The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Prius. The contact stated the approximate mph was unknown due to the instrument panel not being operable most of the time. 2 Brake Light problem of the 2008 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Was parked in line to pick up child from school. Turned car on and put it on drive, moved slowly when parking brake light, abs warning light, traction control light all came on and then my brakes went limp. Had to push all the way to the floor and stopping was still hard to do. Almost hit the car in front of me when suddenly all lights went off and brakes jerked to a sudden stop. I'm terrified to drive my car at faster speed knowing my brakes basically went out. Pretty sure it's failing brake actuator and Toyota knows about this probably but didn't do a recall only extended warranties. . . I didn't own the car when those warranties we're going on in 2016. Headlights also will randomly turn off and I have to turn them off and back on constantly driving at night.

3 Brake Light problem of the 2015 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

2015 Ford edge with 22,000 miles. The rear center brake light assembly has malfunctioned and the lights are not working. The lights cannot be replaced - the whole unit has to be replaced, which costs almost $300. The dealer told me there is water in the unit. This car is garaged at work and at home. I have read that other people have had the same issue. I have an extended warranty but lights aren't included. Since this is a whole unit - not just a bulb - it should be included.

Vehicles low beam lights on driver and passenger side extremely dim for more than six months of driving and when stationary. High beam lights working properly on driver and passenger lights as well as parking and brake lights. All interior lights work properly. I press car's ignition button while pressing down on brake and the car's indicator symbols flash to the display but do not disappear. When it does this I cannot release the car from park mode leaving me unable to use reverse or drive. Dealer examined car to explain that bulbs working properly however the housing for the low beam lights need replacing.

7 Brake Light problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/10/2011

One week after being at the dealership for its routine oil/vehicle check-up (55,000-60,000), my red brake light, the yellow warning sign and the abs lights come up on my dashboard. Towed it back to dealership since the breaks didn't work. They found I needed to change my brake actuator and the solenoid that is stuck. According to what I've read, this should not happen period paragraph but if it does it would be on a much older vehicle with a lot more miles with a stop and go history. According to the customer service representative at the dealership this is a malfunction of the part. When I called Toyota they gave me the go around about being out of warranty. I need help. Also there is a reflective line of light that shines on the driver side of the window from my dashboard.

8 Brake Light problem of the 2009 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

While driving at night, the passenger headlamp assembly (every bulb, not just the main high-intensity bulb) went out. Wiggling the connector at the back of the headlamp assembly when the headlamp gets in this condition does not fix the problem. I can get the assembly back in working condition by turning off the lights and turning them back on again. This is dangerous! when the light came back on again, it was slightly flickering at first and now seems dimmer than the driver side light. I have also had connector-related issues on the rear brake lights, where they go out at random times. Turning the lights on and off does not work to get the brake light working again. I have to manually tighten the connector at the back of the brake light assembly to get the light working again.

9 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/26/2011

Intermittent headlight and brake light failure. If I turn car off and on again, lights work. Was pulled over by a police officer in January. I have headlight failure about once a week, and I likely to continue to get pulled over and cited. I have taken the car into the dealership and they are unable to find a problem.

10 Brake Light problem of the 2005 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 12/03/2010

The brake light went out on the driver side. Luckily I was pulled over by a police officer who was courteous to let me know the rear driver-side brake light was out. I believe this a hazard that Toyota has failed to correct because the led brake light bulbs are not repairable/replaceable, an since the led had failed and the driver-side taillight assembly is now useless and non-fuctional. I went to the Toyota dealer and they quoted my 800 dollars to replace the taillight including labor. I don't like how the led brake light is intended for over 100,000 hours of life but hadn't lasted more than four and a half years of use. And the worst part of the situation is that the led bulbs are not replaceable/repairable and thus a greater difficulty to repair and bring back to safe operating condition.

11 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/19/2010

My headlights, taillights, and brake lights intermittently go out while driving. One night, I was driving and I tried to use my high beams and all of my lights went out at the same time. After reading posts on the internet, it seems that this is a common problem for Toyota's. I hope that something can be donae about this.

12 Brake Light problem of the 2007 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/23/2010

Problems with the headlights in 2007 Prius. The first one on the passenger side went out on 07/07/09 when the car was two years old. This one was covered by warranty. The headlight on the driver side has now gone out intermittently. The same way as the previous headlight. We also had to replace one of our brake lights.

13 Brake Light problem of the 2006 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

The headlights on my 2006 Prius goes off while driving. Sometimes one light goes off and the other stays on. Sometimes the intensity of the lights vary. To correct the problem I have to turn my lights on and off. Also my brake light will go on and off. I have been pulled over numerous times by the police because of this problem.

14 Brake Light problem of the 2006 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

Beginning February 2008, both hid headlights on my 2006 Prius would randomly turn off -- sometimes both at the same time if I'm not careful watching them. Turning the hid headlights off and back on will turn the headlights back on, but they will randomly turn off again. I've asked Toyota to investigate and they told me that it would cost $800 to replace the hid bulbs, as it requires removal of the front bumper to replace. They told me that they could not guarantee it would fix the problem, and that some other parts might need replacing as well. I believe this is a manufacturing defect as there are now over 500 complaints of this nature. In addition, one of my rear positioning lights is out. I've received fix it tickets for one headlight out and also this rear positioning brake light. Please issue a recall! as this is very unsafe that headlights can randomly turn off!!.

15 Brake Light problem of the 2004 Toyota Prius

Failure Date: 08/10/2004

1) on a 95 degree day the car was parked in the sun. 2) brake light assembly deformed in the heat obscuring some of the 6 led reflectors. The black plastic used in the assembly does not hold up to the heat. 3) I complained to Toyota corporate in California to fix the source of the problem. Nothing done to date.
