Brake Light On problems of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid - part 1

As I was driving a loud noise came on inside the car my abs light and brake light came on and then my brakes failed almost causing a huge wreck and from what I have read it is the abs accutator or brake accutator which I guess is the same thing but apparently a lot of the Toyota Camry Hybrids are having this issue where the breaks are failing and causing accidents but yet there are no recalls for it and apparently the part cost 2,900 from Toyota which is insane when it should be a recall because it's a major safety issue.

Vehicle was in motion going straight on a city street, and "check vsc system" notification turned on. Brake light, abs light, and (!) all came on. Brakes became shaky when pressed.

Brakes did not activate, went very soft and pushed to the floor. "check vsc system" message, brake light, traction control light, and another light (in attached image) all came on after the brakes gave out. I was able to use the emergency brake to stop the car off the side of the road. Turn the car off and back on. Brakes worked again, but all of the warnings are still on. Also, seems like the it's just regular brakes and anti-lock system is not working.

The brakes on my 07 Toyota camry went "soft" and the brake light came on when driving at about 35 mph. I pulled into a parking lot, waited, and the prob. Went away. A few days later, the brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed when at a red light on a residential area (25mph). I took the to Toyota for the second time, and they said it was an abs issue, actuator and 4 brake fluids. The cost to repair it is $1926. 54. The dealer advised me to call Toyota, which I did, bc there had been problems with braking in 07 and 08 Toyota camrys. Toyota was incredibly unhelpful (this despite my owning two Toyota Camry Hybrids), even though Toyota had issued two extended warranties because of the issues with intermittent loss of assisted braking reported by many customers, the last one through July of 2017. The woman I spoke to insisted that since the car experienced the problem "out of warranty" there is nothing Toyota was willing to do.

The brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. Vehicle has been maintained correctly. I was on the hwy going 65 mph, in my 2007 Camry Hybrid when this happened, totally lost power, I was able to pill over to the side road call for help. This is a ridiculous situation for an automobile. I feel like the public is being used like test dummies by Toyota.

On my 2007 Camry Hybrid, as I was reversing, the brakes all of a sudden engaged, braking so hard it felt like I hit something. Soon after, the brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. Vsc warning lights and display message intermittently turn off and turn back on arbitrarily.

Abs module is constantly cycling . Vcs light and brake light are on. The brakes are soft. The repair is aprox 3k dollars.

Driving normal and brake light indicator lights up with vcs message and power brakes fail. This is an intermittent problem on highway or local roads.

For several weeks prior to 10/12/2017, I had been noticing a squeaking noise when depressing the brake to start the car and sometimes when the car was stopped at a light. I brought the car to the venice Toyota dealer on 10/05/2017, and was told that the abs actuator was failing. On 10/12/2017, all of the brake warning lights came on on my dashboard: abs, traction control, etc. , as well as the words "check vsc system. " on 10/13/2017, I had the actuator assembly replaced by venice Toyota, at a cost of $1990. 00. Three years prior, in January 2014, I had already had the actuator assembly replaced due to the very same failure. There were many reports to the NHTSA at that time for the same make vehicles and year range. Several months later Toyota issued a vehicle warranty enhancement for the actuator system, and I was eventually reimbursed by Toyota for that repair. But now it has happened again three years later. Clearly there is still a weakness in the actuator system, and I even wonder if my system was replaced by the exact same unimproved parts. Toyota is unwilling to accept any responsibility for this failure or for its repair. My car has low mileage for its age, currently at 95,000. Also, I only put on 26,700 additional miles since the actuator system first failed 3 years ago.

When I start the car brake light is on and after few minutes message comes as check vsc system and its not going away.

My car Camry Hybrid 2007 have all light master warning light, brake warning light, controlled brake warning, anti-lock brake system, slip indicator light. Also the brake is so hard that I was close to hit car, I call Toyota in orlando,florida but they toll me they don't have any recall and normally is ecu pedal stroke sensor and abs module system, both parts cost is $3,500.

