I was driving on the highway at 70 mph and the rear passenger tire blew out. Thank god I was able to stopped the car safely and no one was injured. It was a scary moment and it is still is. My safety and other was at risk it is a brand new car with only 4397 miles. I took the car to the dealership and they replaced the tire. They found no indications of a puncture or road hazard. Tire split at the shoulder and sidewall. Tire description dunlop grantrek 225/60 r 18.
Tire size 225/65r17 on July 10, 2025 the front tire on the passenger side blew out on i86 east in new york state just west of the exit to hornell NY as I was driving from warren mi to horseheads NY. I was able to safely steer off the highway to the shoulder. A man stopped to help, he put the donut on the car and put the blown out tire in the cargo space. I have the tire in my garage. I drove off the highway a few miles to the exit for hornell NY and called williams Toyota in elmira NY, they had a replacement tire in stock but couldn’t fit me into their service schedule until July 15, 2025. I had to extend my stay in horseheads by 2 nights so in addition to the cost of mounting and balancing the new tire I had to pay for 2 extra nights at the hotel where I was staying. I bought my Rav4 from golling Toyota in warren mi in February of 2024, it had 9843 miles on it, the tire was original equipment, and I have had the tires rotated as required by the maintenance schedule.

235/55r 18 I took my car for a tire rotation at a tire shop. I was told that the right front tire was not good so I asked to be replace with another new tire I had, which was exactly the same yokohama tire my car had on. When I drove off the shop the tire started making a weird loud noise so I drove back to the shop. They switch the tire to the rear and there I noticed that was a different tire, not the new tire I have provided them. I asked the guys where my tire was and why they had switched it with an old-use worn tire. They denied doing so and refused to give me back my tire. Besides putting a used-worn out tire, the tire also has a different speed rate than the rest of my tires. Since it is raining in houston and having different speed tires is itself dangerous, I found this improper and in disregard of putting my safety in danger. My tire was a yokohama brand; the shop switched it to a worn-used dimax brand with a different speed.

At approximately 11:30 am on Saturday, August 5, 2023 I was traveling northbound on I-17 just before exit number 278 for state route 179. I felt the vehicle shake violently and my wife saw a portion of a tire rolling along the side of the road into the desert. I was able to safely pull off to the shoulder, it was then that I noticed the driver side rear tire had completely separated from the rim. There were no warnings I had recently had my 5000 mile inspection/oil change performed at right Toyota. At the time of the incident there was approximately 5355 miles on the vehicle which was purchased new in January 2023. I was luckily able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop without incident and notified roadside assistance.

Feb. 26th, 2022 driving I-5 (tacoma)towards north with my wife on our way home at approximately 05:00pm (raining and windy) tire got puncture with some type of metal that cause our car swerved immediately slowdown and put my hazard light on at the same time did my best to take the closest exit as safety as possible till we made it to exit (s. 74th st. ) immediately evaluate my rear driver side tire (225/65r17 michelin primacy) and it was already flat and damage due to running flat towards our exit (safety location) called my insurance roadside assistant and the same time calling our friends if someone can give us a hand/help. Statefarm roadside assistance says 1hr to 1. 5hr… while waiting for raodside assistance and one of our friend I started looking for my “spare tire/tools” sadly we only have the “spare tire and a jack” it’s missing the the tire wrench so I called my salesman and ask what happen I bought a brand new car and it didn’t came with a “set of tools” I didn’t bother checking the trunk of our car since we bought it brand new I was confident bcoz I know my salesman since he’s been our salesman ever since. Contacted the Toyota dealership the following day but they just keep putting me on hold. Now I’ve been missing work since we don’t have a car. Reason why I called dealership is to ask if they have a warranty on my tire and that help us cut a lil of trouble/expenses if our tire is still under warranty. Tire has 12,000 miles that time. Feb 27th (Sunday) woke up early to get my tire fix but unfortunately costco tire service told me that they can do or repair my tire anymore. Tried contacting michelin but sadly still unlucky. Feb 28th I called out work to get my tire fix, while getting my tire fix I tried contacting Toyota rodland again to ask about my tire warranty but no one answers. Texted my salesman but he answered my text late evening told me he couldn’t anything about the tire, all he can do is to give me a set of tire wrench.
I bought this car in 2018, I drive 4 miles per day more or less , I have only 25,486 miles and today during a regular inspection I found that my tires tread are on yellow 6/32", just the front (where I have front wheel drive). Not sure how driving only in town can quickly wear a tire, by the time I pay off this car I will be with an expensive bill for change the tires. I had an used Subaru for 5 years and I never had to change the tires during 5 years, and I drove way more than Toyota, had 89,000 when the gaskets blew off. Not sure why car/tires companies make crap products to make us pay often.

