1 Seats problem of the 2019 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

While the vehicle was parked and powered off, a fire originated inside the driver seat area. There was no collision, no aftermarket electrical equipment installed, and no heated seat or accessory usage at the time of the incident. The vehicle was stationary when the fire began. The fire damage was concentrated within the driver seat assembly, consistent with a suspected electrical failure involving seat wiring, seat-mounted components, or associated harnesses. This is not consistent with owner misuse or external ignition sources. The insurer (allstate insurance company) declared the vehicle a total loss but declined further fire-origin or electrical defect investigation. The vehicle is at risk of being sold or dismantled through a salvage auction, which would destroy critical evidence related to a potential manufacturer defect. The vehicle is currently listed on copart (lot# 99091095 highlighted as ‘run and drive’) I have completed a power of attorney (hsmv 82053) per allstate requirement, along with a limited conditions notification for evidence preservation however allstate is refusing to accept the conditions stating their intent to sell it as salvage. This incident presents a serious safety concern involving spontaneous ignition within the passenger compartment. Similar failures pose a risk of injury, death, or property damage, particularly if ignition occurs while occupied. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident for potential electrical system or seat assembly defects and preserve this complaint as part of any pattern or trend analysis involving Toyota vehicles.

2 Seats problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

On December 12, 2025, I was in a head on car accident in my 2021 Toyota Corolla nightshade. I was slammed into the steering wheel which caused injury. My car has over $14,000 worth of damage to the front yet my airbags did not deploy. I have taken my car to Toyota several times over the past few years and every time I’ve asked about a remedy for this recall I’ve been told there is no remedy as early as June or July 2025 I had to bring my car in for a manufacturer defect with the engine that Toyota fixed for free. I asked them about the recall on the airbags. They again told me there was no remedy.

4 Seats problem of the 2015 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/31/2024

I placed my laptop bag, which weighs less than 15 lbs. , on the passenger seat. Despite this, the seatbelt warning system continues to alert me about the seatbelt not being worn. The passenger seat should be able to detect when a human passenger is present. Unfortunately, I have to buckle the seatbelt to turn off the warning light and chime, even though there is no human passenger or item weighing more than 15 lbs.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was informed the contact that the dealer would charge more for the additional damage. The manufacturer opened a case. The failure mileage was 94,576. 6 Seats problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

On December 20, 2023, a safety recall was officially generated for my 2021 Toyota Corolla. It has been over a year, and there is currently no remedy for this recall. I was originally notified that there would be an option to fix this by the third quarter of 2024. However, that was not the case. On December 26, 2024, I contacted the service center at sam leman Toyota in bloomington, illinois by phone, and they confirmed that there is still no remedy for repair.

7 Seats problem of the 2011 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 08/14/2023

While driving my car seat seat (driver side) starts to over heat. I do not have heated car seats. But within the past few weeks I have noticed that my car seat started to heat up. At first I thought it was because it has been sitting in the sun all day, but as the driving progressed in the fact this is happened three times I feel that there is a flaw in the interior.

8 Seats problem of the 2021 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/07/2022

I was rear ended. During the impact, which was enough to accelerate my vehicle from 9 mph to 36 mph, the steering wheel came completely off of the car and hit me in the head. The steering wheel was in the back seat immediately following the impact and my vehicle was traveling at 36 mph with no way to steer out control it and no airbags in front of me in case of a secondary collision. This happened on a busy interstate with dozens of drivers endangered by my out of control vehicle. Traffic had slowed for construction and it was a miracle I wasn't further injured or caused injury to anyone else. Toyota sent an inspector to look over the vehicle, and it may still be available on the wrecker lot.

11 Seats problem of the 2018 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/30/2021

2018 Toyota Corolla - front drivers seat is making clicking noises while driving. I believe seat is not properly secured and may be unsafe to drive. Car was under the manufactures warranty when taken into bill kidds Toyota for service. Service manager was able to duplicate clicking noise while test driving car. Bill kidds Toyota refuse to investigate any further. I went on-line and found similar complaints to my vehicles problem. One person stated the problem is with the seat track not being secured properly. I reached out to Toyota motors to file a formal complaint, and they referred me back to the dealership. Dealership is refusing service. I think this may not be an isolated issue with the 2018 Corolla. I would like Toyota to further investigate and force dealership to properly inspect my seat which was under warranty at time of original complaint. Thank you.

