2010 Toyota Corolla, 4 months old under 5000 miles. The vehicle was brought to a car wash to evaluate a scratch found after going through the wash. The vehicle was parked outside the carwash running with the drivers door open for 1 to 2 minutes and when the door was closed to look at the scratch on the door the car shifted into gear and accelerated moving approx 10 feet and crashing into a bollerster. No one was in the car and this was witnessed by the owner and car wash manager.
My 2006 Toyota Corolla in early August developed a shifting problem that sounds like the problem I read about in stories today about NHTSA's investigation of Corollas. P2716 harsh shift fault code. I purchased car from dealer as a certified used perfectly reliable on 12/28/08 with 47000 miles on it. The other day out of no where, no warnings, no noticeable changes the check engine light came on, while cruising up the 14 north at 75 mph. Didn't think much of it, stopped at a friends house and used his obd2 reader and found out the issue, still haven't noticed much of an issue except for the sharp harsh shifting from 1st thru 3rd unless babying it. So I go into the dealer with 94786miles and see what's the issue and why so many problems. I was told yes its known a TSB has been published, yes its a safety hazard to anyone on or around the road due to the fact it could shut down at a moments notice. But since I am past the 80000 mi. Warranty there is nothing they can do except offer me a 10% discount and pay 693. 00 to have it replaced, and there is no guarantee it will be perfect again, many of our customers have had to return multiple times for it which the warranty covers. How does my certified used , extended warranty purchase, being a safety hazard not covered under a warranty control, a safety recall, or something?.

2005 Toyota Corolla stalled in a bad location, I could of got hit! some miles later car shifted ruff, some miles later engine light came on. I then took the car to the nearest place " autozone" to have test ran, test results was code p2716 I'm scared to drive this car any where!!!!.
My new 2010 Toyota Corolla, (less than 1000 miles) accelerated suddenly. I was driving in a parking lot and going about 15-20 mph. I applied the brakes after the first car was hit but was unable to avoid hitting the second car. My car and two other cars nearby were damaged, but no one was injured. .

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla with 30k miles on it. Two weeks ago my check engine light turned on and the automatic transmission began shifting roughly. After a while it would start running ok and the check engine light would go off. I took it to jiffy lube thinking that it was low on transmission fluid and it was not. daughter was accelerating up a hill about 1/4 mile from a major intersection in her 2000 Toyota Corolla [xxx] . Took her foot off gas, but gas pedal stuck and engine kept revving, accelerating. She hit brakes hard, car wouldn't stop. She applied e-brake, car didn't stop. Put car in neutral and turned car off. Coasted through the red light and to a stop in the middle of the road. 2005 Toyota corlolla le.
I own a 2005 Toyota Corolla. Just recently the check engine light came on. Soon after the transmission would jump every time the car shifted into a higher gear. In other words, as I increased in speed it would make a hard shift or something like it. Turns out that the ecm is bad and needs to be replaced. From doing a quick internet search it appears that this is a widespread problem and definitely poses a safety risk. The contact stated that when she driving in the city at 30-40 mph, the vehicle would downshift when she took her foot off the accelerator pedal; it would slow down as well as if the brake pedal was being depressed. Also, the contact noticed that when she attempted to brake, the abs would suddenly activate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership three times for the downshifting problem but the dealer stated that the problem was normal. Car was parked and turned off. I started the car and put it on r (reverse) and started to pull out of the parking stall. Brake was really hard and wouldn't go all the way down. Car was still moving really slow. I change the transmission to d and the car was still going back. Brake was still hard, I pushed down effectively bringing the car to a stop now. I turned the transmission to p (parking) and then turned off the engine. The brake became loose and I could push it all the way down. I restarted the car and everything was fine afterward.
I have a recalled 2010 Toyota Corolla that had the sudden acceleration problem. I was in the act of parking my vehicle in a parking lot and placed my right foot on the brake and proceeded to shift the gear into the park position. But before I could complete this action, my vehicle spontaneously accelerated and hurtled forward. I was lucky that my vehicle was stopped by crashing into a metal sign post. Had the post not been there, my vehicle would have gone into a very busy main road.

