Toyota has recognized a problem with the low pressure fuel pump on some 2018 Camry cars which causes a hesitation when driving from a stop creating a rear danger of a rear-end collision. It has been happening intermitantly everysince car was new. . Toyota claimed that my VIN was not one of the ones recalled even though I experienced the e3xact same problem. There appears to be an additional recall for the same issue in 2025, but here again my Camry is not included. I only have 40,000 miles on my Camry and I would like to keep it but am worried about the hesitation. The engine actually cuts off very briefly.

The hybrid propulsion system in my Toyota Camry hybrid malfunctioned. The vehicle displayed multiple warning messages, including “hybrid system malfunction” and other system failure alerts. The accelerator pedal stopped responding, and the vehicle lost propulsion while driving at highway speed. The vehicle would not restart after coming to a stop. The vehicle has been towed and is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle lost power while I was traveling at highway speed during severe weather conditions (tornado and thunderstorm warnings). The car began rattling and shaking, then the accelerator stopped responding, and the vehicle gradually decelerated despite pressing the gas pedal. I was forced to activate hazard lights and maneuver to the shoulder. Multiple large trucks were traveling at high speed and did not immediately move over, coming dangerously close to striking my disabled vehicle. Because of the severe weather and approaching storm conditions, I was stranded on the highway in a vulnerable position. The sudden loss of propulsion created a significant risk of a high-speed rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed after the incident. It has not yet been confirmed whether the dealer has reproduced the failure. The malfunction occurred suddenly while driving and has not been intentionally reproduced by me. The vehicle would not restart at the time of the incident. The vehicle was towed following the incident. It has not yet been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Inspection by a Toyota dealer/manufacturer representative is pending (or currently in progress, if applicable). Approx. 15 minutes before reaching my destination, the vehicle began rattling and shaking unexpectedly while driving at highway speed. Shortly after, the rattling stopped, but the accelerator pedal stopped responding and the vehicle began decelerating. Multiple warning messages then appeared, including “hybrid system malfunction” and other system failure.

Hesitant and sluggish acceleration caused check engine light and activated limp mode. Code p0087 - fuel rail/system pressure too low. My VIN isn’t included on the major fuel pump recall, but I’m experiencing issue and being told it’s going to cost thousands to repair.
My vehicle has being acting faulty. The vehicle looses power and stops while driving. It has done it multiple times. I took it for check up on the dealer and said it was fuel pump. They said that unfortunately this car is not in the recall list even though other same year Camrys are not either. The mechanics advised me to contact NHTSA to inform about this issue to not have to pay for a recall noticed. Without it, I would have to pay.
Car stalled while driving and needed to be towed to dealership. Dealership confirmed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine that clogged the fuel injector causing the car to stall while driving. Dealership informed us that car will need a new engine and transmission because of the coolant intrusion. The car stalled while driving and could have led to an accident or loss of life depending on where the car stalled and when. This coolant intrusion has been confirmed by the dealership and shown to us via video they took. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership and we called Toyota corp to have then review this as a safety issue. They informed us the call stalling was not a safety issue. Unknown on confirmed symptoms prior.
My fuel line came out while I was driving and almost cause my car to catch fire. Which caused my check engine light and other sensors to come on. After further inspections my vehicle indicated my fuel line/hose caused my engine to enter into limp mode explaining on my dash board as reduce engine power.

I went a few months ago to Toyota to get an air flow valve replaced from a safety campaign for Toyota. My car engine light came on. Afterwards it never went off. My car shuts off after getting gas . Car doesn’t start for 20 mins. Coolant is leaking . Car idling high as if the valve that was replaced was faulty. The car acts like it’s gonna shut off. I take good care of my car & several people have the same complaints please investigate this. I don’t have the money to replace something that isn’t my fault.
Contacted tmc and was told a recall was performed on my car in 2010 for excessive acceleration. However, after further investigation, I learned there was not one but two different recalls for similar circumstances(acceleration) and was not informed whether both were completed. I have had vehicle for approx. 5 years and have intermittently experienced the same problem. The last few weeks, it has happened more frequently and is becoming dangerous to drive! also, I was told, since the one recall was completed, tmc declined to address the recent problem. Is there a possibility the first recall was not completely sufficient for both. I hope I can get an answer, as I have run out of options. I don't believe I should have to pay for something that was supposedly fixed even 10 years ago! I would, again appreciate any help. Thank you.

