Im really unhappy with this car its just 1 thing after another first had the noisy moon roof issue and finally got it fixed by bringing in the TSB so it could not be denied, now I have a noisy power steering pump that whine very loud but was told that its normal (what a crock). Currently my car is shifting hard on take off and decreasing speed to stop. Toyota has really gone down. I traded a 2000 Camry xle that was better than this newer model.

Started hearing some wierd sound at a small turn from home to work. Within a minute of the sound, found the steering totally locked and didnot move left or right and need to apply force to pull over to the side to stop on the highway. Called allstate roadside assistance to tow the vehicle to pep boys and found the water pump broken. Replaced it by them and it is running fine now.

When the car was only six months old, the power steering started to make noise. I took the car to the dealer and was told the power steering pump had to be replaced, but that they would have to order the part. So, I had to make another trip to the dealer to have the work done (under warranty). After the repair the noise stopped, but the steering still didn't feel right to me. I took the car back to the dealer and they drove the car and inspected the steering system and told me everything looked fine. Nonetheless, I am quite sure the steering is different than when I first got the car. Sometimes the steering seems to catch and I feel like I don't have good control, particularly during a wide left turn through a large intersection.

Approx August 2003 I began noticing if driving on the highway and I apply my brakes my whole car begins shaking.
Power steering pump failed causing leakage which resulted in smoke.
The brakes on my 1998 Toyota Camry wore out at 15000 miles. The service writer at the service dealer told me that the 1997 and 1998 Camry have a design defect that causes more pressure to be applied to the front brakes than to the back brakes, causing the front brakes to wear out prematurely. My power steering pump developed a leak before it was replaced by the servicing dealer at 19000 miles, causing the vehicle to have steering and control problems.
