36 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

While driving on a street at 35 mph hit a bump in the road and the asb and brake lights came on red, and multi-information center showed chech vsc system. At the same time a car pulled out in front of me and brakes seemed to not work and required a heavy force on pedal for any stopping action. I was lucky no one was in left lane so I switched to it to keep from hitting the car that pulled out in front of me. Took car to shop and need to have abs mod. Replaced.

37 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the brakes failed. The contact mentioned that the traction warning light, the emergency brake light, the abs, and low tire pressure lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the brake actuator had to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

38 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2014

As I was backing up, the brakes went soft to the floor, and then all of a sudden the brakes engaged. It braked so hard, it felt like a hit something. A few days later, the brake light, traction control and abs lights turned on, and check vsc system displayed. I took it to Toyota and they said it was code-1391, abnormal leak in accumulator. The cost was going to be $2694. 00. I declined the repair, because I don't have money to repair.

39 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2014

While driving on highway my brake light turned on. I thought I left the emergency brake pedal down, but everything was fine. Suddenly all warning lights in dashboard turned on, as a reaction I tried to apply brakes and to my surprise my brakes wouldn't brake properly.

40 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

I wasn't driving my car when all the lights came on. But every brake light on the dash came on and a message read check vsc system. I had noticed that there was a sound the car makes when the car is not on. But I thought it was the car identifying the key was close because I always had the key with me when I would hear this sound. The mechanic who told me what the problem was told me that sound is related to this problem. The only place to get the part is through Toyota and estimated cost for the part is $2500. If this is a reoccurring problem that Toyota is aware of why are they not made to recall this item. This is a safety issue. Who has that kind of money to make a repair ?.

41 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2014

Upon depressing brake pedal (at stop or while moving), a loud "chirping" type noise repeats until brake pedal is released. My local dealer indicated it was the abs brake actuator that may be leaking internally, and that until it leaks externally would be ok to drive, although could be a few days or a few months before needing replacement. They estimated the cost of repair at $3,000. 00. About 45 days later, I am getting multiple warning lights on my dashboard, including the abs system, brake light (normally only on when I have the emergency brake engaged), check vsc system, and a general warning symbol. After doing some research online, I see there are up to 59 complaints already filed with the NHTSA regarding this issue, many indicating sudden brake loss. I feel I must take this immediately to a Toyota dealer for repair, even at the huge expense, and all while on the road during my family vacation as it may not be safe to drive at this time.

42 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

While driving up a slight incline the indicating lights on the dashboard suddenly illuminated - red brake system warning icon, red abs light, red brake light, red master warning light. In addition, the screen displayed "check vsc system" and an audible warning tone sounded. From about 6 months prior to this incident, the brake actuator motor would cycle on/off frequently after a trip. Over time, the duration of the on and off cycling after a trip gradually increased from about 30 seconds to approximately 90 seconds. The actuator motor also cycled when opening the door before a trip. Other symptoms that surfaced prior to this incident included frequent on/off cycling of the brake actuator motor at traffic light stops and an audible "barking" sound from under the hood. Research on the world-wide-web revealed many owners with same symptoms. Because the engine in the hybrid cars turn off during normal operation, engine vacuum is not readily available for the power brake assistance as found in conventional automobiles. Consequently, the failure of the power assist is due to the inadequate design of the hybrid system. Furthermore, I understand that the replacement brake actuator part that Toyota provides for the 2007 and 2008 Camry Hybrids has a different part no. Than the original one provided. This strongly suggests that Toyota recognizes its original brake actuator has a faulty design. I have not driven the car since this incident for fear of losing the power assist on the brakes. The local Toyota dealer has not replied to my inquiry on this matter. I also have a 2009 Camry Hybrid and although the brake actuator cycles on and off after opening the door before a trip and after the system is shutdown following the trip, the cycle is very short and the duration is no longer than 30 seconds. I do not have any brake problems with the 2009 model.

