably hold the vehicle when stopped, causing rollback or unintended movement. These issues are consistent with known failure conditions already documented in the following recalls: – NHTSA recall 21v-890 – brake booster vacuum pump failure – NHTSA recall 19v567000 – occupant classification system calibration error however, Toyota has refused to acknowledge these defects in this case because the vehicle does not fall under the original recall VIN ranges. This creates a serious safety concern, as the same defective behavior exists outside the recalled population, and is being left unaddressed. This not only places me at risk of airbag and braking failure, but puts other drivers and pedestrians at great danger due to the potential for system failure during high-risk moments such as highway driving, stoplight braking, or crash avoidance maneuvers. A broader investigation into the root cause and expansion of the affected VIN scope is urgently needed before serious injury or loss of life occurs.
Low breaking power.
Airbag breaks.
I was driving close to a vehicle and brake sensor came on when I got too close. I was braking before sensor initiated and after the sensor appeared my brakes no longer were stiff and I heard rattling from brakes and felt loose/unable to brake properly. This has happened twice since the first incident and I only have issues when brake sensor appears.
The car randomly puts the parking brake on. I got to drive and the parking brake has activated. The car when placed in park has always made a noise, but prior to the parking brake thing, it started sounding like a squeal instead of the usual noise.

Low braking power message is on and brake to floor and vehicle does not brake properly cause: diagnosed concern, found vaccum pump not producing vaccum causing concern, inspected and found vaccum pump broken and camshaft broken, pieces broken off inside engine. States low braking power message is on and brake pedal drops to floor and vehicle does not brake properly.
I am reporting a brake failure issue that matches the symptoms described in NHTSA campaign number 19v-544 (Toyota recall for brake booster vacuum pump failure). My 2018 Camry has experienced loss of brake assist, making it difficult to stop safely and requiring excessive pedal pressure. Despite these symptoms and the known recall for this issue, my VIN is not currently included. This raises concerns that the recall scope was too limited and that my vehicle should be included. I have contacted both the dealer and Toyota corporate, and I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect further and consider expanding the recall. This is a serious safety issue.
While driving on may 10, 2025, with dynamic radar cruise control (drcc) and lane trace assist (lta) active, my 2025 Toyota Camry hybrid unexpectedly veered off the road during a curve. I immediately applied full brake pressure, but the vehicle failed to decelerate and continued rolling 600–800 feet. The braking system, including brake override and automatic emergency braking, did not engage as designed. After the incident, the car displayed warnings: brake system malfunction, Smart stop malfunction, electronically controlled brake system failure, and low brake fluid. No warning lights appeared prior to the incident. My safety was severely at risk as the vehicle left the roadway and struck rocks and brush. Had another car or pedestrian been present, this could have caused serious injury or death. Toyota’s product liability team and a contracted engineering analyst inspected the vehicle and retrieved event data recorder logs showing 100% brake pedal application with inadequate deceleration. Toyota confirmed the brake master cylinder was low and the left rear caliper was leaking fluid but denied responsibility, citing system limitations. The vehicle was declared a total loss by my insurance company (progressive) and inspected by an authorized body shop. I have extensive documentation, including Toyota’s denial letter and the diagnostic report, which are available for review. I am reporting this defect because I believe a safety-critical failure occurred and the braking system did not function as intended. The vehicle remains under insurance custody, and all records can be provided upon request.
When turning left right steering makes a cracked noise.

