2018 Toyota Highlander vehicle was sitting in parking lot untouched ( warm sunny day) . Vehicle was parked . Owner used the remote hatch opening button on the key remote. When the hatch/ lift gate started opening a loud cracking / busting sound was made. The spoiler was separating on the sides from the hatch as well. Upon inspection, the inside plastic hatch component holding the glass window was cracked in 2 places and the metal piece inside hatch was bent. There was damage to the top of the vehicle where the hatch / lift gate is suppose to separate however hatch was rubbing up against the top of the vehicle. The safety risk , the spoiler located on the back of vehicle attached to the hatch , became detached from its mounted position. This caused the spoiler to separate and obstruct the hatch lift gate. Spoiler located on back is causing the lift gate to not open and when owner opens the hatch the detached spoiler will cause damage to hatch /lift gate.

The front driver window was making a clicking noise as if it were coming off the track. Eventually, the arm motor stopped all together and I had to replace the arm. Now the front passenger window is making the same noise and I'm afraid to open it. The leather interior is cracking badly on all seats. I rarely have passengers and condition the leather. I've had to use an adhesive to prevent additional cracking.

The rear sunroof on our car shattered for no apparent reason on 8/24/19 while we were driving on the freeway (I-15 in northern utah, around 8pm). There was no evidence of an impact from a foreign body when we were able to pull off and investigate. Initially the glass was cracked but intact, but when we continued down the road, the pieces started falling into the cloth cover. We contacted our local Toyota dealer today (8/26/19) and the shop manager told my husband that this was the second incident he'd heard of with a 2018 Highlander this month.
Driver side window keeps popping off track, will not operate properly.

The windshield cracked by the defroster. From the center of the windshield. The break is on the inside going down to the defroster and then across the drivers side of the windshield. The vehicle was parked, the when it was started, the defroster was put on high fan. After a few minutes the crack appeared in the center going down towards the defroster and then across the lower portion of the windshield on the drivers side.

As I was driving on the freeway I heard a loud bang there were no vehicles around me at the time and nothing had hit my vehicle, I then heard falling glass pieces and wind and realized my sunroof had been shattered. Upon inspection it was evident that the sunroof had exploded as it was pushed outward and cracked from one side to the other in multiple areas.
Windshield replaced after a crack. Windshield company and Toyota dealer could not recalibrate front camera. Lane warning system and frontal collision avoidance systems not working. Driving with warning lights on dash. Windshield mounted camera safety systems is a bad idea. The need for windshield replacement may occur to anyone. It should not be this complicated to recalibrate the camera. So now I have an expensive vehicle that is supposed to be keep me safe- except that the safety systems are not working.
Windsheld cracked overnight when parked in the garage with no reason. I contacted the company and didn't get a solution from them. This must be something thing related to the company. Finally, I replaced it with my insurance.
Passenger window has had to be fixed multiple times. Comes off the track and will not close. Have had interior damage because of it.

My daughter had parked her car at the school parking lot on 5/27/2014 at 7:02 am , she went to school stayed the whole day at school , she went to dance practice after she got out at about 3:30 pm she headed to the parking lot to go home, she said as she was approaching the vehicle she hit the alarm to open the door but the alarm did not go off, so she contined to get closer to the car and she could smell something burning when she opened the door to the vehicle a cloud of smoke came out , she started coughing and could not believe what happened , she called me right away hysterically crying couldnt even talk and she was telling me that her car had blown up , I said what your car blow up how could that be ,I could not understand what she was telling me how can your car blow up? I was like what the heck !! I told to her hang on and if she was ok I was on my way to her, I called my husband and told him and he had the same reaction as me like what?? . When I arrived to the school I could not believe what I saw the whole dashboard of the vehicle had caught on fire cracked the front window glass, melted the sun visors and the whole middle dashboard was melted completely. I had to call the police and fire I had no clue if this was going to blow up , when the firemen came they watered it down and looked at it and said that there was no foul play it had looked like an electrical fire . What coud have caused this and imagine if my daughter would have been driving the car when the fire occured.