43 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2014

A week before the incident, heard a humming noise coming from the brake distributor area of the engine when the car was started. It continued at about 1-minute intervals while the car was in motion and also when parked and turned off. It would end within about 5 minutes of being turned off. It seemed as though the brakes were trying to engage or there was insufficient pressure to them. A day before the incident, when the brakes were engaged while driving, there would be a chirping noise as well. Then while driving on the highway, every brake-related warning light on the dashboard lit up and a message appeared saying, "maintenance required. Check vsc system. " the brakes didn't fail, though, so I was able to make it home. This is not the first time I have had vsc system issues in this car. 3 years ago the very same thing happened, again on the highway, where the brake warning lights lit up on the dashboard and the vsc warning message came on as well. For about 3 weeks before that, the brakes were chirping when engaged and also when the car was shut off and parked, they would chirp for a long time as if they were trying to engage then too. It cost me $2100 to replace the module. Now it's happening again. I am not prepared to risk brake failure nor pay an exorbitant amount of money on the braking system for this car, again. Toyota needs to take responsibility for poor, shoddy design and fix this issue immediately!.

44 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2014

Abs actuators is failures on 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid 71k miles: abs light is on, the e-brake light is on even when the e-brake is disengaged, and the car is saying to check the vsc system. The brakes are also noticeably weaker to the extent that I am afraid to drive my kids!!!!!.

45 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

Warning brake light came on ( the emergency brake one) while I was out driving. The emergency brake was not engaged. Tried to get the car home and at a light when I went to take off, the car started to move then suddenly stopped in the intersection, but the car was still running. I turned on my flashers, and restarted the car. The "check vsc system" warning came on and I drove the car slowly home. The brakes were very spongy, like there was hardly any braking power.

46 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

The brake light illuminated on my dash as I was sitting in stop and go traffic. About 10 minutes later, I was traveling about 55 mph and attempted to push my brakes to stop for a stop light. The brakes did not respond normally and it took about 4 times as long to get the car to stop compared to normal responsiveness. Simultaneously, my entire dash board lit up with warning lights. I proceeded to pull over to a safe place, going maybe 10mph, I went to park and rolled into the curb in front of my car because I could not get the brakes to stop the car. I placed the car in park. All indicator lights cleared and brakes started working again. I had the car towed to a Toyota certified mechanic, who told me that nothing had registered in the computer. The car was then driven a bit to try to recreate the problem and towed to a Toyota dealer. Eventually the c1345 and c1468 codes appeared. Toyota was contacted and recommended the accumulator assembly be replaced, brake system bleed, reset memory and calibrated linear valve. Expensive repair was completed and the car is now driving again.

47 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2014

On April 12, 2014, as the car was being driven at around 30-35 miles per hour, I was approaching a stop sign and began pressing down on the brakes to come to a stop. As I pressed on the brakes, they seemed not to work. I had to keep pushing down on the brakes with force to finally get try to get the car to stop, at which point the brake lights sensor, the abs sensor, and the vsc sensors all lit up on the dashboard. As I was trying to get the car to stop, the car began swerving and I couldn't get immediate control of the car. The car felt as though it was sliding, the stability of the car was compromised. I honestly thought I was going to crash. On April 17th, 2014,in a separate incident, as I was pulling into a parking lot, I began to slow down, only to apply my brakes and they appeared to not work. Once again I had to really push down on the brakes for them to finally work. Again, all of the lights lit up on the dashboard (brakes, abs, vsc). It was also difficult to control the car and again, I felt as though I was going to crash.

48 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2014

Driving on the interstate at 65 miles per hour, I saw brake lights ahead, so I applied brakes. My vehicle failed to slow down at the normal rate and I noticed increased resistance on the brake pedal. I applied as much pressure as possible to the brake pedal and the vehicle eventually stopped to avoid a collision. I brought the car to Toyota and said problem is due to abs accumulator. The vehicle never presented a computer code from problem. Problem was found by logging the abs accumulator sensor and it was reporting consistently losing brake pressure. The price for the replacement part is $2626 for just the part. Two months prior to this incident, the dash lights came on with warning to "check vsc system". Brought the car to the Toyota dealer and they said it was due to low rear brakes, replaced pads, rotors and reset the vsc system. The new part is also an updated version according to Toyota, which signifies that Toyota knows there is an issue with the original part.