While driving the car, the engine shut down in traffic, and the engine light came on . We took the vehicle in for a flow shut off valve issue (customer support program) and found out that the flow shut-off valve issue resulted in damage to the water pump. We were responsible for the replacement of the water pump, which the program did not cover.
Unknown loud noise while driving occurred once. 5 mpg decrease is gas mileage. My assessment is a defect in the ecvt / power split device related to one of the electric motors.
I purchased a certified preowned vehicle from fowler Toyota in [xxx] , and after complaining multiple times about my engine being too loud, a musty smell in my trunk, the attempting to clean my trunk and me pointing out rust spots in the trunk and the smell returning multiple times, and a sulfur smell that continued to get worse month after month, they finally listened to me the 3rd week of November and discovered that this car that had a previous cosmetic accident to the rear of the car before being certified, indeed had a failing catalytic converter, a misaligned trunk as well as a busted strut among other issues. There was exhaust getting into my car, causing myself, headaches, my [xxx] and [xxx] to take a nap as soon as I would pick them up from school every day for the last month that I had it before they took it in November that all of this resolved after I was given a rental. I also periodically on a weekly basis, took my pregnant daughter to her doctors appointment so she was exposed as well. My husband occasionally rode with me also among other people. After 3 1/2 months of my car being “fixed”, it was returned to me and I was told it was in perfect condition and Toyota corporate had inspected it. Approximately 10 days after picking it up, I took a long drive out on a highway with traffic lights on my way back. I started to fall asleep. I feel like I had bricks on my eyelids and it was only 3:30 in the afternoon. I almost crashed into a wall on the side. I rolled my window down and instantly felt better. I purchased a carbon monoxide monitor and after three days it registered and went off at a level of 49. I tried to take it in after calling the dealer that day, but they did not have a car for me. They only had a 4runner that I’m not comfortable driving so I had to wait another 36 hours on a car. The next day, the carbon monoxide detector went off and registered at 315 only in a parking lot. No lights on my car are showing anything is wrong. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information a.

2019 Camry se would not accelerate and rpm’s would escalate without making car move. Car has had complete maintenance on a regular basis. There have been no prior lights on or alerts until my son’s car stalled in traffic almost leading to side collision. Once it was plugged up to computer shows faulty transmission (complete transmission failure) and engine coolant bypass valve which I know has a tbs report on yet my local dealership refuses to do anything with it unless they charge me to hook up to their computer first and deny any issues with this car. I have read hundred of others with the same complaint and numerous lawsuits yet Toyota refuses to recall and fix the faulty transmissions in these vehicles. Something needs to be done before someone is killed, as my son could have been when his car stalled in middle of traffic and transmission failed with no prior warnings.
Uncontrollable sudden acceleration 3 times while I drove the car, it suddenly and rapidly accelerated. Eventually, the car crashed and was totaled. The first time was 3/31/25 when my wife and I went to the car wash. To exit the car wash, I put the car in drive and lightly applied the accelerator pedal and suddenly the car accelerated rapidly and made a loud noise. I immediately braked and the car went back to normal. Over 3 years nothing like this happened before. The 2nd time was only 8 days later. On 4/8/25, I was driving the car at moderate speed in the center lane of a large street and while changing from the middle lane to the right lane to prepare to turn right at the next street, the car started accelerating rapidly and to make a loud noise. Fortunately, I was able to brake and the car went back to normal. We went to the Toyota dealer the next day 4/9/25 and told our concerns to the service advisor and the shop foreman. They checked the car, including with a computer. The foreman and I both drove the car. He said they did not find any mechanical/electronic issues and the only explanation is that if I hit the cruise control (which I never use), as he saw my hand close to that button while I drove. He said to avoid the cruise control and it will be ok. They did not charge us for the visit. The third time was on 6/15/25 when we again went to the car wash. I was very careful as this was the same location as our first time. Just like before, I lightly applied the accelerator pedal and suddenly the car accelerated rapidly and made a loud noise. However, the acceleration was much more rapid than before and I was not able to brake in time and the car crashed into the pole of the car wash about 45 feet away. The airbags deployed and the car was totaled. We were pulled from the wreckage and ended in the emergency room. Luckily no one was seriously injured. Enclosures: my 4/8/25 text, 4/9/25 dealership visit paperwork, and photo after the crash on 6/15/25.

