I recently 6 weeks ago bought a used certified 2016 Toyota Corolla with 43,000 miles. I have been going back and forth with Toyota since the day after I bought it about the many mechanical issues that pose a major safety risk. The car shudders/vibrates when accelerating, knocks when backing up. And when making turns the car shifts hard side to side with a shudder and wobble in floor board of car. It feels as if you don’t have control of the vehicle when driving. It has lots of loose play in the front end and steering really the whole car. It also has a problem going up hill and jumping on fwy a major problem accelerating. They keep telling me car is working per design but this is a lie. I have taken it to 2 other mechanics who told me this car has major issues safety ones to take it back. Toyota fixed the control arms stating that might be what it is but the same problems remain. I am afraid to drive this vehicle and they refuse to figure out the problems and fix them. 2 days after buying it I told them take the car back it has too many mechanical issues they refused. I don’t know what to do I cannot continue driving this car like this and in the rain it could barely handle also. The car has a feeling of loss of control like the whole frame of car is loose. I need help and don’t know what else to do I’ve taken the car back to them about 15 times. They continue to lie and say nothing is wrong even though when I test drove it with the head mechanic. He admitted the car has major issues but told me he did not want to get involved and I would have to take it up with management. I traded in my 2011 SUV that was in good working order to buy this smaller car so my daughter could also learn to drive. They should have never sold this vehicle with this many mechanical safety issues please help.

I have been taking my Toyota to sun Toyota for routine maintenance and inspections. Upon today’s inspections they are claiming the battery looks like it leaked on the axial, some of the undercarriage components look broken and rusty. Possibly needing replacement. The overall car is less than 60k in mileage so that seems odd to me. I also brought the car in at 45k and they made no mention of these issues during that vehicle inspection. I asked about my brakes and braking issues. I do not slam on my brakes and the technician said I should stop braking too hard. There is noticeable wear now on them. I asked them to change them at the previous visit and they refused saying it did not need it. I am concerned for my safety and lack of care at this sun Toyota.

A knocking noise is coming from the front of car. Noise correlates with car motion. Worn parts in suspension were replaced by euro car doctor in costa mesa. One problem complies with Toyota technical service bulletin. Noise continues. The electronic invoice has photos of worn parts. Euro car doctor documents concern. I do not trust the local Toyota dealer service department to properly inspect the vehicle.
I own a 2016 Toyota Corolla with 35000 miles. My extended warranty expired in January 2024. In the the last few months my Toyota developed a “rattle” or noise, primarily on the right side at slow speeds and slow turns. I took the car to a well respected and nearby repair facility for an oil change and had them look at the noise. They found that the control arm bushings had stress cracks and the sway bar end links and mount bushings were leaking. I had the repairs done. The defective parts are documented with photos in the electronic version of the repair invoice. The noise came back in a day. The next step would be replacing the struts. The repair shop found no visible wear or damage to the struts. I already spent $2400 on repairs. The noise remains. The damage to the parts most likely started long before the warranty expired in January. I found a technical service bulletin describing the repair for this noise issue. The repair described specifies replacing the control arms. I did that in the above described repair. There are many upset consumers complaining in internet forums about the same problem in 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla’s. I contacted Toyota customer service by email. They told me there was nothing they could do about the problem since the warranty expired 5 years after purchasing the car. I told them I have an 8 year extended warranty. They insisted that there was no 8 year warranty. I offered to send them proof. I have the same problem as shown below. I replaced the control arms and stabilizer bar links. They appeared to be failing. There are many more pages on the internet with the same problem. I reported this to Toyota. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, though the steering itself did not move, the vehicle began to jerk and sway left to right, causing the contact to spin out and veer into the next lane. As a result, the vehicle collided with a semi truck on the passenger side of the vehicle. The collision with the semi truck sent the vehicle careening, clipping another passenger vehicle before coming to a complete stop on the shoulder of the roadway. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. An occupant of the other passenger vehicle bumped her head in an undisclosed location, and the contact was unaware if medical treatment was sought. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard pending review by the contact's insurance provider. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.

