1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/10/2021

Our 2019 Camry was taken in for service under the fuel pump recall and after picking the vehicle up after repair we drove the vehicle for 45 minutes and had a pounding headache, nausea and close to vomiting from fuel vapors inside the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and they stated it was ok. The next morning we woke up to our garage smelling dumped out gasoline and the inside of the Camry was overwhelmed with gasoline odor and vapors. We called the local fire department who had two fire department crew examine the vehicle and they agreed it smelled like gasoline inside the vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and they had a factory rep look at the fuel pump who stated as reported to us there was not a proper seal. We picked up the vehicle on 4/17/21 and on 4/20/21 as the shampoo smell was going away from where they shampooed the back seat the gasoline smell is now there again. The only way to properly fix this instead of guessing where the fuel leak is would be to use a gas detector that measures in parts per million and locate the leak and also likely replace the carpet at a minimum. We need your help in resolving the serious safety issue.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

The Camry started revving up to 1500 rpm at stop lights or when pulling into parking spots almost causing accidents, local dealer could not find issue after having car for a month. There is no check engine light or saved codes, I just notice the engine coolant temperature drop while its doing it so its an electrical issue. It happens every other day usually when warm out. I am too scared to have my wife drive the vehicle anymore and cannot justify selling. Hopefully Toyota will help figure this out. Dealer replaced fuel pump but it did not fix the issue. Also has hard starting once or twice a week, will always start on the third try if not immediately.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/20/2021

The car is equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating which could result in the engine running rough and the vehicle to stall, thereby increasing the risk of a crash during driving. Toyota has identified this problem as early as January 2020 and notified me in writing in October 2020, but as of today (Feb 21, 2021), it has not fixed the problem. I have not experienced the stalling problem, but I am worried that this could happen anytime while I am driving especially at high speed in the freeway. I am writing to complain because when I contacted Toyota on Feb 20, 2021, it has not provided a remedy or a fix to the problem, and it has been a year since it first identified the problem.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/11/2021

When I had left my house, I pressed the throttle and the car wouldn't go, it was coasting still, but its like it wouldn't go. Then, I pumped the throttle and put it all the way to the floor. It had finally went. This car also seems to have a massive delay when we press the throttle at stop lights. I have contacted Toyota about the recall, which they did not inform me of, I had to look it up myself due to the nature of the issues I was experiencing. Sure enough. Fuel pump showed up on the recall which would make sense to why I'm experiencing these issues, the engine is not getting enough gas. Not only did Toyota not inform me of the recall but they still have not found a "remedy" for the issue, while I have seen a couple people commenting on their facebook page that their had been fixed. Also, had found out I'm not the only one Toyota had not informed of the recall and seems to be a lawsuit currently because of that. I have a newborn. Whats going to happen if the fuel pump goes out with him in it?.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/03/2021

This recall is long overdue to be fixed. "if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. " the issue with the fuel pump was first noted in January 2020 from what I can tell. There is still no fix to this potentially very dangerous issue. Consider this an online complaint. I can't find anywhere else to file one. Put some pressure on Toyota. How hard can this be to replace? thank you, rar.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

Car recall for defective low pressure fuel pump. Recall was started in 1/2020. My vehicle was added in 10/2020 and I was notified on or around 12/30/2020. This is a very serious, potentially life threatening issue. Toyota has indicated a replacement part for my car may be available by the end of 2/2021. Not guaranteed. If I can get the replacement part at another service station, Toyota will only pay for the part not the labor. This is unacceptable and potentially life threatening. Toyota has known about this issue for a year. I made the decision to lease for the girst time so I wouldn't have unexpected repairs or problems. Toyota has handled this poorly and Toyota is not making customer safety a priority. .

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/27/2020

The car will suddenly stop. Initially, we thought that it was a battery issue. In fact, we changed the battery with a brand new one, it happens again. Two more times, I did own a Toyota car more than 25 years ago. It was identified as fuel pump issue. For sure, this is the case. Can I get a replacement for free on the fuel pump.

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. I have reported the issue several times to Toyota customer service and the dealership in cobb county georgia but nothing is been done. 13 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

There has been several misfires when starting the car, and the car sometimes goes into like an idle mode. The dashboard states 27 mpg, but I've been tracking mileage on a paper log, and the vehicle is really only receiving approximately 19 mpg. I looked to it to see what it could be, and after looking up active recalls, realized that it was symptoms of the fuel pump malfunctioning. I took it to scott clark Toyota; a manufacturer's dealer, and they refuse to remedy the situation.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/03/2020

My vehicle will stall and stops randomly. It is losing power at stop signs and stop lights when I hit the brakes. A few times it lose power temporary while in motion. It keep showing "charging system malfunction and stop in a safe place" message when this happens. It will go back to normal after 5 minutes and then the whole thing repeats a day or two later. I took it to Toyota dealership to fix but they concluded the car is alright since there is no check engine. But the problem is there and the car keeps unsafe stopping. My vehicle problem seems similar to those of January 13th 2020 "fuel pump may fail recall" NHTSA campaign number 20v012000.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/03/2020