My tires are a 225/65r17. Repeatedly, in heavy rain or very wet snow, the tires on mounted on the driver's side hydroplane and lose traction. I am concerned that this problem is due to the design of the tread. This is a directional tire that is only designed for the right side of the vehicle. Tires mounted on the left side of the vehicle channel water/wet snow toward the center of the tire, causing them to hydroplane under these conditions. All other road conditions: ice, light rain, snow, dry roads, the tires are noisy but do not lose traction.

Michelin latitude tour hp I-225/65r17 I am writing to you in order to let you know that I bought this used Toyota Rav4 2018 with 28,000 miles. I was told that the tires were new. One of the tires was not new and had already been fixed before, certainly not in a safe way. I just want you to know and report it to Toyota, I would have appreciated them if they had told me the truth since in that car I ride my daughters. Happy afternoon.
Driving on highway @70mph. Tire light came on dashboard. Less than 2 minutes later, driver-side rear tire failed. Slightly lost control of vehicle and swerved from the fast lane to the right shoulder off of highway. We could smell smoke and upon getting out of the car saw that the tire wall had separated from the tire rim and observed tire rim marks in asphalt. We found a nearby tire store and had the tire replaced with a new different name of tire. Tires were purchased less than 6 months prior. Tire: cooper hercules terra trac cross-v.

I had just gotten on a 6 lane expressway with a 45 mph speed limit. Hands at ten and two - just watching the road going about 40 mph in the far left lane so people could turn on the road. I had been having a clunking sound when I would pull out of my driveway for awhile but didn't want to go back to the dealer because I had just gotten a 10,000 mile oil change and after removing a tire with a nail in it found they had to order the tire, which took 3 weeks to get (apparently run flat tires are still in japan,,) so, I back to my near death experience- I was driving slower than the speed limit down the road when I lost all steering in my vehicle and I was headed into oncoming traffic. I hit the tall cement median and I pulled as hard as I could back to the right. After I hit I had a little control again. With both drivers side tires striped flat I had enough steering to put my hazards on and get back on the correct side of the road and pull the thing into a side parking lot to be towed. I feel like the thing is trying the kill me! warranty has to cover this but I think I'm gonna have to trade it in. Too scared to drive the damn thing. Atlleast I have two witnesses that can verify my event incase Toyota tries to screw me over. Rav4s r dangerous vehicles and something has to be recalled or people r going to die.

The tire was replaced due to a puncture. The contact replaced all four tires. I write this letter seeking for help. Since the year 2011 I am having serious problems with the right wheel of my car where the tire sticks constantly. The panel shows the light on for all time. In two years already bought two tires, my car is the year 2009, I consider a new car. The visits began to be frequent in the company Toyota, with report of buying another tire. I wonder if this problem becomes normal. Because children are in my car daily.

Consumer writes in regards to problem with vehicle tires the consumer stated he purchased four bridgestone tires for 648. 66 on October 26, 2010. On March 29, 2012 the tires were rotated and balanced. On August 30, 2012, the consumer went to another walmart to have the tires rotated and balanced. However, the service manager informed him, the tires were too bald on the inside to be rotated. The consumer stated no one mentioned to him back in may that two of the four tires were wearing abnormally.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated the vehicle was equipped with yokohama g91 tires, tire size 235/65/17(na). The dot number was unavailable. The contact noticed that the tire tread had prematurely worn on the four tires and there were several cracks. The four tires were replaced by an independent tire center. This is to notify you of a potential problem with yokohama geolandar g91 tires. On Wednesday, August 3, 2011, I had a blowout in one of their tires located in the right rear of my SUV. The tires are original equipment in a 2009 Rav4, with 32,900 miles, and are inflated to a pressure of 32. 5 psi. The tire thread is evenly worn to a depth of 5/32â€, measured virtually everywhere along the tire, indicating even wear. The photograph below shows the tire wall with the dimensions, 225/65 r17 101h. The blowout occurred at 4 am, on a smooth road (sanibel-captiva road, between the 1 and 2 mile markers) while I was going between 35 and 40 mph. The ambient temperature was 82â°f according to the car thermometer. I do not think I hit anything, or that the tire was punctured, as you can see when I fold the piece over the space, as shown in the picture below. Because of the speed and road conditions there was no damage to the vehicle, but the rim bent and cracked. I have four pictures and a detailed description in my files, and can share if you need them. I will replace the yokohama tires as soon as a replacement wheel arrives.
Yokohama geolandar tires g91 size 235/55r1899h peeling & falling apart I purchased a Toyota rav 4 2008 at 27900 miles while having my oil changed ( note not at the Toyota dealership) they informed me my front tires are falling apart. I made an appt. And took it in to Toyota waited an hour and was told take it home with the bad tires no one their could help me or determine if this was a manufacturer defect. This does not appear to be a problem new to Toyota Rav4's.

