1 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2020 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/10/2022

1. First problem I had with my 2020 Toyota Corolla hatchback safety recall 20ta07 (backup lampsmay become inoperative) - 10. 29. 2020 2. Second problem was with the software draining the battery way too rapidly, which made me unable to start my car. I had to have a tow truck come by and he was able to recharge the battery (he knew to do that with my car instead of towing it away, because he was seeing this type of issue with this type of car a lot). I took it to my local Toyota dealership and had them inspect it. They told me that they need to update the software of the vehicle and that I should not be having this problem again after. *el1934 firmware update (5. 21. 2021)* 3. Third problem I had was with the temperature gauge. The needle pointer in the dash did not go up and stay in the middle between c & h. It stayed closer to c (cold). It took longer than it should have to heat up the interior of the car when I turn the heat on in the morning. I took it to my local Toyota dealership and after they inspected this issue, they told me that they needed to replace the thermostat unit. *ma001 thermostat assembly* (3. 19. 22) 4. Fourth problem is with the transmission. I felt jerking motions from the car when accelerating and when braking-coming to a stop. **26312 car jerking upon acceleration /found trnsmission code /need new trans assy upon inspection and heatlh chfck found code p07457f and po7757f solenoid a b both stuck off /rest memory /no changed /found need new trans mission assy /remove and replace tranmission assy and perform reset and initialization/perform hydrulic and electrical test /no problem found /problem at the transmission itself car jecking upon acceleration** transmission, automatic - replace* (12. 10. 2022) I found out online that the transmission problem was known for 2018-2020 Corolla hatchbacks, but Toyota did not replace it immediately. There should be a general recall for the transmissions for these vehicles ASAP!.

2 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2015 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

Special service campaign jsd performed on Nov 03, 2019. The software component was updated, however the solenoid valve inspection and the valve body assembly replacement was determined as "not required". Since then the cvt seems to have started to fail. At this point in time the transmission makes noise while accelerating and decelerating. The dealership recommends the replacement of the transmission and sites issues with the belt in the cvt.

3 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2007 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

To whom it may concern, it is more like a question about my concern about a common manufacturers defect. I do not have serious issue at this time but I got some alarming sign on my vehicle that I am afraid it comes back. I have noticed tons of complaint online about Toyota Corolla 2007 giving check engine light with the code p0741, you can already find it online and many of the owner seems to be frustrated about this issue. In many cases car does not have any issue but the light comes and go, specially with the s model. It includes cars with 50,000 miles and above. The number of cases seems to be significant and Toyota dealers seem to offer transmission replacement which is approximately the price of the car. I have seen a recall for 2005 and 006 Corolla for computer change with similar error code but with this high number of complaint, I could not find any recall for Corolla 2007. The code is most often read as solenoid issue while Toyota dealers suggested to replace the whole transmission in all cases(based on reviews). I believe you may need to look into it as it is quiet frequent and may cause safety issue. This seems to be a computer or electrical issue with this model. (but transmission malfunction generally could cause serious issue on the road or highways) please let me know about your opinion on this matter. (I thought maybe you are also investigating a common manufacturer defect, I was not sure where I should report this matter) thanks for your time and consideration.

5 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/28/2016

The car automatic transmissions shift very hard. The mechanic replaced pressure solenoid valve. I was informed that electronic control module is bad. The symptoms are similar to a volunteer safety recall a0j for 2007-2008 Corolla models equipped with 1zz-fe electronic control module. The ecm for certain 2005 through 2008 Toyota Corolla and Corolla matrix models equipped with the 1zz-fe engine and two-wheel drive may have been improperly manufactured. There is a possibility that a crack may develop at certain solder points or on varistors on the circuit board. In most cases, if a crack occurs at certain points or on certain varistors, the engine warning lamp could be illuminated*, harsh shifting could result, or theengine may not start. In limited instances, if cracking occurs on particular solder points or varistors, the engine could stop while the vehicle is being driven which may increase the risk of a crash.