Purchased this vehicle new. The vehicle has 58,000 miles and the suspension went out, upper & lower control arms, ball joints, struts and stabilizer. This controls the driving ability of the vehicle and could have caused me to loose control of the car. Confirmed by an independent service center and repaired. There were no warning lamps or messages. The vehicle started making a loud noise when turning.

I was exiting a freeway offramp and as I was turning at a speed of approximately 35 mph, I had both hands on the steering wheel and full control, but the actual car wheels disengaged from the steering. The car went in a different direction than the steering wheel and hit a wall. I was able to reverse. But, as I kept driving, the steering wheel was not controlling the car wheels correctly. When I would turn the steering wheel, the car's wheels wouldn't obey.
Noise cracking when I make right my car has 57,000 miles I took the car to the dealer they were charging me 90 dollars end the day they told me that parts it’s not corvette the warranty.
I purchased my vehicle in may 2020. Since that time, there has been a noise that occurs when I apply the brakes. In March of 2021 I took my car to american tire shop where they charged me $1900 to supposedly fix an issue with the rear suspension 'arm,' but also stated it required more work and suggested it was a safety issue. The noise is still there and I fear potential safety issues but can not afford thousands of dollars in 'supposed' repairs.

I just bought my car less than three years ago, recently I started noticing a creaking squeaking sound and my mechanic could not figure out what it was, I did research and found other people had problems as well with 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla control arms and the bushings. Mine is a 2018 that should not be making a sound this new. With that information, my mechanic has confirmed this. It makes a squeaking creaking sound when I make turns or go over bumps. Yes, my car is available for inspection. I will be calling Toyota tomorrow, though I doubt they will do anything, this needs to be a recall, many other people have the same issue and it’s worrisome, this is what steers the car!.
Unknown engine runs really poor at idle I was ac is and is really loud transmission jerks and spark plugs replaced.

While driving approx. 35-40 mph driver impacted front left side with a stop sign post . Causing very little body damage but completely ripped the control arm out of the sub frame which caused an unreasonable amount of other significant damages . The axle broke off at the transmission . These 3 parts alone costing almost 2500$ plus labor to repair. It ripped part of my bumper cover which had to be replaced and dented the fender which is being repaired . Had the cars subframe held up in what should have been a minor incident none of the other parts would have been affected the way the were. I had the car inspected and aligned at the Toyota dealership and was directed by two employees to file this complaint. They too felt the sub frame shouldn't have ripped apart like it did. Had I been involved in a collision with another car my car would have crumbled . Trading it in as soon as its repairs are complete . Scares me to think what would've happened if my child were with me.
Rear suspension spring was not in the right spot. It was leaning on my frame. My vehicle was stationary.
On 11/19/20 the car accelerated and brakes stuck when turning right at about 5-10 miles to the parking space at jalapenos restaurant, 450 e 1st st tustin CA 92780. Car stopped because the bar on the ground prevented the car from moving forward! it scared the hell out of me, it left me shacking!.

2009 Corolla is drifting left and right on the highway. Some vibration. Recently had new tires and wheel alignment and still very unstable, feels like driving a boat and can move left or right at any time. It has electronic power steering not hydrologic. I'm the second owner of this vehicle and have the maintenance records. The alternator was replaced twice on car which is unusual. Any recall of the electrical rack and pinion for this vehicle? my mechanic did not know how to fix besides replacing the whole rack and pinion system.

