Rpm's increase when my foot is on the brake and the force of the rpm increase decompresses the brake pedal and my foot slips of the brake pedal. I have not experienced an accident due to this but it worries me that it may. This happens on a daily basis. I heard this may be normal but now reading that other people experienced this, I plan to get it checked. Aside from this, there is dash board rattling, seal issue with windows because they whistle and also paint flakes off from a small ding.

Unexepected surge of car at a traffic stop. I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla with 7500 miles, and on several occasions I have stopped at a light or pedestrian crosswalk with my foot securely on the brake pedal and in drive when the car would suddenly lunge forward. There is a potential for a major rear end accident or a pedestrian fatality. Anyone with a similar problem please call me (al) at 203-929-6856.

When the brakes were applied, the vehicle would idled at a high rpm . The dealership and manufacture has been contacted. Technician was unable to determine the cause. Please provide any additional information.
Unexpected and without warning while car is in drive and stopped in traffic or at red light, engine idle speed increases when compressor from heating/air conditioner unit engages (when heater/defroster or air conditioner are in use) resulting car to lunge forward. If hard and constant pressure is not applied at all times on brake pedal while stopped, car could lunge forward resulting in; rear-end collision with another car; auto/pedestrian mishap while stopped at a crosswalk or hitting another vehicle board side if at a four-way stop. This design defect needs immediate investigation by NHTSA and if found valid, require Toyota to recall and repair all 2004 Toyota Corolla les at no cost to car owner.
Engine light continually on the instrumental panel. Dealer replaced the environment module, and problem still recurring.

The engine was sludged with engine oil gel. The vehicle burned 2-3 quarts of oil every 400 miles, was about 4-5 days for the repair. Toyota offered an engine oil gel program for many of their other vehicles that had been changing the oil every 3-5000 miles and the engine gelled up.

My car '98 Corolla that has been regularly maintained as per manufacturers recommendations blew its engine while driving on the highway. I was in the fast lane and had to dangerously veer the vehicle to the shoulder. The car had done only 50,000 miles. The engine breakdown was caused by sludge and excessive engine wear and tear that developed in the car when it had done just 36,000 miles. This was brought to my attention by suburban Toyota of troy, mi. I have been regular with oil change and preventive maintenance and have receipts to prove that. I finally paid $4500 for full engine replacement and sent the receipts and maintenance records to Toyota. Toyota has refused to reimburse this amount.

The vehicle caught fire, after it was started.
2003 Toyota Corolla surged, hitting brand new washer in garage, surged again, running up planter curb hitting tree. Taken to Toyota dealer both times without success. Dealer said they could not duplicate scenario. Why so many people having same problem yet Toyota saying there is nothing they can do? also, have problem with vehicle dropping out of overdrive, rearview mirror problem with visor. So much for the saying; "you won't get a lemon at Toyota of orange". I'm happy to say I haven't had the sulfur smell.
The vehicle became hesitant and did hold in idle, the manufacturer was aware that a problem existed with the new model engines.
My 2003 Corolla has a rotten egg smell, especially when I am stopped, and it has been going on since I got the car. The dealer said to change gas and it would probably wear off, but it hasn't and I have been reading on the internet that other people are complaining about this, so I'm not the only one. Also, when I am stopped, sometimes the Corolla will surge forward. I read where someone else is having the same problem about this, too. I am ready to trade this car because I didn't buy a brand new car to smell this continually. It is very disturbing and may be unsafe smelling the emissions from this.
After driving on the interstate I came into town going 30 miles per hour when the car sounded like a "jet engine taking off" all the lights went on the car started jerking and died. The car was towed to the dealer and the service person at the dealership stated an "unmoveable object had been hit causing a hole in the oil pan thus causing the engine to blow up. This was clearly a hole created by something inside crashing through the oil pan.
Enginecylinders was receiving inadequate amount of oil due to a defective camshaft, causing loss of compression while vehicle was in motion. Engine needs to be replaced.

2006 Toyota Corolla. Consumer states failed engine control module
at 86,000 the transmission stopped shifting properly. When going uphill on a steep incline, the transmission would downshift as usual to climb the hill. However, after reaching the crest and starting downhill, the transmission would not shift again to the proper gear. The engine would race and finally a proper shift would occur. Then at 86,870 miles, the transmission would not shift from 1st to 2nd gear and it would suddenly shift with a strong jerk. The warning light illuminated on the dash which stated to seek service. The technician ran a diagnostic test and found that the engine control module was defective and needed to be replaced. Toyota informed the consumer they would not reimburse him because, the repair was not performed at a Toyota dealership.
