Toyota vsc and abs engaging and activating for no reason on dry pavement causing loss of proper control of the vehicle. The have been multiple occurrences on dry pavement between 30 and 65 mikes per hour. The car pulls to one side as the computer takes control of the car end engages the brakes suddenly for no reason. Vsc skid light goes on on the dash and there is a beeping sound while this happens. Very dangerous. Toyota USA notified and assigned case number 220201001364. They refuse to take any responsibility for this dangerous failure.

Traction control and abs activated on dry roads acting like the vehicle thought it was going into a slide/skid. This could have caused a serious crash! ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 2 - VIN corrected, error in one position; 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.
In motion, on dry, off-camber highway curves, with slight acceleration, the abs/vsc /trak engages, briefly jerking the steering to one side. Dash warnings: "vsc" "trak off" + "check engine". Reducing mechanical "slop" (wheel bearings, steering rack & pinion, etc. ) tends to reduce frequency of occurrence. Toyota dealer diagnosis: "steering control system fault". >"Toyota knows about -- but, does not know how to fix this problem. "< dealer-suggested workaround: "pull fuzes to disable vsc and abs systems. . . " dealer repair documents are with previous owner. . .
I have a Toyota Sienna 2005, mileage 178000, slip indicator turns on randomly and causing the car lost control. It is extremely dangerous when it happened out of zero warning. It's not only scare me but also my children in the car. It has been happened for over a year since sept. 2019. It usually happens when driving on dry curving roads at speeds 35-75 mph. When it happened, the antilock brakes engage, slip indicator light comes on, and alarm sounds, the car's brakes grab and pulls the car to the side. It happens randomly, goes away, and back to normal. I have sent the Mini van to a few mechanics for multiple times but they can't find out what's wrong with it. I have replaced 4 brand new tires, done the zero-point-calibration, mechanics couldn't find codes for the issues, they have tried everything to diagnose and fix the problems but it just never work. I love my Mini van but now I feel very unsafe to drive my family with this Mini van. It bothers me a lot when driving this Mini van. My anxiety level go up, especially, when driving on curving roads. I wish this safety complaint would catch the attention. Hopefully, Toyota would recall the vehicles and fix the issue for their loyal customers, and also the safety of the people and their families riding this Mini van.

I've only had the van for 5 months and this problem has occurred over a dozen times, beginning with the day I bought it. And every time this problem has occurred I've been driving on dry roads. It usually happens when driving around a corner, anywhere from 35-65 mph, far. All of a sudden the traction control light starts beeping, the brakes engage on their own, and then engine makes a loud noise (likely downshifting itself). It's as though the vehicle thinks it is slipping, even though it is not, I drive very cautiously so it's not me flying around a corner super fast, it also happens when my partner drives the van as well. I finally took the van to a mechanic and they told me it was the steering angle sensor that was faulty and needed to be replaced, so I spent $900 to have it replaced. I've had the van back for less then 2 weeks and just tried to take it on a road trip, got about an hour from our house and it did it again 3 times in less then 15 minutes, again driving on dry pavement and when driving on a windy highway. It's terrifying when this happens especially because it always happens when we're going around a corner, it's very dangerous and scary. It seems to be happening with a lot of other Siennas, even newer ones. This is an expensive problem that desperately needs to be addressed, someone is going to wreck and die from this if they haven't already.
I have been having problems with the traction control. The light will randomly turn on, which brakes the wheels. The system will start beeping and saying a false traction control problem. (when the road is clear) I looked online many Toyota Siennas have this issue. It is dangerous and should be recalled to be fixed!.
My vsc and slip dashboard indicators go on while I drive on dry road at speeds between 40-50 mph. The car then gives me kick back on steering and braking, almost as it losing control of my vehicle. It then goes away randomly. It is difficult to replicate the situation but it tends to occur on speeds above 35mph and on a curved road steering. This has occured while on the highway and on regular roads.

