Service Brakes Problems of Toyota Scion Tc

I got on the freeway driving to pick up my mom in the Sunday morning around 6:50 am she works in lax driving on the 110 south freeway in los angeles,CA. This happen between manchester and century . I was in the third lane on the freeway I was going 65 miles per hour motion and I switch lane to the right and my steering wheel lock on me after switching lane my break pedal wasn't working and the steering wasn't responding to the left , the subject vehicle was merging really fast passing 2-1 lanes until I hit the wall and my car flip up-side down rolling for 13 seconds up side down on side the wall. My air bag when off when the car was up side down. I look at the radio and saw white smoke I turn off the car,un buckle my seat belt up-side down, craw out side the passenger window. I got up and took a picture and called the Toyota corporation now um waiting for inspection. For the subject vehicle to be defected well um letting people be aware of this problem on Scion Tc 2008 I o most lost my life. Now I have cut finger skin and left ankle hurts from trying to use the break pedal my elbow has scar fro the window breaking I cover my face crossing my elbows as a shield for my head I had a sweater and long sleeve my it still cut my left elbow. I am the title owner and took me 7 years to pay off this car but now I want my money back or a replace vehicle. I only have liability and I know the insurance wont believe me.

Right front brake not releasing wore brake pad down to nothing. Discovered brake overheating sounded like a wheel bearing failing but mechanic discovered brake not releasing.

I was driving east bound on the 105 fwy and was keeping a save distance going at approximately 45 mph since traffic was stop and go, when traffic stopped on front of me. I started to apply the brakes with little to no response and could not stop in time to avoid a collision with the vehicle on front of me. A few minutes before and prior to entering the freeway I had felt something similar on the street and thought it wasn't an issue, however the brakes felt as if they were not responding. The brakes began to respond once again and I proceeded to continue to drive. After the accident I thought that this may not be an isolated incident and thought of reporting this incident to make sure it's addressed for future Scion Tc owners. My car is now a total loss and my insurance didn't cover it. I'm now seeking for an alternate vehicle so I can continue my internship/work experience.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Scion Tc. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle accelerated without notice. The vehicle was started and moved forward with the brakes being depressed. I love my scion however I bought brand new from expressway Toyota in dorchester MA in 2005 and with all the recalls I see on here I've only done one, and that the glass windshield. Everyt other time I go the dealer and tell them that there are recalls, they ignore me and say that there isn't . I have some rattling noise going on under my car. . . I fixed once at the dealer and it came back again but now the dealer wants me to pay again to fix it and I think it's a safety concern in the car, the tires are also uneven, I keep having to change tires too often, the hatch lift in the back keeps breaking. . . Major failing and cheap. It feels like it was glued on. I would an answer from the dealer where I bought the car as to why they keep denying my visits on the recalls and why in being charge the same safety work that I've paid once to get fix and now the same rattling noise keeps coming. I never get any information in the mail from my dealer either informing me of these recalls. I guess they are refusing to fix them.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Scion Tc. The contact stated that the fuel filler tank cap would dislodge whenever the vehicle was being refueled. Also, the brake pedal would abnormally travel to the floorboard when depressed and would feel spongy. As a result, there was a delay in response from the vehicle when braking. In addition, the check engine light was continuously illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 35,486. Kmj.

Traveling home from work when I felt something pop under the front of the car. The steering boomeranged to the left, I was not able to recover as it was like it was locked. Unable to turn the steering wheel back to the right, I applied the brakes which would not stop the car as it accelerated . The car crossed the center line into a residential yard hitting a tree head on. I ended up with facial, clavicle, rib, pelvis and hip fractures. The physicians say it will be a year before I will be able to work and I may end up with a permanent limp. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 072913 update: crash on June 5, 2012 resulted in permanent disability, foot drop, an "erector set" inside my leg/hip/pelvis, always wearing the leg brace, dealing with atrophy, pain/discomfort, losing the house, need handicapped accessible apt, finances suck, will always be paying the medical bills, can't go back to work (ever), have already become a burden to other taxpayers & the lawyer advised no successful tort was possible against Toyota scion because there was no other witness. . . (don't believe Toyota would care either way ! ). We got rid of the tundra for a ridgeline too. No Toyota products in our future - ever. Am not complaining though - am very happy to still be vertical.

Brakes feel hesitant to stop and slow down, feel like its a safety hazard because, my 17 year old son has to drive this car, and I need to feel that he has a safe, sturdy sort of transportation.

