It is important to share our speed gage is counting 2 -3 miles/hour higher than actual speed. We had a kind of sense for this. Now I purchased a very high efficacy gps. Which confirmed. When ever we are passing by speed detector on any given street. My speed meter is 2 -3 miles higher as compared shows on speeding detector on street . I do not want to pay to the dealer but I wanted to report for sure.

Itnhas taken me off highway ramps and sent me through neighborhoods only to put me baxk onto the highway. I contacted Toyota corporate who indicated theh were sorry but this is not covered indwr warranty as it is considered an assessory. The dealer said it may need map update whichnis 175 for the software load plus $ 75 service fee. My cheap $100 garmin provides free lifetime map updates and I have had to use it to ensure I reach my destination. Toyota has misrepresented the value of the useless gps.

6 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2014 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

The speedometer consistently indicated that I am traveling 2 to 3 mph more than my actual speed. The Highlander is factory original with no aftermarket parts installed. This issue was observed while traveling cross country and observing the plethora of radar speed indicators along I-80 and comparing to the indicator in the Highlander along with digital indication on both gps and iphone apps. I mentioned this the Toyota while performing the first service on the vehicle. I was told that there is nothing they can do about the supposed issue. Its not a safety issues as far as I know, but it is an irritation.

7 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2013 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

The complaint has to do with computer systems on this vehicle. Some of the complaint is convenience, but worrisome because other systems seem to be involved as well. The computer screen has always been slow/hesitent, with various "glitches". Vehicle has gps mapping screen which occassionally "disconnects" and resets to blank screen. The bluetooth and other systems have also "disconnected" and couldn't be reset until the vehicle was stopped and turned off. The headlights sometimes do not shut off, day/night doesn't work properly. Have had occassional problems with door locks not working as they should. Never know when and which systems will be affected. I have also filed a complaint about intermitent non-acceleration issues, which maybe related.

8 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2014 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 03/27/2014

Factory installed gps system when set to a destination will take you off the main road just prior to your destination and direct you in circles then tell you to get back on the main road that you just got off of. This creates an issue as one time it took us in a undesirable neighborhood; but more often than not will take you cruising in unknown neighborhood's before it tells you to get back on the main road you were just on. On other occasions it will tell you to take say a right turn then a few seconds later tell you to take a left turn causing you to erratically change lanes and make turns.

10 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2004 Toyota Highlander

Failure Date: 04/01/2008

The gps in my 2004 Toyota Highlander goes on and off without warning. When it does it disables the defroster, ac and heat. I don't care about the gps, but when it disables my defroster, it is a safety issue. It should have been a recall from the manufacturer. Toyota has informed me a new gps will cost $5,000. 00. I can put a used one in for $1,500. 00. This is an unfair price to have a necessary safety function, the defroster, to work. Defroster are required for state inspection. Do you have any suggestions for Toyota to address this issue?.