Slip indicator sensor turns on ,brakes while turning causes me too loose control while driving very unsafe.
While driving, the traction control system warning came on when the roads were clear and dry. Also, the automatic braking started going off when making turns on clear roads. Whenever we traveled the highway and were making a turn at greater than 35 miles per hour, the warning sounded and the brakes went off.
This happened to our 2006 Sienna today I was about to stop the car white parking it; we put the park they sill run; they never stop, so I turn off the engine; now they no more start very damaged.
On inclines, the vsc light would come on, clicking noise near the steering column. The car would lose power. I have mechanics checked out. Cv joint and ball bearing replaced. Problem persists.
This vehicle has a traction control feature which helps keep it from skidding out of control in icy, wet, or otherwise unstable conditions. It can help an out of control vehicle get back into control by doing a variety of things, including braking. Previously this feature had only kicked on when I would slide on the snow during a low speed turn and would slide in the snow (which was good). But over the past few months, there have been two times that this feature has kicked on at high speeds (once at 40mph and once at 65mph) on dry roads, both while turning around a curve. Suddenly the braking system is applied without any warning and the vehicle swerves slightly and does what it wants for a few seconds. Then it stops. If this were to happen on an icy road at those speeds, the vehicle could certainly spin out of control. The vehicle could also swerve into an oncoming lane of traffic. I have seen many forums online where other Sienna owners are having the same issue and Toyota dealers say they can't replicate or fix the issue. This is certainly a safety issue that needs to be looked into by Toyota to see what is causing this issue. Thank you!.
Continuous issues with traction control system almost daily. Any time vehicle veers towrds the right anti-slip indicator light, alarm sounds and abs system activates. This happens almost daily, on dry roads, going downhill or on a curve, even while switching lanes now. This happens above 20 mph. Driving becomes stressful and worry-some when alarm begins to sound and dash light come on. Fear of losing control becomes great, fear for your passengers safety as well as other drivers safety becomes real. During the past 3 months there have been 5 separate incidents in which the vehicle has lost acceleration, pulls steering in one direction and sudden break lock occurs. 2 of which took place on the freeway on ramp at a speed of 35mph, 1 driving downhill, slightly towards the right, at a speed if 20mph and the last 2 while switching lanes, 35 mph. Vehicle began losing power and slowing instead of increasing speed. There are many complaints regarding this issue with many drivers in many areas. Why isn't this being investigated?.
On dry pavement driving about 35-40 miles an hour the vsc traction sensor came on lights and sound and hit my brakes my steering went to the right I almost got in an accident this is the third time this has happened and they can't figure out what's wrong with it.

While driving with my autustic children the check engine light, the vsc light and the trac off light all came on and the wheels locked up on the right side and through the van into a ditch. This is very dangerous since this vehicle was made for families. I am now keeping a log and I do plan on retaining an attorney as no one has addressed this issue as a safety hazard.
Randomly, on gentle turns our van will suddenly brake with traction control lights and beeping as well. It is always on a windy highway at speeds greater than about 35 mph. We are slower than average cautious drivers. This seems very dangerous to be happening without provocation. I have done an enormous amount of research on this and have found a myriad of other people experiencing the same same problem, and all have found no fix for the issue. They usually go to the dealer multiple times with no success. I don't have the funds to go round and round with the dealer to end up with a repair that still isn't resolved. Pleas help. Thank you.
When I'm driving my vehicle in a city street I get an alert on the instrument panel which says "trac off - check awd system" and the service light turns on. I did not turn the trac off. When I turn the vehicle off and then back on, the service isn't on anymore and the message goes away. This has happened several times when I'm driving and the car stalls and loses speed and wants to shut off as I'm driving in a city street. For several minutes and the service light and the track and awd light turn on and stay on for several hours. However, when I turn off the car the lights are still on but go away after some time. This has happened several times.

A couple of years ago, my 2005 Sienna's vsc warning lights, alarms and braking would come on while going around turns. My car had new tires, wheels were balanced and aligned. It's scary and dangerous when the brakes engage. I'm not going around sharp turns at high rates of speed. Dozens of other people have exactly the same experience, and when the brakes engage, it yanks the car hard, and has almost caused accidents to me and others. This happens to me on a regular basis. The only way to avoid it is to slow down to less than 40mph on some turns, which is dangerous when the speed limit is 65. Here's a link to the many other people's experience with this exact same thing. This is a liability and Toyota really needs to take action here. . Read more...
At speeds of anywhere between 30-60 mph, traction control system engages when turning slightly left. Alarm comes on, brakes are automatically applied. Very dangerous.
While driving at or below the speed limit, under dry conditions, on curvy roads, the vsc dash light comes on and engages with beeping and automatic braking. The rapid deceleration and skidding, as the tires lock-up, makes control of the vehicle difficult and cars following must panic brake to avoid rear-ending my vehicle. Increasing occurrences over the past year.
Electronic anti-sway override kicks in for no apparent reason at highway speeds. Usually when taking slight banks or turns over 35 mph.
When driving at speeds of 38 mph or more and turning the steering wheel/tires, the vsc warning alarm will go off. When this happens, the cars automatically brakes. This happens when there are no problems with the driving conditions. The severity of the braking and length of alarm vary. It is especially problematic on tight turns. It does not matter whether you are going uphill, downhill, or turning on a flat road. We do not know what is causing this unsafe issue. We have tried turning off the trac. It made no difference.
Car engenders self braking and cutting power off.
The tcs is malfunctioning, causing the brakes to lock up. I. E. -going 35mph, in a wide curve, the steering "jerked" side to side as the van lost traction and then came to a full stop as the brakes kicked in. The traction control alarm and dash light came on during the event, but then went off as soon as the brakes released. This has been on-going for 3 weeks, but the most recent was today.
The traction control system is activating improperly. The vehicle's anti-slip indicator warning light illuminates; an alarm sounds; the abs system activates; and the vehicle sometimes loses power. This happens on dry roads, most commonly either going downhill or else on a curve, even a mild one. This happens above 20 mph. When it happens, the combination of alerts and sensations are very startling to the driver, creating a dangerous situation. It has occurred while trying to accelerate to merge onto a highway. This was exceptionally dangerous as the vehicle began losing power and vehicles behind us almost hit us from behind as we were slowing instead of increasing speed. From my internet searches (including NHTSA complaints), this appears to be a recurring issue with this make/model/year range. This has been happening for the past 3 months. Our vehicle has approximately 135,000 miles on the odometer.

