37 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

I was driving home on CA highway 80 west from work when suddenly, my driver side visor dropped down in front of my windshield. I am disappointed with this Toyota part because it has been an issue since I purchased this model in 2009. This visor does not seem to return to it's up position completely since 2009. Now, in 2013, this visor has completely failed to return to it's upright position and can obstruct my view when I drive. I wish Toyota would replace this visor since it is a "safety" issue when a part can obstruct the driver's side. I am also part of a carpool for my child and this will definitely be an issue when I drive several kids in my car.

38 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/29/2012

The windshield is delaminating (coming apart) at the perimeter. I am concerned that it will completely separate. The vehicle is a hybrid, which has a special noise insulating windshield.

39 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Driver's-side visor does not hold it's position anymore. Hit my head during driving and cannot be put into place. Doesn't hold and stays flopped down even when clipped into holder. Driving hazard especially in less than ideal driving conditions.

Failure Date: 08/07/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota camry. The contact stated that while driving, the sun visor fell from its housing and would not remain upright. The visor was blocking the contact's view of the road. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The contact made attempts to notify the manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000.

41 Wiper problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/06/2012

Wife was driving on freeway in scottsdale when a small rock impacted lower left of windshield. Over the period of 2 hours a crack 3 feet long developed across drivers side of windshield. There are numerous reports of this happening on the internet for the Camry Hybrid since 2007. This appears to be manufacturers defect in engineering design or manufacture. Toyota is not addressing the issue, since they make a lot of money on the windshield replacement (>$1,200 for a windshield? give me a break). Have numerous rock chips in windshields of other vehicles that do not result in this type of damage.

43 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/30/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that the driver's side sun visor was fractured and would not remain upright in its housing. The sun visor was obstructing the contact's view of the roadway. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. There were no recalls for the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. 44 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/25/2012

I found the passenger side sun visor is broken caused by nothing. The visor does not stay in place. Instead it is dangling, flopping around to affect visibility while driving. It looks like the visor part is open so the hinge can not work as designed. I am not sure it is related to texas hot summer but certainly this is a quality issue that Toyota should recall or fix the problem. I am reporting this to here since I believe it affects safety on the road.

45 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

2007 model year Toyota camrys were manufactured using a dashboard material that deteriorates with exposure to sunlight. Specifically, the plastic becomes very shiny, very tacky, and easy to damage. When the sun angle is correct, the light reflects off the shiny plastic, and then reflects off the windshield into the driver's eyes, producing a glare that represents, in my opinion, a safety hazard. A considerable amount of plasticizer is also being deposited daily on the windshield inner surface, producing a whitish haze that reduces visibility and increases scattered light. Numerous Toyota camry (and some Lexus) owners are reporting the same problem, primarily in locations that receive more sunlight (florida, texas, puerto rico, and hawaii, for example, as an internet search can easily show; to see a video, search on youtube for "Toyota camry sticky dashboard"). Some 2008 model year Toyota camrys are beginning to show the same problem. Note that 2007 was the first year of the redesigned camry model. Much older camrys are not showing this problem, thus it seems clear that Toyota switched to a different dashboard material starting with the 2007 model year, but only now is it becoming clear that the chosen material is inappropriate for the intended use. Toyota has known about this problem for months, yet no safety recall has been issued as of this writing.

46 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 01/17/2012

The driver side visor will not go down all the way (against the windshield) and neither will it stay up (against the car interior ceiling). When it flops down it obscures visibility into the rearview mirror as well as out the windshield. There is no anticipating when it will come down. The only way to get it out of the way is to push it against the driver side window, thus obscuring that view and providing no protection against the sun's glare when needed. I have read countless accounts of this same situation among owners of this same vehicle. I have read that some part of the visor is defective and has been redesigned. This is an unsafe situation which Toyota has, in my opinion, admitted there is a problem. I resent having to spend the money to replace this part myself but I will have to. I hope I can before something happens.

47 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/28/2011

The dash on the camry becomes very tacky and reflective, especially during warmer weather. Obscures vision through windshield due to glare and reflection. Also concerned of any toxic fumes which may be released due to this chemical reaction in an enclosed cabin of a vehicle.

48 Wiper problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The dashboard of my 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid is melting!! the melting is creating a glare on the windshield making it very hard to see at times. A simple internet search will yield you 100's of results of the same complaint for this make/model. Toyota is aware of the issue as they have changed the material used on the dash. My inquiries to Toyota corp and the dealership where I bought my vehicle are not being taken seriously and I really fear that the visibility issues can result in death or accidents. Currently, there is a class-action lawsuit for their sister company, Lexus, regarding the recalling of their dashboards using the same exact material. It is unfair that Toyota corp is only addressing the needs of their luxury model car owners and creating an environment that is unsafe for me and my children. April at Toyota corp told me today that it's not a craftmanship issue- it's the climate in which I live. The negligence in this matter is so apparent and I am disappointed that they are allowed to get away with this. This is my second time dealing with Toyota corp on this issue. The previous time was in September of last year.

49 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 04/20/2011

The vehicle dashboard has been melting on hot days resulting in a shiny, mirror like surface that reflects sunlight and glares the windshield reducing visibility. The melted dashboard surface is very sticky and could affect the airbag functionality as the airbag cover could fuse with the surrounding melted dashboard surface. I also wonder if the dashboard is releasing any toxic substances as it melts.

50 Wiper problem of the 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 12/12/2010

Driver side sun visor falls down unexpectedly. Will not stay in place except for full down position. This has been since the car was new. Was searching for how to fix it and found link to here. I understand that this is a common problem with all Toyota visors and is due to bad design and poor materials. Toyota does not stand behind it and the replacement visors are the same junk as original.

51 Wiper problem of the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/08/2010

I had several incidents for my Camry Hybrid in the past years which are related to safety 1) on 11/28/10, while driving in rainy situation on local street at low speed, the driver side wiper stopped working causing bad visibility. I pull over to street side and rain stopped after a while. I drove the car to a nearby Toyota dealer. Diagnosis is "wiper arm slipped splines" 2) on 4/16/10, while driving on street at low speed (30 mph) heavy smoke came out of driver side window switch. After I pulled over and turned off the engine, the smoke stopped. Car was towed to a nearby Toyota dealer and diagnostic was switch locked on "on" position. I believe this is one of the Toyota "recall" case. 3) about 11/2013, while driving on freeway the tire air pressure light went on. I drove back to Toyota dealer and was told it was because of cold weather. No fix was performed. However, the light went on / off since then and after a month stayed on all the time. Brought the car to dealer again and they found a faulty sensor for tire air pressure. Luckily all incidents did not involve crash / injury. However, I am very disappointed / concerned on my car's safety / reliability.
