2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

We need help in getting Toyota motors, inc. To honor the warranty program covering premature excessive rust corrosion of certain Toyota model frames. In mid-October 2018 we received notification from Toyota motors, inc. , of the following: warranty enhancement notification zh8 and limited service campaign hof. the zh8 and hof were instituted as a result of a determination that the frames on certain Toyota vehicles are prone to excessive, premature rust corrosion because the frames were not properly prepared and treated against rust corrosion when they were manufactured. excessive rust corrosion on my SUV compromises the vehicles safety, stability, and crash-worthiness because important suspension components, engine mounts, transmission mounts, and body mounts anchor to the vehicles frames. By driving my high end SUV, I will be putting my family's safety at risk. On 10/25/2018: we took our SUV to jim coleman Toyota in bethesda, MD for frame inspection. The attached work order shows: inspected and found no perforation. Eligible for crc spray customer will return at a later date for frame crc application. it was during this time I was told that jim coleman only had one person performing this work. And that we had two years from October 2018 to have the work performed by Toyota at no charge. On Monday March 10, 2019, we left our SUV with the Toyota dealer so that the hof work could be performed. We received a call from the dealer at 5:05pm on Friday 03/15/2019 informing us that (a) our SUV had not been repaired since the frame needed to be replaced (b) that there are large holes in the frame and (c) no work would be performed since the hof had ended in January 2019. We paid over $60,000. 00 for our Toyota SUV not many years ago. We literally received a different answer regarding the crc and hof each time we called Toyota customer relations.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2017

The vehicle vsc trac system goes on for no reason when the car is in motion (roads are straight, and dry). As a result, the brakes go into a loud grind mode and do not engage, a loud blaring beeping sounds, the vehicle starts to vibrates horribly, I can not accelerate and the steering is difficult. It is not safe, as I was on a country road going 55 mph on a straight 2 way road with traffic! it has happened twice and as far as I can see it has happened to many other 2006 Sequoias owners yet only the 2003 were recalled for this issue. Unacceptable!.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2017

Toyota Sequoia (ball joints recall) was driving on highway I-5 northbound just after the bridge that goes over the sacramento river I was on the bypass/cosway bridge driving in the #1 (of 2) lane going 65 mph when suddenly my front end driver's side of my vehicle dropped completely and I was skidding on complete metal, I had no breaks and continued to skid for what seemed like forever, and steered to my to my right passing the #2 lane going up against the edge of the right side on the bridge. I was completely shocked. I couldn't open my driver's side door due the traffic right up against me. I immediately called my insurance road-side assistance who dispatched a tow truck. Due to the nature of the location, the tow truck required the assistance of highway patrol. The tow truck driver immediately knew about this issue and said Toyotas were known from the upper/lower ball joints breaking on them. The vehicle was taken to valley tire service shop. The service guy there also knew immediately what was wrong with it. The next day I called the Toyota manufacturer to report the incident. I was informed that the defective part was in fact a recall. However, the part had already been replaced in 2009. After having reviewed many blogs on line about this being a common issue with Toyota Sequoias (some more than once), I was extremely concerned. I am extremely concerned and fear driving this vehicle knowing that the defective part having already been replaced is still defective. I will not trust another part being replaced on this vehicle and would like to know what I should do.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

Just like every other 2006 Sequoia at 80k miles the yellow abs, yellow vsc off, yellow vsc trac , and red brake dashboard lights came on causing it to fail the MA state inspection. Disassembled p/n 44050-0c100 and the brushes in the abs pump motor (ate 25. 0206-0206. 3) are completely gone.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the check engine, traction off and vsc tract warning indicator illuminated as the brake pedal was depressed but the braking was delayed. The vehicle also veered from left to right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air pump assembly and switching valves failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Sg.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2014

Warning indicator trac off , vsc off, and brake are on with grinding brake noise occurred.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2013

Abs, trac, vsc and brake and check engine lights all signaled fault codes. Codes are #1251 and #1223, again, this after computer module was replaced at full cost to the consumer $1,059. The same fault has re-occurred in less than 6 (six) months of having replaced the abs, trac, vsc computer module.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2013

Codes c1223 (abs control system malfunction), c1247 (stroke sensor), and c1251 (pump motor is locked/ open circuit fault) had to replace vsc module/computer at my own cost.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

Abs system goes on without warning leaving me unable to brake, usually when I am backing out of a parking space & it's cold outside. Has happened intermittently over the last year. When I turn the car off & back on it seems to clear up the issue. Took it in and was given the codes c1223 (fault in abs system), c1247, c1310, was then referred to a dealer. Did some research online & saw I am not alone so wanted to report it. Also 2 years ago we had our latch break on the rear door, had to have it replaced to open up the door, this has happened to many many Sequoias!!.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2012

After putting gas in the vehicle, I pulled away from the gas station and when I came to a stop sign before entering the main thoroughfare the brake pedal was so hard to depress that I almost had to stand on it to get the vehicle to stop, and nearly was unable to before plowing into oncoming traffic I also noticed that the "trac off", "vsc trac", and brake malfunction indicator were all illuminated. It was a real panic situation because it was totally unexpected and my wife and 2 young daughters were in the vehicle with me. I am an 20 year + ase master automotive technician with over 30 years experience. I stopped the vehicle and visually checked the brake system as well as I could on the side of the road and saw no obvious cause for the issue. The only way I could get the warning lights off and the brakes to work was to turn off and restart the ignition. After that, the vehicle went the rest of the day (140 miles) with no problem. I am now afraid to let my wife and kids drive this vehicle until I figure out what's wrong with it. I do see where there are a few similar complaints, and a couple that are pretty much identical to mine. This vehicle is in excellent condition with only 52,000+ miles on it. This is a serious safety concern and it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt of killed due to this issue. There should definitely be some kind of safety recall issued.
