1 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/09/2018

My 2009 Toyota Corolla has the same problem as the recall on 2009 camry. Extreme use of oil. When the time for my 5000-mile oil change my mechanic told me there were less than 2 qts left in the crankcase. Since that oil change, the car has used 1 qt in 2000 miles. I visited the poway, CA. Toyota dealership but since there was no recall on Corollas they would not even discuss repairs with no charges. How can it be fair that one vehicle the camry is covered with a recall and another model the owners must pay for the repairs of the same problem the camry had but with a recall didn't have to pay anything.

2 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2000 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 09/30/2006

We bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla ve in September. It has the base 1. 8l engine and automatic transmission, and about 63,000 miles. One thing the seller didn't tell us was the car was an oil burner. Now here's the kicker. On hot or cold, as in 10 f cold, starts, there is no smoke or odor. There are no drips, puddles, or splashes in the engine compartment or on the ground. I had a service garage look at it and they said the compression was equal across all four cylinders and well within manufacturerã‚??s tolerances. The local Toyota dealer claimed the rings were bad. The car is, however, going through about a quart of oil every 250 ã‚?? 300 miles. I switched to 10w ã‚?? 40 from 5w ã‚?? 30 and dumped some restore in the crankcase, but no change. Checking with several auto and Toyota forums indicates this is a widespread problem with Corollas.

3 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 2002 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/02/2005

A few weeks back my car's check engine light came one (this was when the mileage waas around 40,500). Since it was out of warranty so I took it to a aaa certified repair repair shop for investigation. I later came to know that the engine light was due to charcoal canister failure. Since the charcoal canister can only be obtained from the dealer so I later inquired about the repiar cost. The total repair enstimate was told to me around $480 which prompted me to search the web about similar repair issues. I came across several similar complaints related to charcoal canister for many Toyota vehicles. I have always taken the car to the local Toyota dealer for regular oil-changes,etc. I was alarmed that such an important part of the car would fail just a couple thousand miles after the warranty expiration. So I called the Toyota assistance at 800-331-4331 on 6/3/2005 (reference # 200506030018). I was told that the dealer would contact me some time within the next 3-4 days but that never happened. Upon calling the Toyota assistance center today again (6/16/05) I came to know that the dealer had never bothered calling me and had instead just left a notification in the electronic system that the regional center had refused to provide any information in this regard. My other car in the household is around 70,000 mi and it had never had any such problem. I would appreciate if the Toyota looks into the charcoal canister failure issues more seriously and provides relief in that regard. A part of such importance and cost should not fail within such low miles. I have contacted the wisconsin department of agricultural, trade and consumer protection in this regard as well.

5 Crankcase (pcv) problem of the 1998 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/31/2000

The engine consumes oil at an alarming rate since I purchased the car 15 years ago. Told a Toyota shop foreman me about this problem and he told me that Toyota doesn't want to admit any fault. He said they made the pistons too small and the rings too big. He is a close friend who knows I take care of my cars extremely well. He said to just keep nursing the car like I do. And for 15 years I have been nursing my car every week I check the oil. If it is a slight bit low I will add oil to the full line. This is the only way to make the car last, if I let it go and didn't check the oil, there would be nothing left in the crankcase, the engine would probably seize up because of lack of oil. I noticed this condition with the engine when I bought the car 15 years ago used. The car was a year and half old. I called Toyota about it back then in the year of 2000 and they denied any problem or recall like they still do today. Since then, I have confronted other Toyota Corolla owners with the same year as mine give a take a year or two and they have all stated that yes there oil was extremely low also. One stranger I walked up to in the parking lot said to me "yes, I add oil to it every week. " so to sum things up. I feel that Toyota should compensate owners like me who have faithfully added oil to the engine every week for the past 15 years that I have owned that car. Toyota should be sued for not being honest about their oil burning engines for the 1998 to 2002 Corolla model year. There is no oil leaking under the car at all and all of the gaskets on the engine are dry with no leaks. The interior of the tailpipe has alot of black soot indicating oil consumption within the engine.