1. Driving on the highway with adaptive cruise control feels like taming a wild horse. Pulls side to side, even after alignment and total check up from Toyota. 2. Engine maintenace required now warning light. This came on at 106,458 miles on Toyota Camry 21 le. Randomly turned on. Off when air con was turned off, light came back on when air con was turned on. Took to Toyota dealership, repaired at no cost, coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery or open, known concern by Toyota. Dtc p268115 confirmed and repaired at no cost, customer care warranty. 3. Headlights full of water, condensation at 70,000 miles. Regular maintenace each 5k miles, bought extended protection plan for 4k, purchased car brand new in 2021 0 miles. At 70k the headlights I noticed condensation inside the headlights. I thought it would go away, later at 100,000 miles both headlights at the same time started to flicker, then drl only worked, and turn signals and side markers. Led assembly went out completely dead. Drl then stopped working. Headlight retaining clips pulled away from the body of the car. Completely plastic. Headlight seal is completely worn and is peeling away from the headlight. Toyota just inspected car at 106,000 miles nothing said about the headlights. Now at 114k, need to replace entire headlight on my own. 1 headlight is 1900 at Toyota. Must replace entire assembly, since it is a led module. Cracks in top mounting latches, entirely plastic. Led circuit board inside headlight covered in corrosion. Kioto mexico dm026 is the chip inside the headlight located under the led module. Led lights last 10-15 years. I didn't know I was supposed to reseal a headlight after 3 years. Toyota never told me this, not in the manual either. My headlights are done for. It costs 3000-4000 for oem. No help from Toyota so far. Quaity issue with led headlight unit on both sides. Plastic housing falling apart, cracking, clips snapped and breaking, no accidents. Others have this issue.

Been having an issue for months now and the dealership was absolutely no help.
Engine coolant bypass valve 'a' control circuit/open: circuit short to battery or open I honestly feel like this is not safe. If you’re driving your engine could possibly overheat or it can crack the engine block and several different others I’m not a familiar mechanic this code just popped up my car is running a bit funny I would say that’s what made me do the scan in the first place nobody has looked at it. I used a code scanner. I cleared the code and then I re-scanned it, and it was still there. Just for a future note, this is for a 2020 Toyota corolla at 141,000 miles I have seen where the Toyota corolla is having the same issue several different people at that so I do think they need to have a open investigation about this issue because it is an outgoing issue.
Two weeks prior, car began rough idling at stop-lights, intermittently. Then one morning, after refueling, the car sputtered and failed to start. The mil light came on, with display warnings: “charging system malfunction” and steering power low”. Car eventually started and barely made it to carlsbad (CA) Toyota. Dtc code pulled was p0171: “system too lean bank 1”. It was diagnosed with low or leaking high-pressure reading for the high-pressure fuel rail. They replaced all four high-pressure direct injectors. However, idle roughness persisted until they replaced the canister purge valve. Car has only used costco top-tier fuel. Injectors should not have failed at 47,000 miles; likely defective. Fuel pump was replaced years ago under recall, and I was told that fuel pump pressure was fine.
All of a sudden, all of my warning lights came on including: brake light, check vcs system, abs, all of the exclamation lights, etc. . Ive been very diligent about the maintenace on y vehicle and had the codes read and reset, but they keep coming back on. The major issues are the abs, catalytic converter eror code & the abs making it difficult to break. Ive had it looked at and the mechanics are saying that this is a common problem. Also, the mirror visor on driver side stopped working & constantly falls down blocking my view. Its very dangerous! please advise Toyota of these issues. Ive already had the hybrid battery completely replaced and breaks & routers, but the codes showing are: •p0420 and •p1423, •c1391, - ask about a recall •b1241, •b2784, •b2281, •c2124 thank you so much!.
Vehicle will stall out in the middle of driving as if it does not have any fuel. Toyota could not pull the error code a second time replaced a random part and the next month the car continued to stall out.
Just bought this car on 3/12/2025 was assured nothing wrong. When taking off it goes about 8 ft then hesitates causing the car behind to almost hit me. Twice it's happened. Pulling out of busy intersections is dangerous. Also it will down shift while driving regularly. Causing cars to run up on you. It also almost died at. A stop sign. Could be tranmission. Not sure exactly.