49 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2014

Driving on freeway at approximately 45 miles per hour during rush hour. Brake lights appeared ahead, so I applied brakes. My vehicle failed to stop or slow down and I noticed increased resistance on the brake pedal. I continued to apply pressure to the brake pedal and the vehicle eventually stopped. Luckily, there was a good distance between me and the car ahead of me, and I was eventually able to stop and avoid collision. I brought the car to the shop to be checked out. The shop called Toyota, and they knew right away exactly what part needed to be replaced. Price tag of $2600 for just the part. A week prior to this incident, dash lights came on with warning to "check vsc system". Brought the car in for for oil change and to check the warning light. No problem was detected, the warning light was reset. This light had come on again just prior to the brake failure.

50 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2014

April 5, 2014 brake actuator malfunction. The visual of this problem occurred on three separate occasions while driving at varying speeds. On each occasion the emergency brake light came on and within a few minutes many of the warning/emergency lights (engine check, abs, vcs, brake, etc. ) on the dashboard came on. The brakes then became very spongy to the point I had to press very hard to get the camry to stop. It could have been disastrous if I had had to stop to avoid a crash. After the first occurrence, I took the camry to tejas Toyota to have it checked. The diagnostic information from the computer indicated nothing was wrong. I was instructed by the Toyota service manager to bring it in while it was happening, if possible, so they could see what was going on. On April 5th, the problem occurred again and we drove it directly to tejas. The problem was still occurring when they connected their computer to check the vehicles onboard computer. Their computer diagnosed the brake actuator assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced, and due to the faulty actuator, the brake pads on the both front and rear had to be replaced and the braking system flushed. The cost of the actuator with labor to install was over $3,500, total bill almost $4,200. Tejas personnel did a great job repairing the problem and getting the vehicle back to me. I called the Toyota main customer service number and spoke with one of their representatives, todd lewis. He created case # 1404141818 and I was instructed to fax (not email but fax) a copy of the invoice I received from tejas to him. Which I did. He spoke to the higher ups in Toyota and called me back today (4/16). Toyota management denied it was their responsibility to pay the repair costs because the vehicle was past the initial warranty period. I believe Toyota is responsible due to faulty design of their actuator.

51 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

The check vsc system on. Vsc, abs & brake lights lit up. Went to the dealer to computer diagnose, they said there is a few code. They want to be pay first before they will give me an estimate for the repair. So I went to a outside repair shop for diagnose cost $35. They said the brake acuator need to be replace. Will cost $2000. 00. Now the abs & traction control is no working. I am afraid this car will cause accident or kill someone.

52 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2014

I have been using this camry since mid 2006. So far it has not had many major issues. However out of the blue on March 23rd 2014, when I was planning to drive to a temple almost 50 miles from my house with my wife, 2 month old daughter, mother and mother-in-law in the car, just as we pulled out of the drive way, the check vsc message came on and the brake light, the car slipping light and the bas lights came on on the dash and as I tried to brake, the brakes completely failed. Luckily since I was only rolling out of my drive way (in reverse), the car only rolled a little bit and there was no cross traffic on the road. I had to press my parking brakes to bring the car to a halt. I was scared to death with my family members in the car there was no way I was driving it in that condition. I tried shutting off the car and waiting for 5 minutes before turning it on. The message came on again and the brakes were unresponsive. I immediately moved my family to another car to continue our trip. I then cautiously moved the car back on to the driveway with my left leg on the emergency brakes so that I don't run into my house. After searching the web and seeing many such reports, the next day (today 3/24) I tried to move the car again and see if the message disappeared. However it was there and when I reversed a little bit, suddenly the message and the lights disappeared and the brakes were working as normal. I am still not driving the car, thankfully I have 3 cars so I am using the other cars. I hope Toyota does a recall on this because I don't want to spend $3500+ on a car that may not be more than $8000 value today. I was planning to get a 2014 sienna soon but reading about the safety issues with Toyota's my faith and loyalty in this brand is now severely shaken.