6 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/26/2015

The vehicle started showing the "check engine light" and the error code shown was p0741. The error code suggests issue with the transmission clutch converter solenoid. This issues seems to be common on the 2005 Corolla and could be a safety issue if the transmission dies immediately while driving on a freeway or high-speed road.

9 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/26/2010

Dear Toyota customer service, I request prompt reimbursement of expenses in the amount of $656. 47 incurred due to the malfunctioning of the engine control module in my 2006 Toyota Corolla last month. While a Toyota dealership ultimately replaced the ecm at no cost, I incurred rental car expenses for the time I was without my Corolla, and paid parts and labor in the amount of $521. 76 to my independent mechanic to initially replace a transmission solenoid which had gone bad due to the failing ecm. I will not even describe the amount of my time that Toyota wasted by failing to notify me, as the owner of a car model known by Toyota to frequently have premature ecm failure, of this issue so that I could resolve it at a Toyota dealership immediately. In early July I experienced difficult and jerking shifting of the automatic transmission in my Toyota. I brought it to my independent mechanic, who diagnosed the problem as a bad transmission solenoid (code p2716), and subsequently determined that the solenoid had gone bad due to the ecm failing. At that point, concerned about the state of my transmission, I called Toyota customer service and was told that the ecm is covered up to 8 years/80,000 miles, and that if the solenoid had gone bad as a result of the failing ecm, the solenoid replacement, too, would be covered under warranty. The Toyota dealership replaced the ecm at no charge. I believe that the out-of-pocket expenses I incurred, as well as the considerable inconvenience I endured, would have been avoided if Toyota had shared proactively with its customers the fact that failing ecms are unusually common in Corollas. If Toyota had reported this information to me, I would have recognized the symptoms demonstrated by my car, and would have brought it to a dealership in the first instance to be fixed. Instead, I spent time and money using a trusted independent mechanic, and learned of the larger ecm problem through him and through independent research.

10 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/19/2010

Faulty pressure control solenoid or electronic control module for the transmission on a 2006 Corolla Toyota starting with a 17337 miles. Dashboard indicate engine logo with "check" light.

11 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 02/21/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Corolla. When she attempted to shift gear in reverse the gears failed. The vehicle does not shift in reverse and it lunged forward. She also noticed that it would not shift into first, second, or third gear. She took the vehicle to a local garage who stated that the solenoid caused the failure to occur. The manufacturer filed report number 1002148-131 and stated that there were no recalls for the failure; therefore, they would not assist with the repair. She will take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed and repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 101,044.

12 Transmission Solenoid problem of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/20/2009

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) to add some additional fuel to the Toyota fire storm. . . . . I am the owner of a 2005 Toyota Corolla that recently had a "computer problem" diagnosed as a shift solenoid problem. This problem was a known issue to Toyota and it was such an issue, there was a TSB (technical service bulletin) written to help mechanics diagnose the problem. I stopped by the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (new) and they told me to call Toyota customer service - which I did. Although they admitted to and recognized the problem, they said they would only partially reimburse people who had less than 80,000 miles on the vehicles. I had over that amount. My mechanic said if I were to take it to a Toyota garage, they would just have fixed the problem without telling me about it, rather than have a recall. That is the way they circumvent the system and have high quality numbers. They fix things while they are in the shop for other routine maintenance. Since I do all of my own maintenance - except for major items - they didn't have the opportunity to fix my car. I would like this to be added to the expanding file on Toyota. Personally, I think I should have been reimbursed for the almost $2000 it cost to replace one of the four shift solenoid valves in the transmission and then have the faulty computer replaced. Especially considering the fact that this was a known and documented problem with both Corolla's and matrix's. They have done this a lot in the past and should be nailed for this and other episodes. I can tell you as I told the lady in customer service - this was the first and last Toyota vehicle I will ever purchase. I purchased this particular vehicle because I drove from peoria to indianapolis weekly for work as a consultant and it had decent gas mileage. I will purchase a gm or Ford product going forward.