2006 Toyota Rav4. S10 appropriate handling- letter from regarding Toyota problems the consumer stated her make, model and year vehicle has a widely known defect in the steering column and the ecm computer is also defective and needs to be replaced. There is also an associated rattling sound. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer on two occasions regarding the problems. The consumer was given an estimate of close to two thousand dollars for the repairs. In addition, the mechanic stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive because the steering could fail at any time. Also, the tires were leaking air.
Both front tires were worn in the middle after only 15,000 miles! when I went to have them rotated, they couldn't rotate them because there wasn't enough tread left. So, I went to replace the yokohama geolandar tires, but soon found out that there was no warranty, no pro-rated replacement. . . Nothing!!! I had maintained proper inflation in both tires, but I noticed other 2008 Toyota Rav4 cars in parking lots with the same premature tread wear on front tires. How can Toyota sell a car with tires that include no warranty?? so I had to pay for two new tires on a car that was less than 2 years old! I will never buy a Toyota again!.
I bought a Toyota rav-4 sport in January 2009. It is a v-6 with the run flat tires. In July, I purchased a new, very expensive computerized sewing machine--one that I had hoped to be able to buy for a long, long time. It was just over $1400. 00. I placed it in the back of my rav and drove home. I swung open the tailgate, not thinking I had to peak inside first. The sewing machine fell right out of the car unto the cement garage floor. I was devastated. Then I thought how lucky I was that my foot or my small dog was not injured. A toddler or an infant in an infant seat would have been seriously injured. I remain concerned about the computer in my sewing machine. My husband, knowing how upset I was, and seeing that there was a serious problem, cut a 2x4 and wedged it in along the edge, thus preventing my groceries and everything else from falling right out of the car as I opened the door. The other concern I have about this car is that there are no run-flat snow tires available and we live in an area that is hilly, with a lot of snow. The so-called, "all-weather," do not have enough tread for our terrain.
I bought 4 new goodyear tracker 2 tires size p22570r16 from walmart that are warrantied for 50,000 miles. After about 10,000 I noticed some dry rot and cracking in between the treads. I took my vehicle back to walmart and showed them. The tire manager said he's seen a lot of this with these tires but said they had to contact goodyear before anything could be done. The next day the store manager called me back and said they spoke with goodyear and there is nothing that can be done. In my opinion this is a manufacturer defect and poses a safety hazard. I would like this to be investigated and have something done and the tires replaced before it does cause an accident and/or fatalities.

Purchased spector advanta SUV tires on 06/05/08. 235/65/17. Complained to dealer, ashland tire and auto care, ashland, ky. Dealer re-balanced tires without positive results. In the last several weeks, at interstate speeds tires vibrated enough to cause the check engine light to illuminate with traction control and vsc as well. Dealer said buy new tires. Tires currently have 25,000 miles. I replaced the tires today and the problem seems resolved. I see this as a safety issue as the engine tries to decelerate with this combination of dashboard lights. I am storing the tires pending results from this website.
On freeway, other motorist notified me my car was "on fire!" I saw excessive smoke in rearview mirror. I took the next exit which was dixon, CA off interstate 80 west in California. The side of the freeway there is grassy, did not think it was safe to stop. . . I stopped the car and smoke was everywhere, coming up through the hood & under the car. This was tues, 2/3/09. I has the car serviced the fri before, 1/30/09 at Toyota vallejo in vallejo, CA. I called the dealership after calling aaa for a tow. The service advisor, ryan said "it couldn't have been from anything they had done. But there is an 'oil hose' that had been coming off alot of the Rav4's. " I was already upset & that made me livid!! if it were a known problem the dealership should have checked during the scheduled maint. My car was towed to lithia Toyota of vacaville #47 at 500 orange drive, vacaville, CA. Work order 394212. As of yesterday, 2/12/09, the assistant service manager, megan, told me there was no TSB she was aware of, yet the part that came off (vvti oil pipe) was not found at any other dealership or supplier in the united states, and was on order from Toyota in japan. I am furious that it appears Toyota was well aware of this problem and has failed to initiate any steps to prevent risk to its consumers. I am asking for a full investigation which hopefully will lead to a recall of the 2006 Rav4's and any other year this affects. Megan, the assistant service manager at lithia Toyota confirmed with my insurance adjuster, jose lara (geico 707-688-3318) the cost is covered under the powertrain warranty. . . . What about the cost of my life, and the lives of the other motorist surrounding me??? the risk of fire is never to be taken lightly. Please investigate this matter to avoid any cost of life.
Driving on I -10 in buckeye az @ speed of 65-70 when saw sparks coming from front driver side of my Rav4 then a load thumping sound and then the car weaving from side to side and I thought it was going to roll over. I was able to get the rav to the side of the freeway and when exiting the car saw that the tread had separated from the tire but the tire was fully inflated this caused damaged to the wheel well , bumper and fender resulting in an insurance claim and alot of jittery nerves as there were 2 small grandchildren and a pregnant daughter in the car. Tire is a uniroyal p215/70r 99s bw tiger paw touring sr. Bought at 61,194 and I now have 83,000 so I have put 22,000 miles on these tires in 3 years.
