4 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2015 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 11/28/2019

While driving under 30 mph the steering pulls hard to the left, difficult to keep straight and in the lane. Steering felt light and sloppy, like a low tire or steering gear issue, very dangerous. Faster speeds not as bad. Towed to dealer, diagnosed as a "low voltage battery". Car started as usual with no warning of indications of a problem and no warning lights came on. There should have been a warning light but it never came on. The manual says it may come on. This is a very dangerous situation when the steering acts up without any other warnings. This is probably a wide spread problem and not isolated to just my car, any Toyota with electric power steering.

5 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/09/2019

Brand new Camry 2019 (3,105 miles, owned for 2 months) lost all power while driving on the highway - driver console (speedometer, screen, etc) was completely turned off - had to pull over immediately. Upon turning the vehicle off and restarting, the following was displayed; master warning light (yellow triangle with exclamation mark), power steering warning light, driver screen in console displayed message reading "steering power low. Visit your dealer". Vehicle was turned back off. After a few minutes, the vehicle was restarted - none of the previous warnings were displayed. No symptoms or issues have occurred since. Took vehicle to the dealer the next day and nothing was found. Suspicious components / potential issues were checked and nothing was found. Was told to return if it happens again.

6 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2016 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

6/6/17, 7pm, on starting car; in mall parking lot, both the brake and power steering alert warning lights/msgs turned on and stayed on. Turned engine off/on several times; alerts still on. Checked brake fluid level and verified parking brake disengaged. Drove home, and garaged car. Started/stopped engine many times, till late at night, but alerts stayed lit. I flipped through all the alert messages, which showed 2 alerts, 1)brake alert and 2)power steering alert. Both alerts were present next morning. Per owner booklet, dealer wanted car towed in. Prepared for front wheel tow, by driving from garage to street by turning car to face street and driving back to driveway. After parking car, both the alert lights turned off. Mentioned this to dealer. Asked if I still wanted to bring car in, I said yes, I wanted it investigated. 6/8/17 dealer ran the diagnostic scan and found history code c1441. Reported as "abs performance decline and brake function". This can be caused by "brake pedal being pushed while move with engine off, or pushing brake pedal and gas pedals, concurrently. I know neither of these two happened. Dealer road tested car, found no recurrences of the problem and returned car. Back home, found that the 2015 Camry ,with code c1441, had a recall of the brake vacuum booster assembly (TSB-0010-15). Since the 2016 Camry is essentially the same car as the 2015 Camry, I thought it might apply to the 2016 model. Abs malfunction, with code c1441 is still being triggered, on the 2016 Camry, with the 2ar. . . Engine. For the 2016 Camry, found brake related problems still being reported, some with severe accidents, possibly related to the abs or computer . See NHTSA id 10991889, 10966112, 10934015, 10915061, 10903212, 10883921, and 10873023 as examples. Hope Toyota gets a chance to look into this safety defect, before a more serious accident.

7 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

First, the transmission is really jerk when accelerate at stop light. It also jerk really hard when down shift. It feels like the transmission is delay. Second, the electric steering wheel. The radio just shut off by itself and the steering wheel light came on at the same time, and then the light came off and the radio restarted by itself again. I feel like the electric has some problem.

8 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/14/2015

While driving on a city street and turning, the steering suddenly "froze" (power assist failed) and a steering wheel warning light came on. Car was driven home and then towed to Toyota dealership for investigation. After investigating, it was found that the pig voltage was low (11 volts) and fluctuated while turning. Upon removal of lower dash and steering column, found no bolt in ground wire from emps ecu. Installed a bolt and resecured ground wire to instrument panel safety bar, and then voltage was normal and steering was normal during road test. Could not locate original ground bolt.

9 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2004 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

When turning right at about 25mph, the steering wheel completely locked up. I applied the brakes immediately but they car still impacted, then continued over the curb. The steering wheel remained locked for a while after the car came to a stop and then finally released. Prior to this incident the steering wheel had locked on several occasions only when the car was shut off and parked, although it remained locked stubbornly even after the car was put in drive and the steering wheel adjusted slightly. This was the first time the car locked up while the key was in the ignition and the car was in motion.

14 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

Vehicle does not trac straight on it's own. I find myself constantly turning the steering wheel slightly left to right, right to left in order to go straight. If you turn the steering wheel slightly left or right it will continue to go in that direction. Finding the exact steering wheel position to go straight and keeping it straight is a chore and tiring.

15 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

As I was driving 30 mph, my power steering warning light went on and my power steering failed. Thankfully there was no one behind me so I stopped my car and restarted it again. I was able to turn right onto a side street and then immediately it happened again. I pulled over to the side and parked my car. After a couple of minutes, I stopped the car and started it again and was able to drive it back home (less than a mile) without further incident. I immediately called my local Toyota dealership and they were very responsive to my concern especially since this could have caused a crash with my 4-year old child in the car. After I dropped off my car at the dealership, they ran an inspection and found a code c1554 power supply relay failure and replaced my power steering ecu assy. Although I'm glad this fix was covered under warranty, I will always have anxiety about it failing again especially since I've read other reports of steering failures in 2012 Toyota Camrys. Toyota says that this is the first line of Camrys with their eps (electrical power steering) system. With it being a new system for Toyota and based on the complaints I've read on 2012 Toyota Camry's eps, I urge a more in-depth investigation on this.

16 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2005 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 09/05/2008

The steering of the car was slightly bumpy, was not evident in the beginning. After few months or so or close to 42k miles the steering began to make some bumpy noises. Was not aware of the defective intermediate shaft that was supposed to be replaced under warranty . Was never notified by dealer even during my visits to them when it was under warranty. Recently took the car to the dealer and they informed that I will have to change the intermediate shaft for $500+.

17 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2002 Toyota Camry

Failure Date: 02/10/2003

Regarding 2002 Toyota Camry. Started experiencing pulling and bumping sensations from front soon after 5000 miles. Had tires rebalanced and rotated, problem continued. Took car to dealer who said alignment was off and supposedly corrected. No change, in fact, steering wheel was still slightly off center. Took car back to dealer who said nothing was wrong but did another alignment, this time straightening out the steering wheel. Problem did not go away. We are now at 19000 miles having just rotated the tires again in hopes it would solve the problem, but it has not. Additionally, we have recently noticed poor braking traction even at slow speeds in wet conditions and a spinning out of a wheel going around corners at slow speed. We are frustated by the inability of Toyota north of mt. Kisco, NY to solve this problem.
