The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated while driving 70 mph and attempting to depress the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floor. The contact stated that he had to top off the brake fluid constantly. The contact stated that the abs warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 16v198000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Driving the vehicle at 65 miles on a freeway I drive daily. While having the cruise control active the vehicle suddenly and drastically reduced the speed to almost 0 when the vehicle got closed to another vehicle on the right side lane making a right turn. The vehicle turning was not on my lane in front of me it was already in a separate lane making the turn. The vehicle has done this 5 times in the year I have owned it.

Battery "died" the beginning of August - jump started and drove to the dealership service center. I was told that the battery was fine and that "short distance" driving can drain the battery - since I drive 45 miles a day to and from work, that is not a valid "excuse". Now, 3 weeks later, my car was parked on a flat surface for 36 hours with nothing left on - and the car is completely dead. Tested the battery myself before jumpstarting it - and it full. Absolutely no reason why my car should not start.

Was at drive through cash machine, stopped, put into park, did my transaction, put car into drive left to get to street via a side street. Noted at stops that the brakes were hard as when abs is not quite right. On a town street, two pedestrians stepped out into my lane of travel. I put on my brakes, hard. The engine rev'd and continuted faster and I kept my foot on the brake, the women got out of the lane. I really don't recall sequence, I was terrified (have had a car run away with me long ago). But I do know it was rev'ing hard, I was so terrified I did not note if any dash lights were on, or what the tach (?) was doing. Rav was in drive, I pushed lever to n and finally to park and the engine was shut down. I had pulled to the side of the street, so fired it up, and it was 'normal' brakes no longer hard. I cautiously pulled out into the lane and made it to the Toyota dealer. It tried one more time to do a rev when I put the brakes on, but not like that first time as I immediately turned it off and put into neutral/park. Toyota service person showed concern and drove the rav around for about 10 minutes and could not get it to repeat this. He thinks maybe I should have the shop bypass the automatic stop engine thing, permanently but there's not longer a way to do in newer ravs. So pushed the a button to turn it off and fear driving it. Service man was going to call me back if he comes up with anything. He may not recall the unintentional engine revs of a few years ago in Toyotas, which caused accidents and deaths. It was not the floor mats I only have the rubber ones, 'bolted down". First few weeks after purchase rav made bearing-like grinding noises when the auto stop was turned off so turned it back on. When a on or off, vehicle jerks coming to a stop and when moving forward after a stop. Car has <4000 miles. Bought new.
I purchased the vehicle (new) on 6/03/2020. On 6/16/2020, warning lights and buzzers went on as I was driving the vehicle. The warnings told me that there was a problem with my brakes, and that I should pull over as soon as possible. I drove to a nearby parking lot. The brakes continued to work. I turned the car off and restarted it, thinking it might be a computer glitch in what was a brand new car. When I restarted the car, I backed out of my parking spot to "test" the brakes. The car stopped, but the brakes seemed weaker. Ultimately, the vehicle was towed to the dealership. The dealer's service rep contacted me to tell me that the brake assist assembly had failed. I asked if this was something they had seen before and he said no. After some research, I determined that this has been a problem and the subject of a recall with certain 2019 and 2020 Toyota vehicles, including the 2019 Rav4 hybrid. In addition, this defect affects not only the brake system, but the vehicle stability control system. I suspect the problem with my car is a continuation of the problems with the 2019 model year. I believe Toyota should have either corrected this problem or checked the 2020 cars sufficiently to make sure they were safe to drive and that the brake assist assembly was not defective.
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that at start-up several warning lights illuminated. The warning lights illuminated included the abs, power steering, headlamps, back-up camera, parking support brake, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, drive start control system, parking brake assist, srs, air bags and pre- collision assist. The vehicle was towed to mac haik Toyota (2112 gulf fwy s, league city, TX 77573; (281) 338-9700). The contact stated that several attempts were made to tow the vehicle due to the parking brake failure. The dealer repaired or replaced the abs control, ecu, brake actuator, passenger's side rear wheel speed sensor and wheel bearing however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer. The dealer installed new terminals 17 and 18, and soldered the wiring harness however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was again returned to the same dealer where the charcoal canister was replaced. The dealer also ordered an engine computer system to perform a replacement repair to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 2,293.
Numerous times over the last couple of months my cars eps light will come on after putting my car into reverse the car does not connect and goes into neutral instead causing the car to roll forward creating hazards because it happens on hills and and flat areas. I then have to put my car into park, turn it off and restart the car to get the car to go into the correct gear. I have taken the car to Toyota but they won't do anything because my VIN is not under recall. Starting in 2019 I started noticing flakes of paint in crakes of doorways and creases of the car. Last month a big piece of paint started coming off the top of my car in front of my sunroof.
Upon pressing brakes while going thru a pot hole the electronic stability control deactivates and flashes like if the vehicle was drifting or without road grip.
I'm checking to see if there is a recall on the exhilaration of gas pedal. Every time I stat the truck it has a loud and high exhilarate in an stationary position. When I put it into drive it takes off at a fast rate.