12 Seats problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 04/01/2021

The seatbelt in the rear passenger doesn't function properly, it either gets stuck in trying to fasten it or once it's on it doesn't fluctuate and gets stuck in a tight position where it has to be released in order not to overly constraint the passenger. The kids are the ones sitting in this seat and using seat belt so it's concerning for them not to be able to abide by state laws of wearing seat belts and keeping them safe because they weren't able to retract the seat belt.

On four separate occasions (while car was in motion and in park) my front passenger seat alarm was alerting me to buckle up but I am always the only one in the car/no one is riding in front passenger seat. On that same side (front/right) an air bag panel keeps popping out/will not stay in place and I am very afraid there is a recall on my car and no one is aware of it. Would like to figure out how serious this is. Including a picture as well. . . . Please and thanks!.

21 Seats problem of the 2010 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/28/2016

Takata recall, got recall info, took the car to Toyota, no solution to problem. They said they had no problems. It was an interim call. Meantime, do not allow anyone in front passenger seat. . So I feel like I am just standing in line, paying for something I cannot fully use. Where is the fix to the problem?? in the meantime, I am driving my unsafe car, as shrapnel can explode at anytime, and go anywhere. I need help here. I am a safe driver, what about the other guy. I live in florida, and fit right into the recall notice, however Toyota seems not to be able to anything about it. I am upset, I am paying on a car that I can only use a small portion of. And still not feel safe. I love my car, I want to keep it. But it seems like I bought a four bedroom house that maybe will only hold one.

22 Seats problem of the 2011 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

My car was recall for the NHTSA no. 16v-340, which means it has bad air bags, I have just found all these other recalls on my vehicle that I never knew, I took my car down to Toyota, they have no idea when they are going to have the airbag inflators so they said I could leave the car there and they would give me a car, my problem is what are they going to do with my vehicle, it might be months before they get the this problem fixed, now I find out that my car has all these other recalls and this is the first letter that I have ever received concerning this car. I need to know about every recall for this car so I can take it in and let them do the work for the prior recalls and just do what, just let my car sit there for months because they have no idea when they will have the passenger airbag inflator fixed, help! I need a safe car. I have to still pay for my car note and my insurance, my family and my pet as well as myself are at risk of serious injuries because of all of these things wrong with this vehicle. I thank god that we havent been injured by being in this car, I am taking it back ASAP. Who do I talk to about giving me a car to replace my car until they can fix everything wrong on this vehicle?.

23 Seats problem of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/19/2016

Reference: NHTSA id number: 10865853. Additional info - snapshot attached. Unable to upload audio file (available upon request) this is about "squeaking/creaking" noise that emanates from both front seat belts since purchase oct 2015. The event occurs when driver accelerates, decelerates, goes over speed bumps or uneven roads. The issue did not go away after driver seat was moved back and forth to ensure proper engagement in seat track. (note - this vehicle trim has manual seat adjustment). The creaking sounds is as if a bolted joint has come loose. Other drivers have reported that this issue was due to the seat belt bolt stripping loose. The issue is more pronounced in cold weather. The "squeaking" goes away when the seat belt is unbuckled. The "squeaking/creaking" resumes when the belt is braced tight against driver and vehicle accelerates or decelerates, or goes over uneven road or bumps. These db levels on these squeaks have increased where everyone seated in the car can now hear it. The incidents are still sporadic.

24 Seats problem of the 2016 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/19/2016

I am reporting an issue on sporadic "squeaking" noise that comes from both front seat belts since purchase oct 2015. The event occurs when driver accelerates or decelerates or goes over speed bumps or uneven roads. The issue does not go away despite moving the seats back and forth to ensure proper engagement. (seat adjustment is manual). The issue is more pronounced in cold weathers. The "squeak" event stops when the seat belt is unbuckled. The issue occurs when the belt is braced against driver when happens during acceleration or deceleration and going over uneven road or bumps. These squeak are now louder than after purchase and more annoying even though the squeaks come on sporadically.