I was driving on the free way the first time this event happened to me. My brake light came on indicating that my brake was on I pulled over to check it and my brake was off. When I went back on the freeway all of my warning lights turned on and it was very hard to brake I had to press the brake pedal really hard to even get my car to stop. The warning lights will stay on for about 10 minutes or so and then the brakes lock and come to a sudden stop. I took it to the Toyota dealership who sold me my car and they ran a diagnostic and could not find anything. The second time this happened to me it became quite dangerous. The brake light came on again while I was on the freeway going 65 (the speed limit). I was being very cautious with my car since that happened. All of the warning lights came on again. I was on a freeway ramp merging to get onto a different free way section. I could not brake to slow down. Finally when I pushed the pedal hard enough my brakes locked and I did a 360 almost hitting two cars passing me. My car is at the Toyota dealership right now they do not know how to fix it. I don't feel safe driving my car like this after it did the 360 at 60 mph. Please help I submitted pictures of all the lights that come on the picture is missing the abs but the abs light comes on as well. I also submitted what I think is the problem also.

On 2 occassions our 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid lost braking power. Dash board lights abs, vsc and brake light all came on. When brakes were used, car had very little to no braking power.

The abs light and check vsc light and brake light went on. When I tried to apply brakes to stop, I realized that the brakes completely failed. The car was skidding and keep going and I pumped the brakes and still the car was moving forward. I came close to hitting another car and luckily stopped couple of inches from the other car. It keeps happening often and I am worried to drive this car as it is. It works fine and suddenly goes to this brake failing mode. Especially happen more often if it rains and making it more dangerous.

My 2007 Camry Hybrid has 200210 miles and had a brake accumulator system failure. Received warning of check vsc system and abs and brake light illuminated. Heavy force was required to stop the car. I turned the car off and the error cleared. After driving 30 miles the issue occurred again. This is very unsafe and Toyota campaign expired 5 months ago for unlimited mileage. In date service was 2/26/2007.

While driving on a straight road on 3 separate occasions I lost all control of my brakes and my "check vsc light", brake light and abs lights came on. I was not able to stop my car like normal and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. It was very scary while driving.

Brakes skip now and then but eventually catch. Today while driving about 35mph in town driving straight the "check vcs braking system" lights came on as well as anti skid light and brake light and I lost all brakes when I stepped on my brakes to stop. Skid off road and car eventually stopped but brakes were all the way to the floor. I googled the warning lights and found that it was a recall on the brake system. I did not receive a recall notice in the mail if there was in fact one. Called the Toyota dealer where I purchased it and they told me to bring it in and they would look at it to confirm that it is indeed a recall issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle would come to an abnormal stop when the brakes were applied. The contact stated that the abs and brake light warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, but it was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,500.

"check vsc system" when I took my car out this morning, I got a warning light saying "check vsc system". My brake light and abs lights are also on. All the dashboard brake light came on, and a couple of seconds later all the system warning lights came on. The brakes became hard to push as if they were fighting me. After about 5 minutes the lights went off and the brakes felt normal again. This occurred while I was driving today. The bigger worry is that it happened ten days ago also. Once on a city street and once on the interstate. I took the car to two different shops (one was a Toyota dealership in marietta, georgia) and they both ran diagnostics and couldn't find anything wrong. But I have an unsafe car with brake problems!.

While driving on a local street I noticed the red brake light came on and then just a few seconds later multiple lights came on, master warning light, electronically controlled brake warning, anti-lock brake system, slip indicator, and check vsc system and I had no braking capability. I was finally able to get the car pulled off of the road so I turned off the car and then turned it on again and the same lights were still on. I turned it off again and after a few minutes I turned it back on and the lights were not on and everything was normal. Braking system was working again. This has happened 3 times in the last 3 months and needless to say this car is no longer safe to drive.

I was driving when the check vsc warning came on as well as the indicator warning light, the brake warning light, the abs warning light and the vsc warning light. All the lights remained on until I reached my destination. The brake system made a strange "grunting" noise when the brakes were depressed but the brakes seemed to function properly. The lights came back on when the car was restarted and less than halfway on the return trip, went off. There has been no noticeable loss of braking. On the 21st of the month the lights came back on and have not gone off. The abs pump actuator appears to be cycling very quickly.

While driving under 45 mph on a straight suburban paved road, my brake light came on then off then on again directly followed by all the warning lights coming on and the display showed "check vcs system". I was entering a turn lane behind another vehicle and quickly realized the brake pedal was not working. I had no brakes! I had already put the car into the engine brake mode which helped slow my vehicle. I slammed down on the brake pedal as hard as I could and swerved away from the car in front of me to avoid hitting them. After successfully pulling over and to a stop, I turn the vehicle off and waited for a few minutes. I turned the car back on and all the lights and check vcs system was still displayed for about 30 seconds. I heard a small click and all the warning lights turned off and the car and brakes were back to normal. I am honestly now afraid to drive my own car for fear of not knowing when and if that will happen again.