Driving at a speed of 60mph I heard a strange noise arise from the rear passenger side of the vehicle and smelled a burning (electrical) smell. I cut off the heater and seat warmers as a precaution, slowing the car to a speed of 30-40mph. Approx. 2 minutes later, my dashboard lit up with about 4 consecutive warnings 1. Antilock brake system has malfunctioned. 2. Lane tracing assist has malfunctioned. 3. Rear cameras have malfunctioned. 4. Parking assist with automated braking (PA w/ab) has malfunctioned. Brakes continued to engage, but felt stiff as though they may stop working. Was able to safely take back-roads to my local dealer (vancouver mccords Toyota) where it is still undergoing investigation.
Brand new vehicle had only been driven 20 miles away from the dealership, at low speed, in a parking lot, alarms began going off indicating numerous system malfunctions including; low brake power, antilock brake system malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, electronically controlled brake system malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, ultrasonic detecting & ranging system malfunction.
2012 Rav4 - for no apparent reason my check engine light, trac off light and 4x4 light have been coming on for a few days, then off, then on, etc. We got a code of p0607, but the car is showing no symptoms associated with that code error. The vehicle is driving fine. I have checked the battery connection and the gas cap. Based on a large number of online complaints, I would ask that NHTSA seriously look into this issue and strongly consider a recall that will actually fix the problem for owners. There have been a number who have taken the vehicle in for repair, only to have the lights back on a few days later. Please hold Toyota accountable for this.

The past couple weeks my car had been laghing more an more when at complete stop. This past week it has been the worst. Whenever I try to accelerate from. A complete stop my car with lag and jerk like it is trying to shift into gear but cant. When I took it in to a transmission specialist they said it was my ecm and that this year specifically has had problems recorded fron others with the same issues with the emc. One incident I had specificaly was when inwas trying to go up a mountain to get to work my rpms were spiking as my rav was trying to shift gears to get up the mountain and my car staller out. I had no clue it died untill I was driving down the mountain and turning my steering wheel became a struggle. I had to put on my e break just to stop and try and turn it on to shift into neutral so I could get down the mountain. I have had serveral cases when I have almost been re ended because of the jerking has been so rough.

March 06 2019 when I was driving home from work all three lights, the check engine light, 4wd light, and the traction control light all came on. We are religious with our service with deanship. My 2001 rav 4 rear ended a car in front of me, and it was due to a major unintended acceleration of the engine. I am an experienced driver with no prior accidents and my foot was not on the wrong pedal when I was slowing down - applying my brake pedal when I was approaching a bumper to bumper congested intersection (around 5pm). All of a sudden as I applied more pressure on my brake pedal DE-accelerating from 20 mph down to 10 then to 5 mph to 2 mph, my 2001 rav 4 engine suddenly accelerated (the engine started to race and the rpm was going crazy making a loud engine sound) I was only 10-15 feet from the car in front, and the immediate acceleration of the engine (it sounded like it was rev ving around 80 mph in less then 2-3 seconds) suddenly shot my car forward (like a rocket)! the engine had full possession of my acceleration. I immediately applied more pressure to the brake pedal but the force of the intense unexplained acceleration wouldn't allow me to completely stop my car! my rav 4 rear ended the back of the car in front of me, and the engine was still racing, pushing the car in front of me,when it finally stopped it's own acceleration and I had time to turn off the motor. The engine had full acceleration possession of my rav 4! I signed and sent back a Toyota consent form they sent me to examine the edr and other recording devices to further investigate, explain what the hell went wrong with the ecu or whatever computer system is in the rav 4. I trust Toyota will pay for the damage that my rav 4 did to the other car as well as mine. This could have been worse and could have caused a death and/or massive injury to others and myself as well as major property damage. I want full reimbursement of my original full purchase price I had paid for this 2001 rav 4 I had bought back in 2001-2002 for this defective rav 4.