When I start my car by pressing the start button, the car can't start and said ignition is not ready and many error codes show up on the screen, sometimes it takes 8 to 10 times before car can start and today it can't start at all, I went to check for the car cattery and it is fine, and we changed our key fob battery, but the problem still persists, some website said it is fuel pump issue, and I see some 2018 Toyota Camry is on fuel pump recalll but when I input my VIN, it said it is not under recall, so I am very worried that one day I will get stranded somewhere without notice and don't know what caused the issue, please help. This happens when vehicle is stationary before I start.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

I purchased this vehicle 1 month ago. It has stalled on the freeway twice. I am at 10k miles. The dealer is replacing the "bad" fuel pump with another identical pump! those cars considered part of the known recall get a different pump. So I am to drive this vehicle at my own risk.

Car stops working and runs rough and the dealer said it's a bad fuel pump but doesn't have a recall.

20 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 08/12/2020

Several complaints all reported to the dealer during regular service intervals. 1. Started the day I drove it new off the lot - clock radio was gaining 1 minute every week, dealer flashed system several times on multiple service appointments best it has gotten down to is gaining 1 minute a month. 2. On several occasions I would park the car for the evening 1-2 hours later someone would walk past the car notice a humming from the rear of the car, I'd go check sounded like the fuel pump running, insert key turn on ignition (not start car) turn key off noise was gone. Reported to dealer nothing found could not be duplicated. 3. Started around 25k miles - car is very sluggish, and jerky on slow gradual acceleration feels like a bad plug or fuel delivery problem, can be driving down flat straight interstate highway car will hiccup spit and sputter for a second or two then resumes speed. Reported to dealer during routine service computer didn't throw a code so nothing could be done observed 0. 1 mpg decrease in fuel mileage. 4. 28k-30k miles started car for work idled and shook horribly for 20-30 seconds just as I reached for the key to shut it off and drive my spare car it smoothed out and ran fine. Felt like a dead cylinder suspect a bad plug or coil pack once again reported to the dealer nothing found. 5. Car now at 38k miles fuel mileage has gradually decreased from max of 37 mpg when new now down to 35. 8 mpg without any change in driving habits or route. Since warranty is expired I will change spark plugs myself to see if the sluggishness subsides and mileage returns to what I considered normal for the car.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/27/2020

Vehicle was in motion on the interstate at 70 mph. The check engine light came on and the engine began to stall. I had to pull over on side the road to prevent from getting hit by an 18 wheeler from the rear. I was able to drive the vehicle a while longer before the engine stalled again. I had to get the vehicle towed to the nearest Toyota dealership. They reported an issue with the fuel pump. The dealership reported having many issues with the fuel pump for the 2019 Camry. On the date of June 29th repair appointment, they reported they fuel pump is on back order and they would not be able to get the part until July 22nd, 2020 due to so many vehicles having that defect. However, the part is under warranty and would be covered. As a result, I had to privately rent a vehicle without being offered a loaner car or a rental for 2 weeks. I had to spend approximately 1,000 in expenses to cover the cost of not having a vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealership in a remote area far from home and work. My disabled mother had to book a hotel to check the vehicle status the following day with my father. I've had the vehicle for 8 months with 29,000 miles. When I placed my VIN number in the system, my vehicle wasn't identified or qualified as a recall in the system despite the dealership confirming their were problems with the fuel pump and the description of the vehicle defect matching one of the 5 identified recalls related to the Toyota Camry. Based on my VIN #, my vehicle didn't qualify for any recalls, when I called the Toyota recall office, they reported my vehicle didn't meet recall standards . The kelly blue book reported 5 different recalls and their descriptions in relation to the 2019 Camry. I noticed the fuel pump defect/symptoms matched with my vehicle out of the 5 identified recalls.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

Check engine light came on and the performance of the vehicle is bad. Bad idle, weak engine, just the car is not performing properly. I used the scanner to see the code and I had more than one . P0171 p0505 p117b p0441 p0455 . Fuel/air mixture is lean . And I hear the fuel pump making that noise that indicates a bad fuel pump. It's when I put the key in I hear it loud enough and if I turn the key on it does it again. When I put it on p it revs and rpm goes up and then comes down, up again down again . . . When stopped at a red light the car wants to move and rpm keeps shaking.

23 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/13/2020

Often during acceleration, my car seems to sputter or misfire. When taking off there seems to be, as the only way I can describe it, an air bubble in the fuel line. Kinda like fuel isn't constantly being fed to the engine. There are gaps. While driving at a constant speed, this does not happen. Also, sometimes when accelerating from a stopped position, my car accelerates slowly and then all of a sudden, takes off as if its playing catch up. Although there isn't an active recall on my car, I think there is a problem with the fuel pump.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2020 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

Fuel pump needs to be replace. There has been a recall on my car since January and Toyota told me this yesterday. Fuel pump is defective and can cause the car to stall while in operation. Toyota stated they cannot offer a loaner or replacement vehicle and cannot give a eta for the replacement part as of now a replacement is not available. I am driving a car that can put myself and other drivers at risk of being injured or worst.

