Purchased 4 travelstar un99 205/55r16 91v steel belted radial tires professionally installed. In less than 20 miles of driving, noticed bulge on front driver outer sidewall, driectly above the valve stem. No damage to rim, nothing was run over or hit. Seller of tires was autoplicity refuses to do anything, citing that a bulge on the sidewall usually occurs due to a possible road hazard, improper inflation, excessive load impact, or an installers error and is not covered under the warranty. The seller did not ask for any photos prior to making this decision. We havecontacted amazon. Com, whom was the distributor for autoblicity. Should this tire fail, there would be a loss of control due to its location of the front drivers side. This would put both the driver and other persons in the area at risk. This batch of tires needs to be recalled.

I was making a left turn into my subdivision after a full stop. My speed was no more than 5 mph. The Toyota dealer informed me that the sidewall had blown and was not repairable. They had no definitive cause as to why the tire blew. The tire was retained by the dealer. The tire size is p 195/65r15 and is a toyo nanoenergy a41 tire. It was original equipment on the Toyota Prius as built in japan. I have found that the tire has no manufacturer's warranty. I just returned from a vacation three days ago driving from hilton head island, SC. Had this happened on the interstate system, the results to me, my wife, or other drivers could have been very different. To the best of my knowledge, the tire has not been inspected by any party. I was not given any tire dot information on the new tire.
The contact owns a 2016 Toyota Prius equipped with yokohama bluearth s34 tires, size: p215/45r/17 (na). While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly became unstable and a thumping noise was present coming from the rear end. After stopping the vehicle and inspecting it, the contact discovered that the rear driver side tire was flat. After removing the tire, it was discovered that the sidewall blew out inside the tire. The cause of the failure was not determined. The tire and vehicle manufacturer were both notified along with the local tire dealer (les swaub and goodyear). The VIN and dot number were unknown. The tire and vehicle failure mileage was 15,900.
1) the event occurred on October 4, 2017. 2) 2017 Toyota Prius with approximately 19,980 miles. 3) the vehicle has been served on schedule at a Toyota dealership. 4) at the prior inspection no damage or abnormal wear was reported. 5) from the time of the 15,000 mile inspection no damage occurred to the tire. 6) at no time did the tire prior to the incident, did the tire inflation warning annunciator illuminate. 7) while traveling on a state highway (similar to a interstate) which is in very good and smooth condition, dry at the time, free of debris, straight at the location of the incident, at approximately the post speed limit of 70 mph. With virtually no warning the left front tire failed catastrophically with entire outboard portion of the tread separating from the sidewall structure. The car remained under control and I was able to decelerate while traveling straight ahead and remaining within the confines of my lane, to a speed where I was able to exit the traffic lane and came to stop on the right hand shoulder of the highway. 8) other than total failure of the tire, no additional damage to the vehicle was sustained and no injury to the occupant or other parties occurred. 9) I have photographs of the failed tire while still mounted to the wheel, including the tread of the tire and the outer side, which is the location of the failure.

At highway speed tire tread separated completely from sidewall on both sides of right rear tire. Vehicle: 2016 Toyota Prius two eco. Tires - manufacturer: toyo - model: nanoenergy a29 - dot code: n39n size:195/65-15 tire - date of manufacture: 1216 (December 2016).
I was traveling south on i95 about a mile form exit 89 in CT. I lost the tread of the rear drivers side tire. From the time I noticed the road feeling a little rough to realizing that I had what I thought was a blowout took maybe 10-15 seconds. (once I exited the car I was surprised the entire tire had separated at both sidewalls. ) I felt I was real lucky to have escaped having an accident or injury as when the tire came off I had little control of the car as it headed right toward the guardrail then back left crossing the into the high speed lane before finally coming to a stop.

Since I purchased a 2011 Toyota Prius in December 2011 I have had to replace 2 irreparable original equipment yokohama avis s33 tires due to side wall damage. I am concerned that the side walls are not strong enough to resist potential hazards. This is part of yokohama case #[xxx] which included other concerns. I have rarely had a sidewall problem and never a flat tire with new tires. The first occurred at about 300 miles of use the next at 8300 miles, the approximate incident date. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Catastrophic failure of sidewall while driving. Did not cause an accident due to low speed at time of failure. No obvious signs of road hazard penetration and/or contact. Product is identified on sidewall as yokohama awd 833 (did not see in database). In addition to the dot#, there was another 'serial #' or something on the tire - n5p2210.
I was driving to a place a short distance from my home when I heard a noise and the car veered to the right. I pulled over immediately and got out of the car. The tire on the right front was blown out at the sidewall and I saw two holes at the inside of the sidewall one above the other. The rim was also destroyed.

With only 12k miles on this car the side wall of the goodyear integrity tire bubbled way out. Tire had to be replaced and the dealer would not do it under warranty. They said I must have hit something but I did not.
Bulges have appeared in the sidewalls of two of the four goodyear potenza tires on our 2005 Toyota Prius. I can provide photos. The tires were maintained by having them rotated and pressure checked at 5,000-mile intervals by the Toyota dealer. The car has been driven only on paved streets and roads. Current mileage on the car is 13,000. I have elected to replace all four tires with michelins.

Model: Toyota Prius 2002
purchase from : putnam Toyota, certified unit, June 2004
failure type : tire burst on side wall of the tire, twice in 5 months. Failure root cause : drive over parking curb, at less than 2 mph. Failure logic : why the tire burst in such a manner, especially Toyota claim, this is a special design overload pressure tire. Part replace/service: both tires were replace at capitol Toyota dealership. Cost per incident: tire =$79. 00, labor = $60. 81, tire only available at Toyota dealership. Concern: what would happen if I drive 60 mph on freeway, and hit a bumper uneven path on the highway, would it burst as well !.

The tires were defective. After taking the vehicle to dealer for service it was discovered that chunks ere missing from the inside of the tires. Manufacturer offered reimbursement.
The side wall blew out at 75 mph on the first 100 + degree day. Bridgestones rep claimed that there was maybe an indication of nail damage; however the tire was too badly damaged to be sure. Next, it had been run flat, however that would have been quickly apparent in the engine noise with the cv trans. They failed to honor their warranty, admitting that doing so would raise a red flag at the NHTSA.

2002 Toyota Prius have had five tires replaced on this car and only have 28,000 miles on it. The tires wear uneven, and the sidewalls break down to cause flat. The tread comes off in chunks. Steel wires showing. Every tire has had a different thing happen to it. I have 3 tires replaced by the dealership in one day. The 1st tire went flat from the sidewall braking down and being weak. The one I had replaced on 8-28-03 was wearing unevenly and just had the car in for maint. These tires are unsafe to drive on and I would hope for a recall.
Problems with tire equipment on 2002 Toyota Prius. Consumer replaced the tires seven times to date. Problems with the tread and sidewall. Manufacturer was made aware of the defect.
Front driver's side tire had to be replaced 3 times because of cracks in the sidewall. Consumer felt that the tire dealership didn't want to claim liability, so they were blaming the cracks on road hazards.