53 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2014

I was driving on the service road of the interstate highway approximately 20 mph. I felt the car jerk forward slightly followed by numerous warning indicator lights including brake light, check vsc system and abs. I immediately tried to brake because there was a car approximately 10 feet in front of me. The brake pedal would not depress. It felt as if the brakes had gone out. The lights then disappeared a few minutes later and brakes worked properly. I had just purchased the car six days earlier. Interestingly, when I test drove the car, the same event happened, but I was tapping my brakes during a slow right turn yielding to traffic, and didn't notice the loss of brakes. 2 events in 6 days. My car is now at the Toyota service center. I am afraid to drive it with this intermittent brake issue. I have to believe based on reading other complaints and recalls that Toyota is aware of this issue and isn't properly concerned about expediting the recall. This is a serious issue with potential deadly consequences. I hope the recall is issued soon. My car is not drivable in it's current defective condition.

54 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2014

I was driving my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid and went to brake and my dash emergency lights, brake light, check vsc light, abs, and traction control light went on and my brakes did not work. I was able to slow down without incident. Took it to two mechanics then finally to a Toyota dealership. The Toyota dealership could not fins anything wrong with it and sent me on my way. Two weeks later it happened again. My wife was driving just over 40 mph and applied the brakes and they did not work. She was able to swerve into a parking lot and cruise to a stop. The brakes work intermittently and come and go. Moving the car to a parking spot a few minutes later the brakes did not work when I started to move the car, but while moving it the warning lights went off and the brakes started to work again. This is a reoccurring problem that you do not know when the brakes will go out. The is a serious issue that needs to be looked at immediately.

55 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

For the last couple of months have noticed the brake pedal "pulsing" on starting the car and sometimes on stopping at intersections. Then the brake warning light came on intermittently whilst driving but with no impact on the brakes and then whilst exiting the freeway all the brake warnings lights and check vsc system message was displayed with loss of assisted braking. Took it straight to the dealership but on braking to enter the inspection bay all warning lights went out. Toyota technician couldn't find an error code in the history and after driving 15 miles the warning lights didn't come back on. Technician did comment that they'd had other Camry Hybrids with similar issues and said the abs actuator needed replacing at a cost of $3,400! I was told that Toyota are using a different part on later model Camry Hybrids which in itself seems an acknowledgement that the part is faulty.

56 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

I turned on my car after dropping my daughter to school in the morning (around 8:30 am). I noticed the dash board is showing "check vsc system" and the brake warning light is on. I tried to drive in slow speed (10 mph) and pressed on brake but the car is not stopping as fast as I expect. I tried to drive up to about 10mph again and applied brake; the result is same: car fails to stop fast. The warning lights were still on at this point. I pulled over by the curb, opened the hood and visually inspected levels of brake fluid. Fluid level looked normal. When I sat back in the driving seat, I noticed all the warning lights are off. Then tried driving and applied brake. Everything is normal. I scheduled an appointment with the dealership for Wednesday 3/5/2014. I suspect something is not right with my vehicle.

57 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2014

Brake light and "check vsc" system illuminated while exiting interstate. Braking force dropped by about 75% as if only rear brakes were functional. Was able to slow eventually and pull over and shut off car. Restarted car after a few minutes and neither brake light nor check vsc came on. Slowly drove car to dealership and am awaiting diagnosis.

58 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2014

When driving around 45mph, all the brake lights, abs came on. When checked with Toyota dealer, they mentioned that we need to replace brake actuator. It costs about $3000. Based on internet research, it looks like 2007 Camry Hybrid have a possible defect. Looks like similar part was recalled recently with prius make, I would like to know why Toyota is not recalling the other makes. It seems to be wide spread problem with 2007 Camry Hybrid.

