Insured was driving and pulled into drive way, the vehicle started smoking, when she opened the hood and toward the back of the vehicle, it caught on fire. Claim number 13-7008-586.
While driving, the insured noticed heat being generated from the brakes, the insured then parked the vehicle in the driveway and the vehicle burst into flames. Claim #05-4482-577.

This vehicle never had repairs other than a shock replacement on the passenger side and normal maintenence. The vehicle left home in the morning and with in 4 miles smke came out of the engine compartment. All the guages showed normal right before the engine quit. It then became engulfed in flames and actually melted the entire engine compartment. This appears to be a serious defect and should be investigated. Toyota will not release the cause of the fire.

Claim number 32-v073-594 - as consumer was leaving mobile station to have vehicle service for an oil change, vehicle engine caught on fire; the oil filter was missing and it was not attached to engine prior to the fire, examination of the flame patterns revealed that the engine oil from the missing oil filter sprayed onto the engine pipe and ignited causing a fire.
The insured stated that smoke was coming out from the engine area. Claim number 18-0283-122.
While driving on the highway consumer heard a loud ban. ,after pulling over consumer noticed there had been an explosion and fire.
When the insured pulled the vehicle into the road, another vehicle hit the right front side of insured's vehicle, after the impact, a fire appeared to have started from the passenger side and started to smoke then ignited. Claim number 52-2323-385.
Claim number - 25-5305-204 - while driving, engine began to sputter and would not accelerate over 60 mph, vehicle began to smoke, consumer pulled to right shoulder, exited vehicle and smoke got intense, two minutes later, vehicle was engulfed in flames, vehicle was towed.
Insured stated that while tow truck was putting the vehicle on the flat bed the vehicle caught on fire and burned the tow truck, the cause of fire was a sjort circuit. Claim number 75-a137-314.
(35-w173-913) insured had just started vehicle when it began smoking and then caught on fire, claim states subrogation recovery against firestone for a bad oil filter that caused an engine fire.

When driving the vehicle the brakes went out and then caught on fire in the engine compartment. The vehicle has been totalled.
Since the owner of the vehicle purchased the automobile, it has been pulsating/vibrating and hesitation when driving at higher speeds of 50 mph or more. The dealership has not been able to rectify the problem and consumer is unsatisfied with the performance of the vehicle.
The vehicle failed to start.
The vehicle would not start without stepping on gas.
Enigne noise.
Engine is having trouble starting, the problem is undiagnosed and is still present.
Cannot start engine and engine stallling due to idle spped control valve failure. Replaced isc valve 5 times since 1997.
Mech said failure of neoprene washer caused trans failure.
Dealer says car not serviced properly. . . . I have changed oil as required and contacted previous owner who says that he has done the same. No safety defect listed.

While driving there was smoke coming from vehicle. When consumer saw smoke stopped vehicle, and then vehicle caught on fire in engine. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything. Vehicle was completely in flames and fire department came and put out the fire.
The brakes are constantly squealing, I was told this is normal. . . . The car keeps dying when I am coming to slow down to take right hand turn. Has been dangerous problem, I drive through two rotarys, it has stauled around them. I am very concerned.
Consumer called complaining about having problems with the electrical system. Also stated that while driving the vehicle the vehicle started slowing down then caught on fire. Dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle had 70000 miles and there were going to get the vehicle as soon as they could. Ph.
Consumer also complains that while driving about 45-55 mph, there is a hesitation and slight vibration in the vehicle.
Engine surges at various speeds.
Consumer states that oil and other coolants sludged up in vehicle. Consumer had to replace engine. Mechanic indicated it was a manufacturer problem.