Clunking noise, sometimes very noticeable when going over speed bump and turning steering to right or left. Took the car to Toyota dealership twice. Both times they said the noise is normal. But independent mechanic says there is problem with cv joint and bushing. I am wondering if this vehicle is safe to drive.
The subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine may run rough. This may result in a vehicle stall, and the vehicle may be unable to be restarted. If a vehicle stall occurs while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash.
Takata recall, when driving to crestline CA. The traction control lock up the front left wheel at 60 mph and made me hit the inside guardrail again the wheel locked up at 50 mph and again at 45 mph I had to drive at 20 mph this happen when driving on a road going up hill on left hand curves, the traction control light flicker each time the wheel locked up I was not able to disengage the traction control. When I reached a shell station a person toll me it happens when you have low tire pressure, I checked tire pressure on each tire 21, 23, 24, 26 was the reading on the tires, my tire low pressure light never came on. I filled the the tires and seem to fix the traction control and the wheel locking up. Than two weeks later I was parking at uci hospital parking structure pulling in a parking spot the brakes went totally out causing me to hit the parking structure, the brake pedal goes to the floor (all the way down). I was doing less than 5 mph and the air bags didn't go off also again no lights on the dash and any indication that there was anything wrong.

takata recall when driving usually on highways above 40 mph car shits to the right unable to completely keep control of steering wheel when there's any kind of wind outside. Complete alignment had been done passes with all green 4 new tires have been put on as well and no change vehicle as never been involved in an accident.
On Wednesday, August 30th 2017 at approximately 3:00pm I was traveling on interstate 459 north in the far-right lane and hit a large pothole about 150 yards before I-65 overpass. After swerving to maintain control I pulled over to the right shoulder and called Toyota care (roadservice). The event I experience caused a bent wheel rim and flat tire. I am requesting a reimbursement of my cost to replace my wheel rim and tire. The potholes were filled by the time I was able to take pictures on Sunday September 3re 2017.
I have been in two accidents where both times I was ran off the road into a ditch. In neither accident did any of the air bags deploy but I definitely hit hard enough in which they should had. One time my child was in the back seat. I hit a ditch filled with huge rocks the first accident was settled at over $1700 and the 2nd accident is still in the claims portion of the accident, where I was ran off the road. The air bags should had deployed but from the negative publicity it may had caused more damage, and thatbis very scary to think about seeing that my 5 year old was involved in one of the accidents. The accident was on a road with a speed limit of 35-40 mph with no stop signs or stop lights until the end of the estimated 2 mile road.
I was scanning my vehicle with an obd2 scanner and learned that my car, which I'm not the original owner, has had recalls and I don't know if they've been rectified. Attached are screenshots of the recall information. The first one has me more worried than the other. . . . Inadvertent deployment of airbags. Please read the details. The second (front struts) is something that also concerns me because of its lack of shock absortion. My VIN# 1nxba02e6vz610687 (also on the screenshots) if you have any information on the history of my vehicle and whether or not these issues have been resolved, please share it with me.

While parking in a carport, I will use the brake to slowly enter and park. As I was straightening out the car, the car excellerated and hit a pole, bouncing back and forth. It caused major damage. I am wondering if there was something wrong with the car or my wearing flip-flops may have caused this accident. (note: this was a loaner car from Toyota while I waited 5 months to get my 2009 Corolla xle airbag replacement. The replacement part showed up the very next day after my accident).
Transmission exploded form inside out after 80k miles.

I want my money back.
I was driving Toyota Corolla 2013 and I was 65 m/p on highway and the transmission failed (broken) I had only 39,000 miles. I had to minion something about that because I almost died, the car is unsafe and dangerous, I went to the dealership , they said you warrenty is expired and they could not fixe the car, less I renew my warranty on 36000 milles for $1000 or 90,000 miles for $3000, since I couldn't pay for that I took it to regular shop and I fixe it. After I called Toyota customer experience center to open a claim, they said they could not help me because it did not show on record that I took the car to the dealer ship, and they decided to not rembourse you for any money I spend to fixe it. The funny part, the dealer said they guarantee 36000 miles and Toyota said the guarantee is for 60,000 miles and my car was broken and I had only 39000 miles.
Takata recall. The contact owned a 2008 Toyota Corolla. While driving approximately 30 mph, the front end of the vehicle collapsed violently to the ground. The failure caused the front passenger and driver side curtain air bags to deploy; however, both front air bags did not deploy. The front axle fractured and caused the front passenger side tire to be positioned outwardly. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The VIN was included in and repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 16v127000 (air bags). The failure occurred before the vehicle was serviced under the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
