9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

I was driving my vechicle yesterday that was just in the shop since Saturday saying that they replaced everything that was wrong because previously my breaks locked up on I-95 and I couldn't stop. I got the vechicle back yesterday and I was driving home from work and my breaks failed again causing me to rear end the person in front of me. I could not stop. Absolutely no breaks!! the vechicle was in motion trying to come to a complete stop. I believe the abs break aculator / module in the vechicle is bad. The company whom I bought it from I believe should take responsibility for this accident considering they're the ones who stated they fixed the vechicle.

Brake actuator we were never notified of any extended warranty coering this defect. 18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

The check vsc system error came on recently. It also came on a few years ago and then went away after a few days. It's now been up for weeks. The error that is triggering is c1391, and the repair shop says this is due to an abnormal leak in the accumulator. All of the brake-related lights are on constantly a few seconds after starting up the car and stay on until shutting it off. Sometimes the brakes randomly shut stop functioning as expected and do nothing when compressing. I didn't realize this was a recall when the car was still under warranty (and even after Toyota extended the warranty due to the fact this is such a wide and pervasive issue); otherwise, I would have taken it in to get it repaired as a precautionary measure. This repair was quoted to cost a minimum of $2,200. It would be ideal if Toyota would fix this part since it is a known issue and since no other major part of the car is faulty, even though the car has almost 200,000 miles on it. I feel Toyota has put lives at risk by not actively pursuing to contact owners of this model vehicle since the part they put on these cars is so faulty.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2018

Driving on a highway at 70mph when the dashboard lit up with several lights, including emergency, brake and abs, and a check vsc system indication. Luckily, I was able to cruise and carefully apply the brake at several intervals to stop. This is an ongoing and known abs actuator problem in 07 Toyota Camry Hybrids. The Toyota dealer will not cover the $3k cost to replace the actuator because it is past the 10 year limit. Please either issue a recall or extend the warranty. This is not safe for consumers.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Brakes depress more and take more pressure to brake. 06/4/2018. Car vibrates when braking over 50 miles per hour. Brake fluid reservoir was replaced 10/22/2016.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2018

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid I have had his car for 4 years and have been very satisfied with it till yesterday as I was driving down the road and my all the sudden this loud buzzing noise started I tapped the brakes and had no brakes I was going 55mph and had the brake to the floor with very lol brake I had to shift down to slow the car down thank god no one was in front of me or I would have wrecked. This is a faulty part from what I have read about and it's serious ! this should be a recall matter it's the braking system and brakes are needed ! my car has over 150000 so it did not qualify for the safety campaign. Also my understanding is there had to be a problem before it could be covered ! if I would have wrecked with my grandchild in this vehicle I would have a lawsuit against Toyota on this matter !! this needs to be looked into and should be recalled !.

22 Service Brakes problem

When I drive this car I press the brakes and they do not engage or they engage on a delay. . While driving I attempted brake to slow entry into uphill driveway. All lights on driver panel lit up. 27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2018

I just purchased the vehicle used at a dealership only to find out that the burping noise coming from the brake actuator and the constant running noise every 7 seconds was the part needing to be replaced again . Toyota stated I had just missed the 10 year extension on the part replacement , even though the car has 70k miles on it ,and would have to pay approximately 1700-2600$ for this replacement. Recall this part Toyota! how long NHTSA ?.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

I was driving my camry and as I approached traffic stopped at an intersection. I began to apply the brakes to slow down and stop when the brakes effectively quit. The instrument panel warning lights and warning horns began going off and I swerved off the road to avoid hitting the stopped cars in front of me. I down shifted the transmission and set the parking brake to bring the car to a stop. Needless to say it caught me by surprise and I am just glad I was driving and not one of my 16 year old twin boys! I was able to get into the parking lot of a close by gas station where I noticed the check vsc, brake and abs lights were all illuminated. At this point the brakes felt as if the power braking was inoperative. I slowly drove the vehicle to the nearest Toyota dealership and after doing a diagnostic test, the service team representative informed me the mechanic found the brake actuator is continually running. Losing pressure. although there I was able to avoid an accident, had the area to the right of the road not been clear, I would have probably hit several cars stopped at the intersection.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2018

While driving down a busy city street the 'check vsc system' message suddenly appeared along with many other warning lights on the dash and a warning sound. Braking and steering became very difficult. Luckily, I was able to pull over into a parking lot and get out of traffic. My car has had every manufacturer scheduled maintenance service performed for the life of the car.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2017

Today, December 11, 2017, while driving my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid vehicle on a city street in traffic, the 'check vsc system' warning came on. All dash lights including 'brakes' came on and vehicle became difficult to stop. There was no power assisted braking. Brake pedal was hard to engage and when vehicle came to a stop, there was a single "knock or bang" sound. This warning had come on previously without braking issue until last week when my wife told me she had a similar problem driving home from work. I cleaned and subsequently replaced the gas cap as per a you tube described repair of the check vsc warning. I then drove the car intermittently since that time without incident until today. My wife experienced the problem 12/7/2017.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. When the contact applied the brakes, the abs and vsc warning indicators illuminated. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. A mechanic was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure due to the dtc not being illuminated when it was inspected. The vehicle was taken to a dealer (nashville Toyota north, 2400 gallatin pike n, madison, TN 37115, (615) 868-7990) where it was diagnosed that the brake actuator needed to be replaced with a warranty repair. The dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the warranty enhancement was no longer available and the vehicle should have been repaired before the campaign ended on August 31, 2017. The contact received no documentation from the manufacturer pertaining to the warranty enhancement program. The manufacturer stated that they were aware that the failure was a known issue and there was a technical service bulletin on the brake system. The contact refused to repair the vehicle and indicated that the contact needed to replace the part. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2017

The hybrid batterie is not responding with the cars velocity. It turns off in the miďdle of my trip. I worry for my saftey and my families bcus I fear to have an accident due to that reason.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2017

"abs actuator extended warranties", in 2014 my car had two issues with the abs actuator and my dealership was unable to get the diagnostic code from them. Now my car is displaying "check vsc system" and many lights on my dash. When I brought it in to my Toyota dealership they said it is the abs actuator and it needs to be replaced. Toyota had 2 extended warranties for trouble with the abs actuator. Both of these warranties have now expired so my abs actuator cannot be fixed under the extended warranties. Because of this faulty part at anytime I am driving I can lose braking and steering power. I had filed a complaint before with your agency for this exact issue but there was no way for me to have the part changed when the extended warranties were in-force because the problem did not occur and as I said earlier my dealership could not get the diagnostic code from the first time these issues occurred.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2017

"abs actuator" Toyota knows there is an issue with the 2007 Camry Hybrid abs actuator, my dealership informed me 10/23/2017 that my abs actuator is going out. If this happens it will be hard to stop and or steer my car which is a very dangerous situation. I want to be sure this issue has been lodged with the NHTSA.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

Brakes go to the floor. 3 years ago, there was a extended warranty enhancement for a internal leak in the brake actuator assembly (c1391). The repair was covered under the extended warranty. Now, the exact same problem has occurred again. However this time, its past the warranty period and is a going to a 2k repair. This is a major safety issue that should be a recall, not an extended warranty.