25 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/25/2019

On multiple occasions (about 3-4 times a week) when starting my vehicle the engine stalls and I have to retry at least twice for my car to start. At red lights the vehicle lags and takes a moment to pick up speed. Often in a jerking motion. When accelerating to speeds above 20-80 mph the stalling starts again and does not feel safe while driving. We notified our dealership about the issue when getting serviced and they stated they could not provide any information on why it was doing this. We have had this problem since December 2019 and has progressively gotten worse. Once we received the notification about the fuel pump recall we requested for the dealership to take our car in for the recall fuel pump and they refused to take our car and advised us to go to other Toyota/ Lexus dealerships. The other Toyota/Lexus dealerships told us to go back to the original dealership were we get are car serviced at have them take our car in for service. When we went to the original Toyota dealership where we purchased our car from, they still refused to provide a rental since we explained them how unsafe the car is while driving. We have tried emailing and do not get any responses. We also tried calling to speak with the manager but none of the managers have taken our calls or tried to call us back.

26 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

The problem is a faulty fuel pump. While in motion, the car stalls. It has stalled on city streets and on the highway. The engine shuts off. Toyota has a recall coming for fuel pumps on Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The recall is to be announced in March of 2020, but I'm not sure the 2010 Camry is included, but it has the same problem, and the problem occurs on a daily basis.

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

Engine stalling, as if fuel pump not working properly, when vehicle is in motion on city streets and highway.

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Toyota has known about a fuel pump issue with the 2018 Toyota Camry fwd and has not issued sent proper notification to resolve the issue. The NHTSA needs to require Toyota to issue an immediate recall with expedited solution. Manufacturer recall number20tb02 NHTSA recall number20v682.

29 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

My car will randomly stall after driving several hours on the freeway and sometimes will not start up. I am concerned that it will stall while driving on the freeway leading to a crash. My car is not involved under Toyota's fuel pump recall but I have verified that my fuel pressure goes to near 0 psi when the condition happens (former Toyota technician) and the symptoms are exactly the same as outlined in the recall. I have contacted two Toyota technicians from my local dealer and said they would not be able to duplicate it due to having to drive so long and as a result they would not be able to provide a fix for me. I would be tempted to purchase a new fuel pump, however if Toyota doesn't know about this issue on my car, the part will not be updated and will likely to have the same result.

30 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

On harder acceleration (such as pulling into busy traffic or on a highway/interstate when acceleration is key to safety) engine rpm at around 3000 rpm the engine loses power/car stalls but doesn't cut out until the gas pedal is let off and pressed again sometimes multiple times. No codes or dash warning lights. Dealership advised that the fuel pump was checked. Fuel pump was weak with low fuel psi. Replaced fuel pump. No problems now. With new Toyota recall on fuel pumps, maybe it should be expanded.

31 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/04/2019

32 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/11/2019

1. On entering freeway, car did not respond to accelerator, & seemed to lose power momentarily. Then seemed to engage, accelerating. 2. On freeway, gas pedal became spongy, car coasted for a couple hundred feet, then pedal engaged, car accelerated. Occurred three, 3, times, different trips. 3. On turning right, on city street, engine started to run rough as tho it would stall. Worked itself out and continued w/o further trouble. 4. On two occasions, engine ran roughly when turning it on in front of the house. Weather was warm, not a factor. Ran smoothly after a block. Gas pedal again felt spongy while car ran rough. Dealer has stated that (1) "try using name brand gas" (tried; no change), (2) for probs 1 & 2 above, "it must be the new transmission. " now received fuel pump recall notice, but Toyota has "no remedy available"?! this is unsafe - pease help!!.

33 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/06/2018

It feels like the transmission is slipping while I am driving. It has done this since I first bought the car. I told the Toyota dealership while in for service and the service rep told me that the problem is my fuel pump but they will not fix it until my car is actually "recalled" by the manufacturer. I am scared to drive it long distances or highway speeds. It happens every single day and every single time I drive the car.

34 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/23/2017

The fuel pump. Ofnthe car stopped working while the car was on the highway. Fortunately was in the rightmost lane so was able to manoeuvr to the shoulder, but the car immediately stalled and had to be towed. The Toyota dealership was clueless and took couple days to. Figure out that the fuel pump blew up, while the car was in motion. They replaced the fuel and the car worked fine. It is likely that the current problem of. Fuel. Pump. On newer model may also. Be relevant to. Other. Older models.

35 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/07/2017

We purchased a certified used 2014. 5 Toyota Camry from baxter Toyota in April 2014. The engine has always run a bit rough and we had it checked by baxters service department several times and were told that "that was normal for that particular year, however, with the 2020 recall on the fuel pump issue it sounds like we may have the same problem and would appreciate if we could at least have our fuel pump check out in accordance with the recall.