I purchased a 2009 Toyota scion from the fairfield, CA dealership . I was on the freeway when my car accelerated up to a faster speed than I wanted I tried to correct it in the confusion and not understanding what was going on I lost control and crashed into another vehicle. There was 10,000. 00 of damage to the car it was repaired but then I had another accident in the same car again sitting at a stop light I barley tapped the gas pedal my car jumped into a high speed smashing into the car in front of me after I hit I turned around to check on my child thinking a car had hit me from behind but it was not another car it was just mine but then it did it again smashing into the car again. It was crazy I had no idea what was going on my face was smashed up pretty bad 2 black eyes and fat lips extra. My car hit the car in front of me so hard it smashed into the car in front of it. Now gather I was already stopped sitting and waiting for the light to turn green what caused my car not once but twice to smash into the car in front of me. My car was totaled. I had the worst time with this car it seemed like I was driving with a dark cloud over me. Not only was the acceleration a problem but the trunk lid also broke off and my seat belts did not work properly. There also was a problem with the brakes sometimes if I was on a steep hill the brakes would skip and not catch almost like it would jump.

This event happen 2 times in the 3years I've owned the car, the 1st incident was 2009 while I was parking my car in a wendys lot. While slowing down to park the car accelerated in the parking spot and while slamming my foot on the brakes it finally stopped but on top parking concrete stopper (not sure about name and also on top of the side walk. The second incident just happen today (5/5/10) while leaving work. As I was backing the car up and getting out the parking spot I put the car in drive and it accelerated forward before putting my foot on the gas, I then again banged my foot on the gas and made sure I was pressing the brake and the car kept on accelerating into a parked car and I was then able to put the car in park. The first time the incident happen I was in denial and second guessing my own driving so I paid to get the front bumper replaced. This is the second time this has happen and I reported the incident to my insurance. Not to mention when I first purchased my scion I had spoke to them about my brakes grinding with in the first 1000 miles , they looked at it and told me everything has checked out. I have since dealt with the problem by allowing myself to be prepared ahead of time to stop. I have also had my brakes replaced which in turn didn't sold the grinding. In the snow my car barely even stops.

I own a 2006 Scion Tc and have heard about the recalls for other Toyota models. I have heard a description of the prius braking issue and it sounds similar to issues with my scion. When I hit a bump while breaking there is a skipping motion and a serious lag in breaking. I have brought it up with the dealer in the past and they said it was normal. What can I do to force the dealer or Toyota to investigate this matter?.

Happened last weekend, was making a right turn in my new 2010 Scion Tc. Car is just barely 2 months old and less than 800 miles on the odometer. Middle part of a nice, mild day, dry road, but some broken pavement/roughness at the corner there. Someone coming from my 3 o'clock position was planning to make a u-turn in the intersection so I attempted to stop for them before completing my right turn. Applied brakes and pedal resistance and deceleration rate initially seemed normal, but then when it got a little bumpy the brake pedal effort went to zero and so did my braking. So my car proceeded with the motion, at coasting speed -- not accelerating (my foot was off the gas, on the brake pedal), but also not slowing at all!.

The contact owns a 2008 Scion Tc. Whenever he tried to stop his vehicle and depress the brake pedal it made a clicking noise and snapped back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a representative inspected, test drove it and could feel the brakes click and snap back. He stated that there was no safety issue and the failure was normal on all vehicles. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 14,800.

My wife's 2007 Scion Tc bought brand new from wondries Toyota in alhambra CA. My wife had three incidents where the brakes just wouldn't engage and felt "flat". First incident happened back in February 2008, second incident happened March 2008 and the third in November 2009. Luckily my wife drives slow. The car was driven in the los angeles area when this happened (not in cold climates). Took it to Toyota, got charged on the inspection but "couldn't find anything wrong" according to the service department (yet still being charged a fee). I had since filed a complaint with the better business bureau (complaint 98471676), Toyota wondries dealership and also Toyota America head quarters but all resulted in vain. It would have been nice for Toyota to admit their flawed design and fix the problem since we are talking about human lives here.

I have a 2006 Scion Tc. This car has the same problem like the prius. When I go over bumps, railway tracks, puddles or when it is raining the brakes stop for a second. It has happened to me like 4 times . . I have talked to the dealer, I have talked to my mechanic they all say that my brake is fine and it is more than 90%. But I could swear I have noticed this and I am scared to drive this car on the freeway. I told my mechanic many times that this car has that problem and he always says Toyota is a good car , may be it is in your head. Now I see that so many are with me . Finally someone is believing me.

While parking at a restaurant parking lot my brakes did not want to engage and ended up hitting a trash can at about 5 mph it just happened that one time. One fender had minor damages. Took the car to get serviced up and the brakes were replaced by the car dealership at no cost with the car under 8000 miles.

When the consumer attempted to apply the brakes, the vehicle continued to accelerate which resulted in an accident. The consumer states that previous times when applying the brakes they seem a little slow and occasionally heard an unusually thump noise. The consumer never thought anything about something being wrong with the brakes because it is a brand new car.