While driving on city street, check vsc system warning appeared along with check engine/stability/antilock brake warning lights. Vehicle did not lose braking completely but did not feel normal and was brought to side of road. After restart was lights cleared and has behaved normally so far. Brought to dealer next day, unable to find problem.

Whiles driving the abs light came on , the caution lights came on and brake light came on at the same time. The brakes felt really odd. It pulsates. The alarm says check the vsc system.

I started my car this morning and a message that said check vsc system appeared. The brake light and master warning lights also appeared. I started to go out the drive way and could not press the brakes. It was a little jumpy and the brakes are hard to press now.

While driving on freeway car lost some braking power and slight pulsing could be felt when pressing on brakes. At the same time the dash lights all lit up; emergency brake light, abs light, warning lights, and screen said check vsc system. Prior to system failing emergency brake light would randomly turn on. . . Very scary when driving 65 mph. Also at slower speeds, it is difficult to apply adequate pressure on the brake pedal to stop normally.

While driving my car lost all braking capabilities with "check vsc sytem" message on instrument panel, abs light, parking brake light, traction control light, engine light, warning light illuminated. Fortunately, I was able to pull car off of the road and into a parking lot. I waited several hours and tried again to start the car to take to Toyota for service. The car ran just fine driving to Toyota and now they are refusing to fix because it will not repeat the issue. I told them of warranty enhancement program ze1 which indicates the problem with the car, they are not willing to fix still. This is a serious safety issue that will kill someone eventually. If I am in an accident caused by this issue with Toyota not willing to fix, I will be filing lawsuit. God help me because I have two small kids that ride in my car often.

Toyota hybrid's have a braking device in the transmission. This device can be applied at any time. When using the transmission brake the vehicles speed is reduced at a considerable rate. When braking using this method the brake lights do not come on. There is no indication that the vehicle is braking. I use this method on a routine basis and was informed of no brake lights by another driver. I use this system of braking while going downhills in the city and driving in the mountains.

While driving all brake lights lit up on dash, "vsc check system" message showed. But the car seemed to brake fine, until I went to park. The brake went completely soft and the car continued forward motion until running into the curb. Upon restarting the car all the lights were back to normal. It happened again later in the day, lights come on, brakes fail. Luckily I was going very slowly and able to stop the car by pumping the brakes.

This has happened several times. The vcs system warning indicators go off on the car, including the brake light the abs light and then the brakes fail. I took it into the dealership on Thursday, Nov. 6, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it since the computer didn't register a code. The brake light went on again on Saturday, Nov, 8. And then the vcs system warning indicators went off when I started my car on Tuesday, Nov. 11. And the brakes failed. I cannot drive this car around like this not knowing when the brakes are going to fail. It's not safe, and I can't get any help from the dealership. I don't have the option of not driving into work. I need a car. This car is supposed to be safe.

While driving to the market at 40mph a series of warnings came on. The "check vsc system", the brake light, abs, skid, parking light, and general warning light came on on the dashboard and the car lost its braking power. I had to push down very hard on the brake and use the emergency brake to stop the car. So far it has happened twice. According to the Toyota dealership, there is no record of the errors or lack of brake power in the computer and they say they can't duplicate it. I am not driving it now because I am concerned about crashing.

The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the brake assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Pam.

While driving, 4 light appeared: the master warning light, the brake light, the abs light, and the yellow warning light, along with the message "check vsc system". After this happened, I pulled over and turned off the car. Now when pressing the brake pedal to start the car, I hear loud irregular clunking sounds, and the green light on the power button doesn't light up for 2 seconds, indicating the car cannot be immediately started. Car drives fine, but I'm afraid the brakes will become faulty at any time.

Car was making barking noise when stepping on the brake. Dealer replaced master cylinder, actuator, and brake fluid reservoir. Drove the vehicle for two weeks without problem or reoccurrence. 8/25/14 all the brake warning lights and the vsc system warning came on. No problems with brakes when driving to the dealer. Dealer said abs computer needed to be replaced for $1500. My first repair was $780. I wanted to add my complaint about the braking system to those already submitted.
