41 problems related to car accelerates on its own have been reported for the 2010 Toyota Prius. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Toyota Prius 2010. Problem reported to dealer 12-18-2010. Brakes become inoperative when passing over uneven surfaces, vehicle also at this time vehicle lurches forward. This occurs frequently. Contrary to your form requirements there is no one "approximate incident date". Shifter sometimes is difficult to put into neutral, rather it will instead go from drive to reverse. If there is also a sudden acceleration problem, this could be a big problem when trying to regain control.
2010 Prius. When braking over a pothole, the car surged forward suddenly (sudden acceleration despite braking).
Since purchasing my 2010 Prius in August, I have experienced multiple episodes of car feeling as if it were suddenly accelerating when going over bumps, potholes or other irregularities in the road. I believe when this happens I often already have my foot on the brake, but I find myself having to slam the brake on harder to prevent what is at least a strong sensation of the car "taking off". Feels just like when riding a horse and it is about to bolt! went to dealer in September or October, and they completely blew me off, said "nothing is wrong", no other reports of this happening (clearly a lie it now appears).
On 8-21-09, I took delivery on a 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid. Since taking delivery, I have experienced intermittent ,momentary ,unintended acceleration and intermittent,momentary loss of braking. On 1-10-10, I took it in for the 5000 mile maintenance check, but did not tell the dealer my problems ,because I thought the car was still in a "breaking in" period and would resolve itself. But when I heard today 2-4-10, that the NHTSA was opening an investigation of the 2010 Prius, I decided to add my complaint to the others. Updated 03/04/10.
Sudden unintended acceleration, momentarily loses braking when it goes over uneven roads, potholes . . Etc. Occurs several times a day.
