1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 Toyota Celica

Failure Date: 11/22/2006

My car was making a noise. I took it to several mechanics and was told it was something with the transmission. I have a standard manual transmission and my car had 65,000 miles on it when the noise began. The last mechanic I took it to said that this problem should not be happening with a standard transmission at the mileage it's at. I opened a case with Toyota and was told that I had to have it looked at by Toyota mechanics. They opened up the transmission and told me that the bearings inside had gone bad. The work is going to cost at least $1,000.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2001 Toyota Celica

Failure Date: 07/17/2005

Driving home at approx. 70 mph the engine began to miss. . . Causing a loss in rpms and a loud knocking coming from the engine followed by a high pitch squealling (almost like the fan belt was going out). . . After pulling off the road and turning the car off to inspect the noises. . . No signs where showing that there was a problem. . . Check engine light did not come on. . . Assuming the problem had worked itself out. . . We continued to get back on the highway. . . It started again. . . The rpms dropped throwing the car out of gear several times until we could get off the road again. . . The car was taken to the dealer. . . They informed me that the tramission was blown causing the clutch to go out as well. . . Has this been a problem in this car? the warrenty is refusing to cover the transmission. . . Making a total cost of 3 grand (give or take a few $). . .
