Power Train Driveline Problems of Toyota Matrix

My 2005 Toyota Matrix 4wd started to making whining noise at 69000 miles. Took the car to nearby mechanic and found that the rear differential unit needs to be replaced. The differential fluid was fully-replaced at 50,000 miles and the car has been properly maintained accordingly by manufacture's guidance. The cost is more than $ 1500 to replace rear differential. . For any car equipped with awd system should never have this issue and I fee that it's very unsafe to drive.

I own a 2004 Toyota Matrix. It has less than 100,000 miles and have been well taken care of. On August 20, 2010, driving 30-35 miles per hour, the front axel broke! I did not run over a pot-hole, there was no accident---nothing to remotely cause the front axel to break. It is very upsetting having to pay for a repair that is a defect in the car and now being told that they can't even find the part to repair the car.

Purchased certified pre owned - (leased) 2006 Matrix 27940 miles 7/26/08 - on 11/12/08 32955 miles after oil change dealer wrote : "tires are wearing funny - aligned at n/c did not rotate rht rear cupping - 3/25/09 oil change 38632 - dealer wrote - rotate tires if needed - last time in had tire wear issue needs tires has 1 good tire on car on lf. Apparently this is a problem with Toyota - haven't contacted dealer yet but will after reading complaints. I don't know if the after market shim fix will void my extended warranty or not. . . . . .