I have a purge valve issue when filling my tank my check engine light comes I smell gas and the engine jerks I have take. It for repair 3 times and they have replaced it but still the same issue occurs when I fill my tank.
According to the car’s manual and Toyota’s official website, the fuel tank capacity should be 13 gallons. However, my car does not have this capacity. Additionally, it consumes enough fuel for 36 miles when driving only 22 miles.
The car first stalled ,then the it shut off ,and the car did not start. The car has almost half tank of gas. So I was doing my research on line. And saw 3 recalls and one of them was the fuel pump system for my 2018 Camry le.
I keep getting error code p0304 which says its cylinder 4 misfire the engine starts shaking a bit and most of the warning lights in my dashboard turn on and it disables the parking brake , I took it to a shop and they took out the fuel injectors to visualy inspect them and moved injector 4 to a different cylinder but the same error keeps coming back cylinder 4 misfire , I keep having to spend money and still have the same issue. It only does it on a cold start .
We purchased the 2025 Camry xse on December 31st, 2024. We brought the car home on 1/3/25 we parked the vehicle in our driveway for 2 days. On the 2nd day we actually attempted to drive the car and 20 minutes into the drive the low engine oil light came on. The next morning we returned the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. They stated it was a bad battery cell and replaced the battery. I left the dealership and 30 minutes later the low engine light, and system stopped front radar sensor blocked light began to come on simultaneously. We contacted the dealer immediately. They scheduled to have the car towed back to the dealership. This was on 1/6/25. The vehicle was picked up on 1/9/25. The vehicle is still at the dealership today 2/11/25.
On December 31, 2001, I was driving 2020 Toyota Camry le at 20mph and the engine stalled. I kept pressing the gas but my vehicle wouldn't go. The check engine light was also on so we took it to a local shop where they mentioned the Toyota fuel pump recall. We then took it to a local Toyota dealer where they said my specific Camry was not included in the recall and I had to pay $1, 655. 69 for a new fuel pump to be installed. My car exhibited the same systems as described in the fuel pump recall therefore I believe my car should be included in the recall and I should be reimbursed.
Hi, I bought a new Camry 2025 xse hybrid from dan cava Toyota, fairmont, wv. The Toyota company says 47 mpg. However, I filled complete tank 3 times and each time the odometer showed estimated 430-440 miles for 13 gallons, which is equal to 34 mpg. As a customer, I feel I am cheated by Toyota company. I bought this Camry only for a better mileage and safety. Please let me know what I should do. Thank you very much. Regards, thangasamy.
Low pressure fuel pump defective. Engine dies and/or surges under load at cruise speeds, sometimes dies at idle. Engine shuts down merging onto highway. Occupant(s) could be hit when pulling out into traffic if engine dies. Problem has been reproduced. Dealership said fuel pump is not covered under previous recall, but Toyota has a TSB stating the VIN# is in the TSB range for the above mentioned concerns. No dtc's are set, no messages set.
There was a recall in 2022 for the fuel pump. The fuel pump was replaced by a local dealership in north charleston, south carolina. In December, the engine light of my 2018 Toyota Camry came on. It was diagnosed that the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I have appointment scheduled for this Thursday, February 20 at the local dealership for them, too diagnose and replace.
On multiple occasion's the vehicle takes longer than usual to start and it suddenly starts misfiring and running poorly when I'm driving it. At one point I was turning into a busy intersection and I thought the vehicle was going to stall. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they have confirmed there is problem with the fuel injectors. When the vehicle runs poorly, multiple warning lights appear on the dash and several of the safety systems are disabled. The vehicle is presently at the dealership for repairs, it only has 11,000 miles on it.

My 2020 Camry has been nothing but a problem and Toyota is noncompliant with helping me. The service recall for the fuel pump was fixed at vaughn Toyota in bastrop la . . A week later I still had the same issues. They refused to put another fuel pump on my car even thought the fuel pump had a one year warranty. I then took it to landers in little rock and since I had “codes” I had to pay $180 diagnostic fee. Fast forward to now, still have the same crappy fuel pump. I took it to ryburn Toyota and was told to replace the charcoal canister and vent valve . That was $1000. Problem not fixed. All my lights stay on, I often get a charging system error notification. It goes into reduced power mode. And has left me stranded numerous times on the side of the road. I want whatever is wrong with my car fixed. I have never owned a vehicle with this many problems. I thought Toyota’s were good vehicles but I promise if I ever get rid of this one, I will not purchase another Toyota vehicle again.
About a month ago my daughter left the Toyota dealership in bradenton FL. After an oil change. She drove several hundred feet, the car stalled and she couldn't start it. The mechanic crew had to push it back into the service area, after been there for 2 days they found no problem, just last Monday [xxx] she filled the car up at a gas station, as she was leaving the car stalled again and she couldn't start it, the car was towed back to same dealership, they could find a problem after being there another 2 days. I believe it's a computer chip problem, which hasn't been resolved by Toyota, I don't want my daughter to have an accident and get hurt due to this problem, perhaps your agency can look into this Toyota problem information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Coolant bypass valve.
The vehicle will randomly shut down and it is due to the fuel pump or fuel pump sensor being faulty. It will shut down in the middle of driving which is a hazard and can lead to a car crash.