I am having what could be a serious problem with my almost new Corolla 2004 automatic transmission with only 8000 km. If I leave the car parked for say more than a week, I then start it, and try to go forward or in reverse the car takes (lags) like 5 or 6 seconds to sort of engage the gear. At first it sort of like starts to go but not fully (slips) and after that it goes solid. I hope you understand my explanation?? dealer has performed the hydraulic test, reset the memory, and changed the atf oil. It seems that perhaps one of the internal valves tends to leek or is not able to retain the pressure over time. The car has now 15000 km. And the problem is getting worse. It takes more time to fully engage into gear. I can see how a serious accident can happened if the person driving the car is not aware of this issue and will try to accelerate to get the car moving and suddenly loose control over a sudden unwanted acceleration. On feburary 12, 2010, my 2005 Toyota Corolla was parked and running, while I brought groceries into my home. When I went back out, I discovered that the vehicle had rolled backwards into a ditch causing damage to the under carriage of the vehicle and muffler. This is the first time that this incident occurred and nothing has been done to correct problem.

While applying the brakes and stopped, the car will move forward on its own. I apply more pressure and it stops again. I now leave excessive space between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me. This occurs very often.

2009 Toyota Corolla, "s" automatic transmission. The problem was initially identified by me when my car would not catch while on a slope in drive. The transmission would roll back. The dealership said this was normal due to a loss of pressure, however it would do it even if I barley stopped on a gradual incline for a few seconds. This has caused me to roll back unless I had one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas while to keep me steady to start. This happened at from the time I purchased the car. Recently, I my engine has been running really rough and winding at a high pitch while driving. It now intermittently goes between gears and downshifts automatically into gears that are not appropriate for the speeds traveling. This causes a drastic down speed, and example is I will be on the freeway traveling speeds between 50-65 and it will downshift and reduce my speed to 40 mph or less, then I will try to accelerate and it will redline out, as if I am in neutral and I will have no control to regain speed until it automatically pushes itself back into gear, and then increases my speed at a rapid pace, without me putting my foot on the gas. At this point, I am required to place my foot on the brake to control my speeds. The dealership has taken my car back twice and claimed to have fixed it twice based on the reads, but I have had the same problem. The reads on the computer will say that it is an electrical malfunction. . . However they can not identify where the malfunction is coming from. Parts have not been replaced and no repairs have been made to fix this at this time. Toyota is not assisting with the recall and I am left with lots of shop hours. Thinking about registering for the lemon law about my car, I drive apx. 1000 miles week and my car is not saving, consistent, and is a safety issue since have no control while my car malfunctions. I can only react to what is happening. It also makes a loud clunking sound, and a high winding sound when redlining.

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle was extremely slow in accelerating and would not pick up speed. The check engine light illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and advised there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. On a separate occasion, the fuel level indicator failed and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer advised there was water in the fuel tank and would need to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired accordingly and the failure did not recur. In addition, the vehicle would also exhibit a sporadic bump while driving. The dealer advised the transmission was misfiring. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 2,457 and the current mileage was 5,700.
While driving to work in the morning, the 'check engine' light for my 2007 Toyota Corolla came on, and the car began to 'jerk' or 'stutter', as though it was switching gears or losing power. My husband and I took the car into the dealer, and they found codes p0441, and most importantly p2716 -- correction was r&r engine control module, and the people working on it seemed to have knowledge of the issue.
For entire time owned - there is a gap of seconds between pressing gas pedal and actual acceleration. When I press gas pedal there is a hesitation leading me to press harder. Then of course the car has a sudden sprint in acceleration. This is not safe. I have had the car for 5. 5 months so I am getting better at waiting instead of pressing harder. But I feel this is definitely a defect. I inquired over phone with service manager where I purchased - explanation: I am not use to a 4 cylinder, which I believed because I have never driven a 4 cylinder. But, I am beginning not to believe this excuse.

My 2007 Toyota Corolla with approximately 68,000 miles is suddenly having harsh to violent transmission shifts after the check engine light came on. I had a shop identify or diagnose the check engine light code. They said it was code p2716. I conducted an internet investigation and discovered several people also experiencing identical issues. Also, the same investigation revealed Toyota was aware of the issue and released a technical service bulletin. To me, the problem is not an issue of wear and tear. Instead, it's clear there's a defect in a part of the car which can potentially lead to an accident.
Ecu (engine control unit) malfunction causes hard shift on transmission. Total replacement charge sums up to 762. 00 as per Toyota dealer. Toyota Corolla s 2005 replacement information in data base is 89661 02c11 vs. 89661 02c12 on physical engine control unit part. Compatibility in question. Customer service admitted to have a total of 4 car with same problem during the same week. Also said that they would replace it with an upgraded unit questioning the manufacture performance.
