3 Wiper problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/06/2019

My camry has 6k miles on it. On Friday, 6 Dec 2019 at 1600, I picked up my camry from yuba city Toyota after having its first vehicle service. While driving on hwy 20 towards grass valley, CA less than 20 min after picking it up, I heard an extremely loud explosion over my head. It truly sounded like a gun went off in my car. I ducked, looked around and realized it was probably the sunroof because I could hear air blowing. I was on a four lane section of hwy with absolutely no cars in front of me and a car a few hundred yards behind me. There were no trees overhead and it was a clear evening outside with no rain. It was approximately 55 degrees outside also. This was not caused by any objects. Fortunately, I had the inside panel closed and did not have any glass fly into my face. This is extremely dangerous. I filed a claim with Toyota and they are working the issue now, but it sounds as if they will not accept responsibility due to it creating a future problem with claims. I was driving 60mph also.

4 Wiper problem of the 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

The windshield is severely distorted. During the daytime, while moving, or seeing moving objects, it is unusually hard to judge speed and distance due to the distortions. At nighttime, the distortions bend, twist lights and headlights making driving very dangerous. Multiple visits to the dealer and a visit from a Toyota factory representative to inspect the windshield have been met with refusal to make repairs. The factory representative does acknowledge windshield defects but says "they are comparable to like vehicles. " he refused to examine other new "like" models with me because his assertion is erroneous.

5 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/11/2019

TSB-l-sb-0144-11 sticky/melting dashboard the car is 6 months beyond the date of the warranty enhancement period. Since the condition of shiny stickiness of the dashboard did not come to my attention until after the enhancement period, I believe that I am nevertheless entitled to the repair of the dashboard by Toyota and that coverage should be also extended to the replacement of certain ancillary parts related to the replacement that might be damaged as a result of the warranty repair. There is no valid reason that the warranty enhancement should have expired as this condition is dangerous and needs to be corrected on all affected vehicles regardless of an arbitrary period set by Toyota.

6 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

The dashboard pad has deteriorated within the last two years. It is gooey. When I have brought the vehicle in for service at the local dealership and mentioned it, it was not addressed. I called Toyota headquarters twice and they said that there was a notification but it has expired. So, they will not honor a request to replace the pad. I never received the notifications they allege they sent. The pad is really dangerous since it reflects off the windshield and is blinding when driving on the highway or city streets. The part itself costs over $1,000; I do not know what labor and tax costs are. I am the original owner of this car and have maintained it through tofficial oyota service.

11 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The driver's side visor does not stay up. This causes a safety issue as it can block my vision. This occurs either while stationary or moving, speed doesn't seem to effect it.

12 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

My dashboard is melting. When it solidifies it becomes extremely reflective and obstructs the windshield view.

13 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

While I was driving at about 65 mph on a four lane divided highway, the driver's visor suddenly and unexpectedly rotated completely down, blocking my view out of the windshield so that I could not see ahead. It was a dangerous and frightening situation! I had to keep control of the car while holding the visor up so that I could get home safely and then get the car to the repair facility. Toyota knew that this safety hazard existed and was serious because it did a "warranty enhancement notice" for 2007 to 2011 Camry Hybrid sun visor brackets, but this expired for my car in may of 2016.

14 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

This vehicle was subject to a customer satisfaction program because driver-side sun visors would stop staying up and drop down without warning. We had our highlander visor replaced under this late 2012 program. It was an extreme safety hazard. Now the camry which is our cream puff has the problem and Toyota said the csp has expired. They treated it as a cosmetic annoyance but it's a huge safety issue for drivers 6' tall or more. This happens in many situations but is most dangerous on the highway. 15 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/12/2016

Visor recall: I noticed that the visor on the drivers side was gradually coming down and despite asking my local dealership to look into it, the problem was deferred and I was asked to wait until it got much worse. Last week it actually came close to a point of becoming detached altogether; I reviewed the warranty/extended warranty information on the issue and to my surprise I realized that was an extended warranty coverage on this problem (vehicles 2007-2011); however upon calling Toyota I was told that my vehicle was never a part of the extended warranty ztt and even if it was I wouldn¿t qualify since I was outside of the 7 years of time limit. I never received any notification, neither the dealer made me aware of the problem, and now I am put in a position where I have to get it replaced with out of pocket expenses (not cheap ~ 295. 00 parts + labor + taxes). Besides it is a safety concern the entire visor can become detached while driving potentially leading to serious injury and accidents. I had a similar issue with my electronic braking system - actuator that I had replaced by paying $2150 out of pocket and made a compliant to nhtsb and later due to a numerous compliants a wider recall was issued and I was reimbursed by Toyota. Hope this issue gets looked into since there are a large number of similar complaints on the website forum.

16 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Engines oil being consumed at an accelerated and driver and passenger sun visors loose which hinders drivers view while driving because they flop downwards and do not stay at a recommended angle to block sun during use.

17 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

I'm responding to the known issue. I have a sticky shiny dashboard that chips very easily. It feels like paint that's not cured.

18 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

Toyota had a recall 'fix' for the visor on drivers side braking and falling down but they only fixed the left drivers and not the right psgrs side which they should have replaced both at the time. Now my right side is broken and inhibiting my ability to view any traffic on the right side due to it's hanging down and won't go up at all.

