1999 Toyota Corolla purchased in vermont Jan. 1999, moved to nc in July, 2008, with about 101,000 miles. Driver was at doctor's office parking lot Aug '08-started the vehicle, and the brake pedal went down to the floorboards, pool of brake fluid on ground. Refilled reservoir, and as soon as pedal was pressed, brake fluid sprayed out. Towed to local garage, where mechanic showed that the rear brake line to rear brakes was severely rusted and just ruptured under pedal pressure. He spliced on a 1-2 foot section where the rust was worst. On 6/03/2010, the same happened on the opposite rear brake line in our driveway. Car was towed to Toyota of new bern, nc. By aaa, with a detailed note to replace that ruptured line. After a $207. 00 inflated bill, that line was also spliced, and the repair invoice noted that all the brake lines needed replacement from severe rust. Asked the dealership owner to reconsider the 2 hour charge of $90. 00 per hour, but he was obstinate stating he had a multi-million dollar new state-of-the-art facility he had to pay for, and would not compromise with the initial $90. Estimate given the previous day. This undercarriage rust runs throughout the vehicle. No garage will align the 4 wheels for fear of snapping something. I've replaced the leaking gas tank and filler neck two years ago for the same massive corrosion. These corrosion issues pose a very real threat to life should the brakes fail on these northern vehicles driven on salted winter roads. Toyota of new bern, nc owner apparently is trying to make up for his drop in sales due to recall issues by overcharging his repair customers. When the service dept. Rep phoned to confirm receipt of the vehicle towed, he informed me there was an initial $90. Diagnostic charge before beginning the work. I objected, as I had told him to repair that specific brake line, and he countered with, "but that includes a free 23 point check. " I said no way, & his mgr. Agreed with me. Yeah, right.

2010 Corolla is unstable at speed over approximately 55 mph. The car wanders dangerously to left and right, being particularly vulnerable to any cross wind or turbulence from other vehicles. It is not possible to use any vehicle controls (such as turning on the defroster) while driving at highway speeds without having the car veer suddenly off course. The car feels as if it is missing a suspension component in the front end- there is a dangerous lack of stability at highway speeds. I even purchased new tires after only 2000 miles in an attempt to alleviate the problem, but it is the car and not the tires causing the problem. This car is unsafe at highway speeds.

I bought a new 2010 Toyota Corolla s and realized that I can't control the steering at speeds over 50mph. This problem was noted, to my salesman, the same day I purchased the car. My whole family, including myself, made a living selling cars. I've driven in many different cars and know when something isn't right. The Corolla's steering is dangerous and unsafe to be on the road. The dealership service manager even noted that there is a steering issue, but Toyota doesn't have a fix. I talked to a representative at Toyota's corporate office, but he told me they can't help until their is a problem. When I drive on the express way the car's steering is unpredictable, unsafe, and defective. I'm forced to drive this car because it's my only means of transportation.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Whenever the contact traveled over rough terrain, he noticed that the front end of the vehicle would wobble and shake. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the failure could not be reproduced. There were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 92000.
Notice the steering wheel sometimes pulses only when my cell phone is (docked) near docked to the right of the steering wheel. Its strange I can sometimes tell if my black berry is going to ring or get an email. The steering wheel seems to shake or try to steer on its own. This is similar to my other 2009 Toyota Corolla that I resold to the dealer. I wonder if more shielding is needed to reduce any interference.

One major flaw: twitchy power steering it?s similar to others on the internet blogs ? after about 30 minutes it?s as if I am trying to balance my steering on a ball. The steering wants to move off center to the left or right. By steering into oncoming lane or traffic. I reminds me as a kid; turning my bike handle bars 180 degrees (backwards)and steering forward. You can do it but you must keep both hands and fight the steering.
While driving on expressway and roads the vehicle will make a sudden surprise pull to the left or right randomly. One thing to note when turning any corner the steering wheel won't recover straight as if it forgot I turned. The car is less than a week old. Notice the dangerous problem on my first trip on the interstate. I look it back for service the next day. For 2 days Toyota service checked alignment and drove it. They find the steering wheel in tolerance. Scotty said it's normal for this type of new electric steering. You must keep both hands on steering wheel or it will steer out of assign lane. After a 2nd trip in a week of owning this car decided to test drive a different 2009 Toyota Corolla and drove just fine. I only wished mine would have drove straight.