Abs and vsc lights on the dash have been flashing on and off for the last few years. They always went off after flashing. 2 weeks ago they both flashed on and the warning message "check vsc system" came on with a loud buzzing whine. Now they will not go off. The brake pedal pulses back when applied and felt very hard. It took the car a long time to stop which is a safety danger. Took it to an independent mechanic and he diagnosed that the abs system has failed. He also mentioned that Toyota issued several customer support notices to repair or replace the unit but I did not get them even though I am the only owner and still resides at the same address. He gave me the notices and I went to a Toyota dealer but it refuse to provide any warranty work and wanted to charge me for another diagnosis, stating the notices had long expired.
When I purchased this vehicle there were no problems, no lights on my dash, the trim all matched and was the color blue. Then after having a falling out with some family members I started noticing problems with my hvac system. It started with antifreeze leaks then id fix it and the next week the radiator hose would be leaking again. I started really keeping track of everything about my car after that. Next I started noticing parts changed and parts missing. My vsc fuse block in the engine bay is completely missing now. Next I started noticing while driving my seat would move without me doing anything. The family member that I had a falling out with is in the hvac union also. While driving I hear some type of switch click on and a gas smell starting coming out of my vents. Also I noticed after getting an aliment done that someone had adjusted the aliment bolts over night it's very noticable. You can clearly see where someone ran new electric wires for something. I went to the police 3 the mea about the issue but no investigation. Please help.
The vehicle will not start and is showing a warning message , " low braking power stop in a safe place see owner's manual".
The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Camry. The contact’s brother performed brakes repair on the vehicle and added prestone dot 3 brake fluid to the brake reservoir. The contact stated that several days later while driving at approximately 25 mph, the brakes locked up and the vehicle failed to move. The vehicle was taken to the brother’s residence by her brother, while driving and depressing the accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously. The contact’s brother flushed the brake lines however, the failure persisted. The contact’s brother became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 24e101000 (service brakes, hydraulic, steering) from the NHTSA. Gov website. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was cross contamination of the braking system and the entire braking system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was going down the road and suddenly my brakes locked up. I had no control of my car and I hit a telephone pole at 60 mph. I had the car towed to a Toyota repair shop and days later the guy told me it had been wrecked before. I was not told this by the dealership and nothing showed up on the car through carfax. The dealership had replaced 2 batteries within 7 months and I had taken it to the dealership because of the noise in the front end, later to be told it was due to the wreckage that was not fixed previously. I am now being told my Camry is being totaled.
Brakes under constant pressure took longer to engage. One minute later while pulling into parking stall the brake pedal went to floor and one pump immediately after it engaged. Simultaneously, the car accelerated and jumped a curb and one foot into the landscape. Had the acceleration continued and/or the brakes not engaged the vehicle would have hit a tree in another 3'. This tree was about 18"-24" diameter. One hour later cautiously drove to Toyota dealer who performed inspection of brake system, test drove, and scanned the computer system. They found no abnormal codes for the time of the incidents. They could not replicate the issues. There were no warning indicators noticed during the incident. Scan data and incident report sent to Toyota field agents confirmed the described problem was not found in the system.
When pressing the brake pedal a clicking vibrating sound comes from the brake pedal area. Per the manufacturer it is coming from abs system and is common for all the Toyota Camry 2023. This noise is definitely not normal and need to be assessed if there can be hazards related to this.
I am deeply concerned and appalled about the safety issue with the 2017 Toyota Camry, which rolled back while it was parked in the driveway of my parents’ house, and resulted in my mother’s foot being crushed. She is currently hospitalized and has been dealing with complications and damages related to this injury. At the time of incident, my father called 911 and paramedics arrived to the scene, and took my mom to the emergency room. I do not have a police report. This dangerous malfunction, which caused the vehicle to move despite being in a parked position, poses serious risks to driver and passenger safety. It is unacceptable that a vehicle of this nature could fail to securely hold its position, leading to injury. We are seeking a thorough investigation into this issue to prevent further harm to others. The vehicle is available for inspection upon your request.
I am the owner of a 2018 Toyota Camry purchased 08/31/2018. Toyota recalled 2018 Camry models built between 01/16/2017 and 09/13/2018 for a brake problem (internal campaign reference code jok/jld). My vehicle falls within this period but seems to not be included in the recall. I am writing to you because I have had at least six occasions where when parking the car and going very slowly the vehicle doesn't seem to want to stop. Recently, I could not stop the vehicle and it was stopped by a cement barrier and bush. I have been told in the past by the dealer (morristown Toyota) that there is no problem. Is it possible that my vehicle should have been included in the recall but was accidentally omitted.
Car wouldn’t start . It says low braking power.

Brake malfunction on my 2018 Toyota Camry and steering wheel malfunctioned causing my vehicles to spend on the freeway hitting a barrel and landing the car into a ditch. The car is not available for inspection it’s still at the tow yard. The safety was at risk for me as the driver was tremendously overwhelming and fearful. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by anyone. There hasn’t been any inspection to the vehicle that I know of. Yes there was warning sign; power steering malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, antilock brake system malfunction, ics malfunction, pre collision system malfunction. They first appeared 12-01-2024.
Low braking power light came on.
Car will not start. Instruments indicated brake system failure. Brakes are mushy. Brake fluid reservoir is full. VIN does not appear to be included in the recall for this model and year relating to brake system pump failures. However, that does appear to be the problem. 46,000 miles on vehicle.