At random speeds, on curves and straightaways, the traction lights alarms and engages the brakes. This seems really dangerous. Our mechanic doesn't know what is the cause or how to fix it.

While driving on a slope, incline or decline, my traction control light ( car with squiggles behind it) comes on, a loud beep beep beep sounds, and my car brakes on its own. Always happens while in motion. Highway driving. 90 percent of the time while on an incline or decline. It scares the heck out of you causing an unsafe condition. Additionally, when the brakes apply, it pulls you out of your lane. The first occurrence was 3 weeks ago. Has happened multiple times since. It doesn't seem to be intermittent anymore. You can count on it happening when your on a slope.
When making turns at speeds higher than 30 mph sometimes on the freeway or especially when driving up a hill, the slip indicator light, vsc light and alarm sounds and occasionally will automatically activate the abs braking system (even while you're still pressing on the accelerator) which causes you to lose control of the vehicle temporarily. The abs activation does not happen every time, but when it happens, it is very scary. There are many people online complaining of the same exact issue and Toyota cannot find the problem. One person stated the problem went away once he replaced the entire rack.

When driving in perfectly dry conditions and going anywhere from 30-70 mph on a winding road or highway, the vsc lights will come on and the alarm will sound and you can't accelerate. It's very scary and dangerous because you are not in control of the vehicle. It happens every time we go for a drive on a winding road or highway. I have read hundreds of similar complaints from other Sienna owners. It's clearly a widespread problem. Toyota needs to issue a recall as all the repair shops we have gone to cannot figure out how to fix the problem.
The traction control erroneously engages under normal driving conditions, which in turn activates the abs. This causes sudden and unexpected braking. This is dangerous and could lead to loss of control of the vehicle.
When driving under normal conditions the vehicles' vsc will engage. The dashboard lights go off, there is a loud interior beeping sound, the abs engages, the car slows down drastically at once. The roads are dry. At first this happened while driving normal speed exiting or entering an hwy off/on ramp. Then happened yesterday as I was driving on neighborhood streets at about 25-30 mph. I could hear a rubbing on the back tires as if the brakes were on.
When driving at any speed above 25 mph, the traction control light on the dashboard will come on, it will beep and the brake will engage without the driver pressing the brake pedal (these all happen at the same time). This in turn locks the brakes at times and the car veers to the right. There is no reason that we can figure out that this happens. It has happened many times and three days ago, it happened twice in one day. We have taken our vehicle to hendrick Toyota in wilmington nc and provided them a video where two owners took videos each time it happened in their vehicle. I also provided them with email discussions from two different web sites where owners were discussing the issue. We believe this should be a recall for Toyotas.
I own a 2006 Toyota Sienna le with only 26500 miles on it. I was driving my car on the highway doing 45 miles per hour on a dry pavement on Tuesday 09/03/2019 around 6:40 pm and at a sudden moment the vsc light started flashing, warning sound came on, the car applied the brakes on its own hard until it fully stopped, and the engine shut off by itself, which almost got me into an accident. I contacted Toyota and they told me that I have to pay for the dealer to get the car diagnosed for this safety issue, they transferred me to hudson Toyota and they confirmed that I have to pay for it despite that I had my car to the dealer recently for two recalls and they checked the car and gave me a report that everything in the car was good. I have looked online and I found a lot of Toyota Sienna owners from this model complaining about it and youtube videos documenting it, this link shows a Toyota Sienna owner documenting on video the same problem (https://youtu. Be/sy9a8shj0xg) which happened with him 20 times in the course of 90 minuets and the dealer could not find what was wrong with his car. This issue should be fixed under a recall by Toyota because the car should not be able to apply the brake on its own randomly on the highway.
