Neither her driver nor passenger side airbag deployed. As a result her head struck the steering wheel and she suffered a fractured sternum, which I assume was caused by the seat belt. My son suffered no injuries as a result of the accident. I know that some crashes do not cause an airbag to deploy but that should not have been the case in this accident. Thankfully the seat belt did its job.