59 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2014

I was on my way to work driving approx 40 miles per hour, all of a sudden my dash says "check vsc system",red brake light turns on,abs light turns on and low tire pressure light turns on. I immediately check my brakes,I have no brakes! I just kept pumping trying to get anything out of them. I started moving over to my right (nearly side swiped a car) and pulled into a strip mall. After calming down,I drove slowly around the parking lot to see if I had brakes. All of the lights stayed on but my breaks were back,I continued the last mile to work. At this point,as I used the breaks,my rotors felt extremely warped. After researching online if anyone else had had the same problem,I found tons of people having the exact same issue, "c1391". I called my local Toyota dealer, explained the problem and what I thought it might be,he took my VIN# and gave me a quote of $3200 to repair. At that point,I called Toyota corporate offices and filed a complaint, they did some research to see if any of the issue was a recall,of course it wasn't. I told the guy that I guess in order for it to be a recall there needs to be an overwhelming amount of accidents to occur,or people need to die,or a class action lawsuit needs to happen. He took down all of my info, told me I needed to take it to Toyota to be diagnosed and then to call the Toyota"out of warranty assistance department" for possible help with the bill. I took the car to Toyota,it was diagnosed just as all of the other cars I read about were "c1391" internal abnormal leak with the break accuator. Between Toyota corporate office and Toyota they were able to help me out with some of the bill even though the car was no longer under warranty. It wasn't completely covered in the least bit, but it made it a little more manageable.

60 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2014

Slowing down exit ramp from highway. . No brakes pedal to the floor had to downshift and use parking brake to stop. . Dashboard lights brake light lit. . This is the third time this has happened and dealer says to replace nitrogen booster for $2500 but it happen when the weather is less than 45 degrees twice in florida once in PA.

61 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2014

I was driving on street that had several potholes in both lanes. Lanes were blocked by barrels because of the roadwork being done. There were too many potholes to Dodge and none seemed significantly bigger than the rest. Since I was unable to swerve, because of traffic going the other way in the lane beside me, I hit a series of potholes. After the last one, which seemed a little bigger than the others, I heard a beep and the display read, "check vsc," which I know from the last time this happened means "vehicle stability control. " the parking brake light seemed to come on at that time. I could not get the car to roll any but instead had to hit the accelerator to move at all. The brake was not as powerful, so I had to be sure to brake in plenty of time. The steering seemed more restricted also, and there was a high-pitched buzzing that continued all the time unless the car was off with all doors shut. I live close by, so I was able to get my car back home but did not think it was safe to drive it to the dealership. I had aaa tow it a few days later. They told me at the dealership that a part of the anti-lock brake system would have to be replaced. They later found that one of the lines involved in keeping the engine cool was leaking and the water pump had to be replaced.

62 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2014

My wife was driving from work as she was approaching a stop light she hit the brakes to stop. To her surprise almost all the lights on the dashboard came on simultaneously. And there was no brakes so instead of hitting the car in front of her she went over the curve to avoid hitting the car. It cost us a rim and tire. I m just glad she or someone else wasn't injured. Since then my wife refuses to drive the car never again she told me and wished me good luck. I have drove the car myself and have experience the same issue where all the abs and brake lights come on and there's total loss of brakes. I have taken the vehicle to the mechanic and told me is the abs actuator pump that goes bad without notice. He told me its not the first time a customer has came in with this problem on the 2007 and 2008. I guess they change something on abs pumps on the 2009 and newer vehicles that's why they don't have this problem. I just hope the NHTSA looks into this defect part before somebody gets hurt or kill. Its a serious problem especially when your dealing with vehicle brakes not functioning the way there suppose to that we all depend on. The reason why Toyota haven't done a voluntary recall is because of the cost of the abs actuator it's expansive at around 2,500 to 3,000 they know they have a problem in there hands. But if they refuse to acknowledge this problem is going to cost them more if somebody gets seriously hurt or kill .

63 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

While driving at a low rate of speed the brake light on my dashboard came on and a warning 'check vsc' along with other lights on my dashboard all came on and the brakes no longer worked as usual. I had to apply considerable pressure to the brake pedal and was able to coast on to a side street. The lights on my dashboard all went off and the car then functioned as normal. I drove to the store I was going to went in for about 15 minutes then returned to my vehicle. As I was backing out of my parking spot the same issue as stated above happened again. I drove the car straight to price leblanc Toyota, my dealership. Without turning the ignition off I handed the car over to the service department. They were unable to find a code from the car that would tell them what the issue was. They kept the car for 3 days and were unable to recreate the problem.