Ecm failed. Original owner, vehicle has 50,991 mi. On it . 16 years old. Toyota aware of problem-- extended warranty to 10 yrs. /150000. Mi. Called Toyota customer. Service, stated that I'm out of luck. Original part clearly defective. Consideration should be extended because of extremely low mileage. Cost will be $2000. 00 or more. Vehicle was moving when experienced uncontrolled shifting in transmission. Clearly a safety issue.

If you drift away from another vehicle or obstacle (pedestrian, bicycle, etc) that is also drifting into your lane, the lda system (lane departure assist, which is touted as a safety feature) will pull you back towards the obstacle you are trying to avoid. Clearly this is a safety hazard and should be removed as a "feature" from the vehicle. Toyota should also stop calling this a safety feature. Secondly, the radar assisted cruise control will start braking if it sees the vehicle in front is slowing down. However, if the system then thinks an accident is imminent, the crash warning shows up and the cruise controlled braking is then disabled causing the vehicle to stop the braking process, and thereby causing a safety hazard since the car will now coast into the obstacle. Again, this is a surprising and terrible implementation of this system that should be removed or fixed.

I own a 2007 rav 4, 110,000 miles and I backed out of my drive way began to drive and the transmission failed. I want to know if I can file a class action lawsuit against Toyota. . I just read in the past Toyota knew about earlier models that the ecm ruined the tran mission in rav 4s. .

Whether I'm driving or parked with the engine running, the car shuts down completely. I cant turn on the hazard lights or roll down the power windows. I have no lights whatsoever, so no one can see me at night. I had the car towed to the dealership after a bus almost rear-ended me. Previously they replaced the alternator. That did not fix the problem. They cannot fix my car.
The vehicle has a chronic issue with the O2 sensor which will prompt a engine light. The engine light will cause the vehicle to automatically shut off the 4wd and stability control and will happen at any triggering of the engine light. This is concerning especially in winter environments.
Takata recall while driving, the vehicle tends to suddenly give off a "jerking" sound. When this happens, the vehicle tend to jiggle or shake then goes back to normal. This has become frightening, especially when driving on the highway. This usually happens while the vehicle is in motion. This event has happened on the highway, local road, city streets, in fact, anywhere. It just happens without warning. It is happening more often, hence I am very concerned now. The latest occurrence was Sunday, June 10, 2018. Before that, it was infrequent, and I thought it was normal over the years, but now it is happening too often.

In may, this vehicle was involved in an accident where this vehicle rear ended another vehicle causing major damage to both vehicles. This accident occurred in a 4-lane highway; hwy 60 in phoenix. Prior to the accident, there were no error messages or indicated malfunctions. The car was maintained as recommended by the manufacturer. Immediately upon impact, two error messages were displayed on the dash:h airbag system malfunction and an awd malfunction 2wd mode enabled. I found this very disturbing as I can't believe the airbags didn't deploy upon impact. As a result, my daughter suffered from a concussion, neck pain, and her knee suffered injury by slamming into the dashboard. Our insurance company, liberty mutual, was contacted that evening to report the accident. The next day, I filed a claim with Toyota regarding the error messages and the lack of airbag deployment. A third party retrieved the black box from the vehicle and presented a report to Toyota. Toyota claims that the third party determined that the vehicle was operating properly and the airbags should not have deployed. My insurance doesn't believe this to be a true assessment, nor do I. I asked Toyota how to have this escaped to the next level for further review and was told that I had no options available to me. Meanwhile, the car has been repaired however, the airbag icon will not leave the dash and the car repair shop will not release an unsafe car to me. Someone is being reasonable. I'm concerned that the airbag system wasn't working prior to the accident causing the airbags to not deploy and is now indicating that the car is unsafe to drive. Meanwhile, I am stranded in phoenix, az because I still do not have a vehicle in which to move my daughter home to n. C. Photos and reports are attached for your review. The file from the black box was too large to upload.

