1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/03/2020

My clutch pedal squeaks and feels spongy at times. I have vibrations coming from clutch pedal when accelerating and releasing clutch almost at bite point. There are times when I'm at a stop and put in first gear and go the clutch vibrates and a I get almost like a growling or chattering coming from transmission. My clutch tends to act up more in the city. It almost seems like if the concentric slave cylinder is going out.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2014 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/26/2016

Regarding a 2014 Toyota Corolla s with manual transmission: the vehicle has less than 24,000 miles and the clutch was worn off substantially. I have over 30 years of experience driving vehicles with manual transmissions (used and new) and I have never had this problem. At the very beginning of the lease, I noticed that the clutch pedal sat higher than I am used to. Moreover, the transmission kicked a bit if I released the clutch at the speed that I am used to. I informed this to the technician's at the Toyota dealership, but they said that these behaviors were by design and that the clutch could not be adjusted because it is a hydraulic system. Again, this event is very strange and based on my previous experience with numerous manual transmission vehicles, I am lead to conclude that the clutch system for this vehicle is poorly designed/manufactured/assembled.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2010 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/02/2010

Driving 2010 Toyota Corolla manual trans on interstate on 8/2/10 at 2:30 p. M. Had cruise control on going 70 mph. Engaged clutch, shifted to neutral and braked in preparation to stop for traffic jam ahead. Brake did not engage and vehicle continued at 70 mph without touching accelerator. Continued attempts to brake, downshift, turn off cruise control with no decrease in speed. Initially unable to downshift but then did get into lower gear but with no resulting decrease in speed, nor did the engine make any noise indicating that I had downshifted. I was able to get onto shoulder where I continued to go 70 mph. I then got off at an exit that had an incline. Part way up the hill felt something disengage and the car slowed- not just due to the incline I think. I was then able to put on emergency brake and the car stopped. After several minutes I tried the brakes again and they worked. I did not reengage the cruise control after this. Please note that this occurred after I had taken the car in for both Toyota recommended recalls regarding the floor mats and putting a modification in the gas pedal. When I went in for recalls I asked about placement of a computer brake override system and was first told that fix was not yet available, then told it was not relevant to my car, and, after the above event told again that Toyota did not yet have the technology available to do this fix on Corollas. The dealership have thus far been unpleasant and suggesting that I might not be telling the truth.

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/02/2009

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla xrs and living in northern canada. During extreme temperatures in the -30 and above while driving at 50 km/hr or higher clutch pedal will stiffen to the point that at sometimes it will hesitate to return to position and will pop back and clutch not engaging right away causing slippage at that point. I have also noticed that the brake pedal stiffens during this time, I know that the clutch and brake are on the same hydraulic system. Clutch pedal will begin to loosen when driving in traffic or stopped for extended periods idling, as I believe this is because there's not much cold air blowing through the front of vehicle at slow speeds as it's warming the slave cylinder. As it was doing this at one point I pulled over and checked the temperature of the slave cylinder and it was extremely cold to touch. I am concerned that this could lead to premature clutch failure or even worse an accident. I have reported this to my local dealer and there are going to investigate it further.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that the clutch and brake pedals are so close together that his feet become tangled, and he loses control of the vehicle. The failure has occurred on August 15, 30, and September 15, 2008 while driving 40 mph. He stated that the manufacturer needs to move the clutch pedal approximately 1 to 2 inches to the left away from the brake pedal in order to avoid depressing both pedals simultaneously. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The manufacturer will inspect the vehicle on September 25, 2008. The contact stated that manual transmission vehicles should have a shift pattern around the stick shift for correct shifting. He feels it is easy to miss fifth gear and shift into third gear by mistake. The failure mileage was 3,000 and current mileage was 7,000.

6 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/01/2006

: the contact stated the clutch is so hard to push that it causes driver fatigue. The clutch forces the driver's leg up every time it is applied. The contact noticed the problem shortly after purchase. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was determined the clutch operation was normal for the vehicle. The vehicle shifter must be moved out of gear while in a stopped position in order relieve the leg fatigue. The vehicle is not being driven currently because of the difficult clutch operation.

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2000 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/09/1999

The shift gear would not go into gear while driving. I was unable to shift gear only when the engine was on. The car suddenly stopped completely while it was in motion. I was able to start but I was unable to drive due to the inability to gear shifting regardless of how deep the clutch pedal was pressed. There was a policeman present at time of incident who helped me pushed the car off to the side to avoid further traffic block.