64 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brake was engaged and failed to respond. The contact mentioned that the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

65 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

When I went to start my car which was still in my garage, I pressed my foot on the brake and pushed the "on" button. Immediately I felt the brake "push back" and had to pump it once or twice to bring it back to normal. Over the course of the next six weeks, this would occasionally happen again. In addition, and more troubling, was that sometimes, when I was parked in a parking lot, and then started the car, something slightly different happened. When I pressed on the brake and started the car, instead of feeling resistance it seemed that the brake was going all the way to the floor but my car was slowly rolling backwards. After pumping the brake a couple of times, it reverted to normal. Finally, on 1/22/2014, the "check vsc system" warning suddenly came on as I was driving, as well as the antilock brake light, the regular brake light, the engine light, and the triangular hybrid warning light. The car was driving okay, but the lights all remained on until I brought my car into the dealer a few days later. The service department informed me that my brake accumulator had blown a fuse and had to be replaced. They stated they had no knowledge of this type of problem occurring in the Camry Hybrids. I paid $3400 to have the accumulator replaced. The next morning I read a news blurb in the newspaper about the investigation into the early Camry Hybrid models' brake problems and researched it further and ended up at this NHTSA site. My concern is that even though my accumulator has been replaced, has the root of the problem been addressed, or do I have to worry about the same thing happening again? I feel that this is a dangerous defect that could cause accidents, and I feel lucky that I had my problem addressed before anything more harmful occurred.

66 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2013

I was driving our family car and all of a sudden the abs light came on along with the brake light and others. Car was difficult to stop. My husband told me to shut off the car and restart. That temporarily solved the problem but it then happened again 2 days later. It is not safe to drive!.

67 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

While driving during rush hour traffic, the car's brake light came on and then 5-10 seconds later a "check vsc" messaged displayed on the message screen along with several warning lights (abs, traction control, and main warning). The brakes became very soft (like a car with no power brakes) but would slow the vehicle down. I slowed down and gave myself plenty of braking distance to get it home. After 10 minutes, the warning message and lights disappeared and the brakes returned to normal operations. This appeared to be a temporary glitch. Since this first appeared, the problem has occurred 3 times while driving. The local Toyota dealership determined that the abs actuator was failing and quoted me $3,100 to repair it. Another symptom of this failure is a constant on/off buzzing noise coming from the abs actuator and a "chirping" noise when your foot is on the brake petal during a stop. The situation also appears to get worse when the temperature drops. I don't drive the vehicle anymore. There is no recall or service bulletin documenting this problem. The replacement part is the original design costing $2,750 and will fail again. I also contacted Toyota about this problem and told them it was a major safety hazard. They offered some financial assistance but the repair is still going to be expensive. On this website and other internet forums, this problem is a common complaint for this vehicle. I believe the NHTSA needs to investigate this problem before a major accident or fatality occurs. I find this problem to be unacceptable for a Toyota especially with only 70,500 miles on it.

68 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

Under wet conditions, my brake warning light appeared just as I was approaching a red light, I found I had no power brakes, and barely managed to avoid entering the intersection. I took my car in for repair, they told me there was a problem with my abs system, and the only way to fix it was to just replace the actuator assembly for ~$3,000.

69 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2013

The parking brake light comes on while driving , about a minute later the check vsc light comes on and the power brakes fail, you can still stop with the brake, but you have to really press hard on the brake, after driving a couple miles or a few minutes the brakes will return to normal. Very disconcerting and dangerous, afraid to drive this car.

70 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

My 2007 Camry Hybrid has braking issues. I have the pumping noise when brakes are depressed, which just keeps getting louder. Earlier this year I almost slammed into the cars in front of me once when, while I was coming to a stop all my brake lights came on and my car shot forward. I had to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me. Thankfully there were no cars in the oncoming lane at that moment. Once I was stopped all the lights went off and I backed up into a driveway to get out of traffic. Very scary.
