My front and driver's side air bags didn't open when my car was hit on that side by another car driven by a lady who ran a stop sign; and struck my moving car; totaling my car. I suffered sertous chest, neck and back sprains that still l bother me. I was struck pretty hard, I suffered a terrible jolt to my chest area when my car came to a hard stop, and I still hit the steering wheel. This accident costs me my job and I am no longer able to stand or walk for long periods of time.

While driving on street I noticed in the middle of my steering wheel (where you press the horn) there were raised marks. Very prominent center of steering wheel left side. Slightly raised on the right. I could see the raised shape as a quarter of a bundt cake. I got really scared and drove to tustin Toyota. I ask the service adviser where my steering wheel air bag was, he pointed to the raised section on my steering wheel. I showed him the raised marks and that it appears that something perhaps the air bag was pushing outward. I told him that not only can you see the raised marks you can see them. He went and checked another Prius v on the showroom floor, that steering wheel was completely flat. Went on to say "good call" this is a safety issue with the airbag. The r/o reads: ck steering wheel left side air bag is raised. Replaced the pad assy. I am concerned that there may be a problem with the airbag itself because it was starting to push outward. How safe is it to drive my Prius v. Should I be concerned with the airbag what if the airbag decides to inflate while I am driving what if the airbag does not inflate if I have an accident please feel free to contact me .
1) sudden unexpected acceleration 2) steering shaft severed 3) drivers side air bag inoperative along with all steering wheel mounted controls.

Thursday, March 10, 2011 morning between 5:40 – 5:45 a. M. Est at work driving through parking lot towards parking garage, due to bad weather road lines were not visible and my car end up into a concrete block. I was in shock for a while, front bumper, radiator, both front lights, windshield and all fluid holding broke and engine caved in. I have neck soft tissue injurious in my neck. Pain lower neck and upper neck where scalp and neck meet. My 2005 Prius had driver and passenger side air bags and front side and rear side curtain airbags on side, but none of them deployed, but my car got total. I bought brand new fully loaded Prius, and I was thinking my car is very safe. Definitely if I was driving on the highway where speed limit is 55, I am sure I was dead in this car.
Automobile accident where the car rolled over on the drivers side and ended up on the roof. The car has front and side air bags, none of them deployed.

My 2007 Toyota Prius was involved in side impact collision. The car was hit at the drivers side front wheel. Damage was from the drivers door around to the front of the car. The car that hit me was going around 40 miles per hour. My car was totaled, and I spent 3 nights in the hospital with a partially collapsed lung, broken rib, and a concussion. Neither the side or front airbags deployed. I have post concussion syndrome because of the accident. I believe that my concussion would have been much less had the airbag deployed. I am a public school teacher, and I have not been able to return to work for month, and the doctors say it could be at least a few more weeks. In addition I am told it could be 3 months or longer before my symptoms disappear.

My daughters were involved in accident 27 Aug 10 were the air bags did not deploy and the seat belts never locked because of this my daughter hit her head twice on the steering wheel, and is in sever pain with lots of bruising and is wearing a neck brace. She needs to go in for further scans to make sure there is nothing wrong with her back. The damage done to the car was severe. She hit the other vehicle turned did a 180 degree spin and then hit the car again the cars locked on to each other and went over the center divider on the street facing oncoming traffic. The lady had run the red light and went thru three lanes.

I was in a 2007 Prius entering a cross street and was hit broad-side on the left drivers side from the middle of my car to the left front end. The damage was severe and I was taken to the hospital suffering from cuts and severe bruises to my ribs and backside. The side curtains did not deploy and I was told by Toyota headquarters that I was not hit hard enough. I am not totally recovered from this accident as yet and it will probably take a few more weeks. I was also told by Toyota there haven't been any problems with side-curtains and there were no other complaints about this kind of failure. I know that is not true and I would like Toyota to accept responsibility for this safety feature failure. Updated 04/07/10.
My daughter, driving her 2008 Toyota Prius, was hit by another vehicle, spun around and hit by a second vehicle. I wish to attach pictures of her vehicle which show the destruction but, the one thing that the photos do not show is the side-curtains being deployed. She was injured but thankfully her children were not in the vehicle. Would you like to see the photos? let me know.

Hello there. I am almost 8 months pregnant and I drive a Prius. I called the dealer and the Toyota company to get my driver side airbag disabled until I have my child. I believe that if the bag went off it would pose harm to my fetus, especially as I carry high in my torso. They said that they were unable to do so, as per regulation. I find this horrid, especially with the holiday season and the usual rise of impaired drivers. I can be as safe as I can but if someone hits me and the airbag deploys, it has a great potential of doing more [possibly unnecessary] damage to my baby than the crash alone. I was told that you could possibly provide some resolution for this in order for my dealer to disable the airbag for my remaining two months of pregnancy. Please get back to me.
I was involved in a off-set frontal collision in a 2005 Toyota Prius equipped with dual front air bags and side curtain air bags on July 1, 2008. None of the four air bag systems in this vehicle deployed upon impact. I was traveling approximately 35 mph and the other vehicle was going ~ 30-35 mph. The other driver involved was not injured, but I was taken by ambulance to the local er trauma center where I underwent over 11 hours in a neck collar and numerous CT scans, mris and several x-rays. Thankfully I was not seriously injured but still have neck, back, and abdominal pain from the crash. Prior to this accident, I had surgery on June 24, 2008 and was still recovering from the surgery. The auto accident has significantly affected the speed of my recovery.
Events: accident. Severe rear end and front end impact. Hit by large box truck, spun around, hit again by same truck. Failure: no air bag deployment of any sort. Correction: unknown. Automobile was a total loss.

2007 Prius was "t-boned" on the driver side. Other car (Honda) was going ~40 mph, and Prius was going ~25 mph. Air bags did not deploy in the Prius, but did in the Honda. Driver of Prius had to be cut out of car and suffered minor injuries. Medics on the scene were surprised that the air bags did not deploy in the Prius. Since the Prius was totaled, the parts have not been repaired or replaced.
