1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

I have not been notified of any recalls by Toyota listed by the NHTSA for this vehicle. I have been experiencing longer, wobbly stopping for a while now. Recently replaced brake pads and it got a little better but not much. Had I been notified of the recall issues I would have taken it to the dealer.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

When I put my foot on the brake pedal, the SUV starts to shake. I had my rotors resurfaced and it went away. Now it's back. I spoke with a certifiedtoyota mechanic. He told me that the trucks are known for having under sized rotor and brake pads and that is why that happens. I could buy a new rotors and it would still happen. Is what he told me. I would like to see a recall on all Toyota trucks and suvs. Thank you.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

When braking at freeway speeds (anything above 60) the car vibrates, most apparent in brake pedal and severe vibration in the steering wheel. First started happening when the car was still under warranty, but after several months with this problem, warranty had expired. Looked on the internet and came to determination that front brake rotors were prematurely warped - someone else with Fj Cruiser had the same issue. Vibration worsens with higher speed conditions. Could lead someone to lose control of car or hit something in emergency braking condition. Took my car in for recall on seat-belt and had the dealer look at the brakes too. Dealer indicated that sufficient brake pads existed at both front and back, but front rotors were warped. I had front brake job (replace pads and machine rotors) at a cost of $249. 77. In my opinion, this is a serious safety issue and should be corrected by Toyota motor company at their expense.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Failure Date: 02/07/2012

The brakes just failed and was suddenly unresponsive at low speed when I was driving over slightly bumpy road on I-10 los angeles, the road was not icy neither had any dirt or sand, it felt like that I had no brakes, and almost hit the car infront of me, luckily it came to a stop when I stepped the brakes so hard that it feels like useless. I took my car to my mechanics, they inspected it and told me that it was fine. The brake pads were very new. I replaced new brake fluids, but this incident happened again ! I went to Fj Cruiser forum, and lots of people has encounter this same situation when driving over pot holes to cause the failure in the abs computer. And Toyota can do nothing about it!!.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Failure Date: 02/04/2010

I bought my fj used in March with about 26k on it. Love this truck to death until the brake failure slide!!!. I was coming to a stop at a busy intersection, I live in a busy city "newark NJ" (I know I know, hold back the joke/sarcasm just for a bit ;-)). Anywho, I was only doing about 25 or less and about 5-10 miles on a flat surface my car started to slide, I thought maybe it was oil on the ground or something so didn't pay it much mind. It was a very slow slide but it still slid a few feet where I had to pump the pedal to stop. It did it again when I was coming to an off ramp on rt 22. This time the truck slid super far the brake pedal was pressing just as hard against my foot as I pressed down to stop it, luckily there were no cars in front of me. Scared the crap out of me!! this is when I found this forum and searched for similar problems. I found a few post printed them all out with suggested fixes and brought them to the dealer. I showed the service techs, and they like took a quick look and through them to the side. I said don't you want to keep these. They said no we don't need this stuff. They checked a bunch of stuff said brakes and pads were good, and said the problem was the brake fluid, so they changed it. Road around for about another month or so and with no problems. Until it happened again this time while I'm in stop and go traffic on my way to work. Again slow pace but I still had to dip around the car in front of me and on to the shoulder to avoid hitting the car in front of me really sucks!! also it has happened to me with different tire pressures. I won't let my mom ever drive or borrow my truck because of this. If there is no recall soon I will rather sell my truck then kill someone. :-(.