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 30 mph in windy weather conditions, the contact experienced difficulty steering the vehicle. The vehicle unexpectedly pulled to the left or right without assistance. This was a gradual change in direction. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician performed a front end wheel alignment on the passenger side. On three separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for identical failures. The failure mileage was 35 and current mileage was 1,100. Updated 02-23-09 updated 02/25/09. Jb.
New vehicle for body and engine noise and various other noises not standard for a new vehicle.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Corolla. While driving 40 mph, he heard a winding sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The dealer replaced the tires; however, the failure continued to occur. Approximately four weeks later while driving 65 mph, the contact heard a winding sound. The dealer stated that the wheels caused the inner walls of the tires to disintegrate. In addition, they stated that the failure would be continuous because the tires and wheels were aftermarket and they refused to repair as part of the warranty. The failure mileage was 250 and current mileage was 3,828.
Loud, cracking sound in brakes.

purchased 2003, Toyota, Corolla, VIN: [xxx] with daughter. Veh was purchased from Toyota of orange in CA. Two days later a hit and run driver forced veh to skid across five lanes on interstate 10 in ontario, CA, and landed atop center divider. The vehicle was sent to repair shop and "repaired" after approximately 5-8 months. However, the car was never properly repaired, and I complained to both Toyota , and to the insurance company, allstate, but Toyota adamantly stated the veh was without problems. The car was continually in the shop for the brakes. Eventually the carpet caused the accelerator to become stuck and the car went out of control. I was forced to reach down while the car moving and pull the carpet with both hands to release the accelerator. Stepping on the brakes did not help. Neither Toyota repair nor allstate would help resolve our complaints since 2003, we were simply told that the veh was fine. Additionally I believe the frame is bent, lack of interlocking brakes causing skids, brakes are soft and drop to floor, and poor steering column. This car is dangerous and is impossible to drive without involving near miss accident episodes. The car skids if going as little as 5-10 miles per hour. I offered to give the car away to anyone who was willing to investigate my complaints, all to no avail. I just recently learned that one of the problems I heard in the brand new car was a hole in the exhaust system. Toyota continually denied this for 5-6 years, then by accident a very young newly employed staff at Toyota of orange, informed us that our complaint about loud air sounding noise was a hole in the exhaust, which had been continually making the noise, and burning of eyes (migraines). The brakes were repaired every 2-4 months or less until I just reported less frequently. The car is now no longer under warranty. Currently it needs some brakes, rotors, drums, calipers, and shocks as always.

Car was purchased from used car "superstore"; purchaser paid for "128 point inspection" and car was declared "certified" by dealer. Dealer issued 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with purchase of this "certified" used vehicle, measured from first owner use of vehicle; warrantied until 2005; vehicle had 32000 miles when purchased. From time of delivery in March 2003, car had "shimmy" in front end at 68-74 miles per hour. On returning to dealer first time on 3/20/2003, dealer said it was wheel balance problem, but dealer said could not test above 65 mph because that was above local speed limit. Dealer also said that they spin balanced wheels at about 55 mph equivalent because spin balance machine did not spin any faster. Problem was not corrected at all; owner then went to another service shop on 4/12/2003 and paid for all wheel alignment and two front wheel spin balance; problem still not corrected. Owner returned to dealer on 5/06/2003 with same complaint. Dealer said could not do anything further. Owner subsequently tried rotating wheels front to back, problem not corrected. Owner believes that alignment and balance are now ruled out as problems; that, most probably, front suspension was and is defective, causing "shimmy", now readily detectable between 65-75 mph. Probably a safety issue at current highway speeds.

I purchased my brand new 2000 Toyota Corolla ce on may 20,2000. Within 4 to 5 days later I noticed when I was reaching speeds of 65-70mph on the highway my car would sway and wander down the lane of traffic. It has a push/pull effect to it. When this problem arises it is very hard to keep the vehicle on the road. I am constantly over compensating to try and keep it straight and in my lane. I have had this vehicle into my dealer that I purchased it many times. They have taken air out of the tires, aligned the front end, aligned the rearend and camber. I have contacted Toyota themselves and met with the dpm of Toyota who drove my vehicle and realized that there was a definite problem with my car. She then told me that they contacted the technical dept and he told them that there were cases of this same problem in Toyota canada. At that point she told me that they were not going to do anything with my vehicle other than to notify their engineer of the problem.
Vehicle out of alignment and bushings lubrication because they were causing a squeaking noise after lube the vehicle is still making the sqeaking noise.

When driving at any speed in the in the wind, vehicle is pulling to left and to the right, but more often vehicle is pulling to the right.
Whistling noise from front end of vehicle while driving. (qcaw).
The car does not take bumps well at all. It feels like the suspension is very soft, and we bottom out while going very reasonably slow, on two or three occasions now.
High speeds car hard to control, corners horribly, pitching motion over bumps, crunching noise on uneven pavement.