I was driving on the highway when the car shut off completely and turned on and off repeatedly, and instantaneous for a few seconds (like it was blinking) super fast. Everything was going on and off. As I was pulling onto the shoulder from the middle lane on the highway, it shut off completely!!! I couldn't even put my hazards on. I was waiting in the car for a tow truck and my husband, I was with my daughter. The car started to smoke and flame and was on fire. We jumped out and yet was up in flames!!!!!!!.
It was a cold day in massachusetts. I warmed up the car in the morning for 10 minutes before starting to drive to work. I got onto the massachusetts pike and after a couple exits of cruising at 60 hit stop and go traffic. At one of the entrances and when I slowed down to a stop in the traffic my car flashed the battery critical charging error for a split second before saying everything needed to be restarted by putting the car into park. After that, the car completely shut down. I was not able to put on hazards until about 15 seconds later of trying to get the power back on did the car start up. Within that time a driver behind me decided to hit me in the rear. On restart the car didn't show the fault but upon looking up the battery critical charging failure it states to not drive the car and to immediately take it to a shop. The shop cannot find the code due to it being wiped making solving the issue even more difficult.

Rav4 -cel, 4wd, trac off all three lights came on. I had them read 4 times by 3 different mechanics. Each time I was told rear oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. I had the sensor replaced twice in less than 2 weeks to confirm it wasn't a faulty sensor. The all 3 lights came back on in less than 24 hours. Fyi: the other sensor was replaced as well.
The recall on the rear suspension epoxied the bar in place. Now it is not possible to do an alignment. Tires are wearing unevenly and vsc light is on all the time.
Passenger front wheel sensor harness was damaged by rodent. Vehicle has 26k miles and Toyota refused to repair the break, and would only replace the entire harness at a cost not covered of $6300. The material change of these parts attract rats. This damaged cause abs, lane departure, blind spot monitoring and cruise control systems to fail. The vehicle was parked in my driveway and I live in a gate community. I called the Toyota customer line and was given the same explanation of the lack of warranty coverage. Case #1710230814.
Vehicle in motion on street sudden acceleration. Was going slow step on brake put in park. Heard engine reup felt like wanting to go by itself. Happened once to my wife and once to me while driving on city street. Call Toyota dealer service dept. Asked about recall. Was told yes for recall. Too vehicle in was giving printout of recalls. Showing floor interference problem to accelerator. Was not offered a recheck on ongoing same accelerator problem.
When turning or accelerating, there are vibrations. Toyota dealer diagnosed that the steering shaft shoud be replaced and the intermediate linkage rack leaks. The sound system makes noise when stop or driving downhill or uphill.
I receive letter by mail, about takada air bags, and thanks because dealers, never mention that part, and is unfair, special went buy a used car,and pay more money,,well receive a few months later a recall for compsuption motor oil, need to be done, and tried 2 or 3 times, but the advisor and tech, are mero worry about fixed uncover warranty repairs, because transmission goes bad,tow 140 to dealer, and make all kind ot tricks to make me paid, finally they admit to fixed but charge me $618. 00 for alignment the 4 tires, replace rear seal, the intake fuel sys and use the word, per customer request, customer authorized, but never comment OH if you don't follow the tech recommends, warranty is going to avoid, decline the repair, and get service history and found they did all the work for the car recalls to,and I'm the only owner, but buy the car in 2015 with 80,000 miles and a lot of false, irregularities, so want to know if this car is for the lemon law case my safety and my family travel to mexico, ensenada, and I'm worry, car is unsafe to drive,my car don't want travel in the car,and is correct, but I'm scare to be involve in accident, car need to be check but by a dealer,a gov tech,oe a serious org. Ok tm.
When driving 25-30 mph and going around curves at low speed the car breaks hard and feels like it's going out of control. It is very scary because the vehicle is in motion doing 25-30 mph. This is happening more often at least three times this week. This has happened on freeway and on residential streets while going around curves and not going fast at all. .
The rear suspension arm separated causing me to pull off the road because the right rear tyre was bent out of place. When I took it to the mechanic he told me it is pad part in all Toyotas and I should take it to the dealer to have the part replaced ASAP.