25 Seats problem of the 2010 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/15/2016

Takata recall hello, my vehicle has been recalled for 9 months. That means nearly an entire year of not being able to safely transport passengers. I understand this is a mass scale issue that is challenging to solve, but it's also ridiculous for me to spend so much money on a car, only to lose basically 25% of the seat space I pay for. It's caused much difficulty transporting my family, because I'm definitely not allowing anyone to sit in a seat that might kill them. I expected a long wait for this to resolve, but taking nearly a year is bordering on unacceptable. When can I expect Toyota to get on the ball? thanks.

26 Seats problem of the 2011 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Not sure why I was not contacted about all of these recalls. I have owned this vehicle since Dec. 2012.

27 Seats problem of the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

I received a safety recall (interim notice) from Toyota in August 2015 and have not had the front passenger airbag inflator recall replaced yet. This is not a timely manner where I should not have a passenger in the passenger seat for safety reasons and it is taking a long time for this to be replaced. I would like to have an adult passenger sit in the front instead of in the back with two car seats. I made a call to Toyota on October 19, 2015 to see when this issue will be resolved and the person on the phone said they are still looking into it and do not have a time frame. I would like to know if there is something I can do so that I may take another passenger comfortably in my vehicle as soon as possible.

28 Seats problem of the 2015 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

The heating element on the heated seats has cause the seat to tear, as a result I am unable to use the heated seat. I have spoken to the dealership and Toyota but have refused to replace the seat. I believe this could be an issue with all Toyota Corolla with the s premium package.

29 Seats problem of the 2014 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 03/17/2015

Vehicle features "whiplash injury lessening" ("wil") seats. I argue these seats led to dramatically severe injuries. The literature published by Toyota in connection with the alleged safety of the seats implicitly states that benefits inure to those in lower-speed rear-end collisions. No study seems to indicate severity of higher-speed rear-end collisions. Specifically, whether or not wil seats actually benefit low-speed rear-end collision injuries while worsening high-speed rear-end collision injuries. I hypothesize that they worsen high-speed rear-end collision injuries, greatly. I was in a rear-end collision involving a vehicle hitting the Toyota Corolla with wil seats I was driving at or above 75 mph. I suffered 7+ slipped discs along spine, as well as a fractured vertebrae. The vehicle was in motion as it was struck from the rear, and the vehicle I was driving was moving at or about 75mph. The vehicle colliding with my vehicle was driving 75+ mph.

34 Seats problem of the 2012 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle (new) from the dealership, my daughter was getting bites all over her legs and I also had some bites, which is why I checked the box injury--her bites were so bad, her legs swelled up and they were getting infected. At the same time, we begin noticing spiders crawling around the front of the car. On the way to disney world, we almost had a very serious accident, killing spiders on the inside of the vehicle. Webs appear on and in the car. This has been going on for approximately 1 year. I never brought it back to the dealer because I just thought a lone spider somehow got in the car and had hundreds of babies. The more I killed them, the more that showed up. During this time, my daughter's legs were getting bit up by something and we never put "2 and 2" together until we saw the recall of the camrys because of spiders. I am now capturing the dead spiders as I kill them to keep as proof and taking photos. This is not a singular incident for the Corolla because my sister's neighbor told her when they purchased their brand new 2012 Corolla, they had the same problem. It is a nightmare. A brand new car that I paid approximately $17,000 for I don't want to even open the door. Please include the Corolla in the "spider recall". We need to do something immediately--my daughter and I are going to have an accident on the highway killing spiders!!!!! please help us!!!!.

35 Seats problem of the 2012 Toyota Corolla

Failure Date: 06/12/2013

Purchased Corolla le in 2012. In December started experiencing severe right side abdominal pain that let to various doctors, procedures, and diagnostic surgery. A pain management specialist determined on 6-12-13 that pain was due to Corolla's short seats and pedal positioning and that it causes chronic muscle strain in small-statured people.