19 Wiper problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

On approximately July 19, 2016, I was driving westbound at 60 mph in heavy traffic on I-85 during the early evening in durham, nc. The sun was low in the sky and I pulled the driver side sun visor down to shield my eyes from the sun's glare. The next thing I knew was that the sun visor was in my hand and I was struggling to see the vehicle ahead of me so that I would not hit it. I was totally startled not only by the glare of the sun after the visor failed, but also by the failure of the visor itself. The visor had completely separated from its support arm. I immediately went to the local Toyota dealership and ordered a replacement sun visor. While there, a service advisor told me that Toyota had a recall and extended warranty on some 2011 camry sun visors. He offered to look up my car to see if it was on the list. It wasn't, but he said that cars on the list had visors that failed in the same way as mine had. Even though my car was not on the list, the service advisor recommended that I contact Toyota, which I did. The Toyota extended warranty is designated "ztt" and affects many camrys, including some manufactured in 2011, but before my car was manufactured. An internet search shows pictures of visors among the extended warranty vehicles that failed in exactly the same manner as mine had. Yesterday, I received a letter stating that Toyota would not pay for a replacement visor so I 'm writing to inform you of this dangerous situation which could lead to serious injury or death, as nearly happened to me.

20 Wiper problem of the 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Driver side sun visor became loose and did not retain its position. It dropped down and blocked my vision causing me to veer off the road. Sun visor then detached completely from hinge. Cat now has no way to block sun and I have to drive one handed to block the sun light.

21 Wiper problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/23/2016

Driving slowly, straight ahead, city street, right passenger mirror exploded with a big bang. Looking inside, plastic linkages that link the mirror to the adjustment motor assembly were broken. Lane assist leds continued to work but the mirror, hanging loose from its shroud, was useless. I hadn't adjusted the mirror in months. . Car was 1 month out of warranty - parts and labor to replace ~$400. Googling I discovered I'm not the first person to have this problem.

22 Wiper problem of the 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/24/2015

Windshield contains a defect from the factory in the laminate in the direct driver line of sight with the road. It appears as a dark gray mark about 2 inches long by 1/4 inch wide. Issue was report to Toyota service center at first maintenance interval (5,000 miles). It causes a reflection at night from lights (on coming cars, street lights, etc). This is a safety issue given the location and distraction it causes.

23 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/02/2014

I have 2 complaints. 1) I was driving in local traffic when 5 warning lights appeared: master warning light, brake warning light, electronically controlled brake warning, abs, slip indicator. I was surprised but my brakes continued to work on the drive home & to the dealership the next day. The lights never went off (some other owners have reported the lights go on & off). I do not have cold weather conditions (50s in Dec). The dealership investigated & found it was consistent with the problem covered by the warranty enhancement program (pol14-04 or NHTSA 14001) for the brake actuator assembly & skid control ecu/brake pedal stroke sensor, & also an open recall on my car for a separate item with my brakes. My car symptoms were: when stopped at a light, the car would roll forward by inches unless I had my foot firmly depressed (knee locked); noises which sounded like air moving through tubing while braking; noises that sounded like a "pump" activating after my car had been turned off (up to 15 minutes). 2) Toyota has an open extended warranty (csc 10046281-9238) on the sun visor assembly & sun visor bracket including the 2009 Camry Hybrid. My car has had this same problem for ~4 years: the driver's side sun visor will not fully go up & remain there. Most of the time it rests halfway down but from time to time it will come down with no warning. This blocks the driver's field of vision. What is frustrating is that I spoke to both the dealership & the Toyota customer service center who both agree my problem sounds exactly like the problem described in this extended warranty. However, the part number for my car (74320-33c11-b0) is not listed among the accepted parts number, and my VIN doesn't match the listed vins. I hope corporate Toyota will look into this and extend me the courtesy of repairing my sun visor! (dealer cost ~$250).

Failure Date: 08/13/2014

Dashboard on my 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid bought in florida new has become a danger to driving do to the shinny and stickiness on the dashboard. Back in August 13, 2014 I noticed when driving in the daylight the glare from the dashboard distorts your view the problem it seems to be getting worse I called the Toyota dealership where I bought the car and I told the service manager the problem he said they know about it and there is nothing they can do. Failure Date: 08/06/2014

28 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/29/2014

The dash is has become soft and shiny, others online have had similar issues "melting camry dash" or "sticky camry dash". The safety issue is that the dash is so shiny now (was not originally) it reflects light back onto the windshield making it difficult to see out.

29 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 02/09/2014

I started to feel sticky spots on the top-side dashboard facing windshield. The soft, sticky spots were accumulating light-colored dust over the past year. They were not greasy, but extremely sticky and tacky to the touch. The accumulated dust was not cleanable or able to be removed without damaging dashboard material. (I rubbed off the top layer of plastic trying to gently clean with a wet poly towel). They were starting to reflect off my windshield during daytime driving. I ignored this issue for a while but lately noticed the interior glare is getting worse toward the front of my dashboard at the windshield junction. It's especially present on bright days where the sun is high up. This is presenting a potentially serious safety issue with regards to outward driving visibility. Toyota has been contacted and I started a problem case with them. I am awaiting further instructions on what Toyota wants to do next with my vehicle. A special "warranty enhancement" has been started to address this "cosmetic concern. " please look into this potentially serious safety issue to ensure Toyota is addressing this problem appropriately and expeditiously for owners.

Rear windshield exploded while sitting in driveway on 8/15/15. Dashboard very shiny and sticky, causing a horrible glare. The glare gets so bad that sometimes I can't see other drivers. Toyota says they will replace it when parts come in, it's been 2 years since then and still no parts. In the meantime, the glare gets worse. It's just a matter of time before an accident occurs.
