36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

I have a 2005 Toyota Sienna where the vsc system activated randomly and slowed our van down. When it first happened we thought that the van broke down because there was a beeping sound and it seemed like the brakes activated by itself. Kinda scared us because we were going around a turn at 60mph.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2020 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

Dear to who concern this case, on August 26, 2019, I purchased a brand new car, Sienna, Toyota 2020 from principle Toyota on 7370 winchester rd, memphis, tennessee 38125. I discovered that there are major issues with the car. I was guaranteed by the dealer that the car is in perfect working condition before purchase. However, after driving the new car for few days, the key remote stopped working and I revisited the dealership to get it fixed. I talked to jimmy rocker, one of the sale associates, and he transferred me to the Toyota service center. After few more days of driving the car, more problems emerged. The car warning monitor indicated awd system malfunction 2wd mode engaged, contact your dealer as well as brake override malfunction, visit your dealer. Not only the warnings, the car suddenly stopped on the highway. Luckily there were no cars behind me, otherwise I would have been injured. The second time I revisited the dealership, I encountered chris thompson, the new car director at principle Toyota. I suggested him to inspect my car and finding a solution for it. I have tried to explain to him how it was dangerous for me and my family. I have two kids who are driving with me and if the situation happened again, we would have been fatally injured. Chris did not listen to my story but instead told me that the car does not belong to him and he just walked away in front of our conversation. I was very disappointed because of his indifference towards my situation and the type of customer service I received was not expected from a well-known company like yours. To ensure the safety of kids and my family, I demand a replacement of the car as well as any compensation associated my spent time at the dealership. I hope there will be a reasonable solution for my case. Best regards, tran tien le.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/29/2019

When driving in dry conditions at various speeds over 25 mph, the vsc warning light comes on, an alarm sounds and the antilock brakes engage for no reason. This is a terrifying and extremely dangerous issue that is well documented by so many Toyota Sienna owners but to date has not been addressed or acknowledged by Toyota. When taken to a dealership, they claim (as other owners have also stated) that they cannot replicate the problem and it does not register through the obd2 sensor so there is no record of it happening. With as many people as this is happening with, it is not a question of whether there will be accidents, injuries and ultimately deaths caused by this issue. The only question is when and how many have to occur before Toyota acknowledges this is a problem. Driving down the road, in traffic at 65 miles an hour when for no reason, the car slams on the brakes without warning. It is happening all the time at this point making the car completely unsafe to drive for the owner, the vehicle's occupants and any unsuspecting vehicle in the vicinity. I am begging you. Please get Toyota to issue a recall before tragedy strikes. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I am submitting the date below as today's date as the car is now sitting in my driveway until I can figure out what needs to be done. It has happened over the past 6 months every time I drive it and the $750 steering position sensor that Toyota replaced did nothing to address the problem.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

Vehicle would engage brakes by itself and vsc and traction control lights would start flashing and beeping when going around curves or hitting bumps in the road. This was frightening, and caused me to not in good conscience sell the vehicle outright to another person, so I lost thousands of dollars by trading it in. This happened intermittently for over a year. Estimated financial loss $4000. 00.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

When we go on curvy roads, a clicking starts. It sounds as if it is coming from under the dash near the steering. Once that starts up the traction control malfunctions. The warning alarm comes on and the brakes engage on their own. It doesn't seem to matter how fast or slow we take the curve. This started about a year ago and continues to get worse. I've taken it to the mechanic but he can't replicate the problem because the road are mostly straight there and they couldn't physically see anything wrong. For what its worth, the problem happens when the roads are dry or wet. The tires are good and so is the pressure. This seems to be a common problem in this model of car and especially this particular year. . Read more...

45 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

The problem occurs when going out a variation of speeds 35 on the street or 60 on the highway 45 on the freeway regardless of whether we're turning or going straight both my wife and I have can I have had this problem with her we did notice that it's happy and tends to happen more on a turn. The car will come to a route abrupt stopped and the slip indicator light will come on for a brief second making a noise and then simply disappear and this happen spontaneously or sporadically which is very dangerous.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 05/12/2019

While driving in the mountains and curving right, the stability control activated the brakes. The car was not speeding and the roads were dry. It happened 3 times in one trip. The braking action made it difficult to complete the turn. Plus the decrease in speed was a danger to the occupants plus the car behind us. Other curves did not activate the stability control so it was a guess as to when and if this would happen. Did make it back safely.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

The traction control, stability, and abs engage in turns (steering input) ranging from speeds of 25-55 mph. It happens on flat surfaces, inclines and declines. The turn range from sharp turns to slight turns that there is no reduction of speed to navigate the turn. When it occurs the vehicle rapidly decelerates and pulls to the right. When trying to accelerate in a turn the vehicle will not accelerate until there is no steering input. Dealers and mechanics can not determine the cause. It has been occurring daily for about 6 months. This has caused many near crashes.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

49 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/08/2019

The anti skid control light comes on from time to time when I am driving, especially on the highway. In addition to the light, there is warning beeping, as if I'm sliding on ice. At the same time, I completely lose control of the acceleration and braking. It's very scary, and I am concerned for my safety and my family's. This has happened multiple times on clear, dry days, so it's definitely not caused by the road being wet or icy.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/08/2019

Traction control all of a sudden started turning on at every turn automatically making the car lock its brakes I'm pretty sure this is not the first you guys have heard of this.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/20/2019

The van has several times, without warning, applied the brakes while a light comes on the dashboard and a beeping sound is heard. The last time it happened my wife was merging into traffic and it caused a dangerous situation. I have researched and found this to be some sort of traction control system malfunctioning. It seems to have happened to many people, and many people complain it can potentially cause a life threatening situation. This problem has came on while normal driving or in my wife's case while accelerating to merge into traffic.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 02/10/2019

When on a curve the traction control engages affecting the brakes and steering of the vehicle. Speed does not seem to matter, it has engaged at 10mph and at 65 mph. Last straw was when it engaged on the straight away on the highway at 65mph in the high speed lane dropping the speed down to 35mph almost causing a serious accident. It's been happening for a couple of months and two independent mechanics were not able to figure out the problem even after running a moving vehicle diagnostic. It went off a total of 18 times in a aproximate 15 minute, three mile drive with the mechanic. After watching many videos, and complaints online, why hasn't something been done on this issue that has been going on for over eight years now? I'm afraid to take this vehicle on the highway anymore!!!.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2006 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/30/2019

The traction control is malfunctioning and turning on during normal driving conditions. There is a loud beeping and the traction control light turns on while turning. This has happened at various speeds from 35 mph on a city street to 65 mph on freeways. What is really alarming is that sometimes while the light turns on the system applies the brakes to one wheel pulling the vehicle suddenly to one side. This is very dangerous at high speeds. I have replaced many parts- shocks, control arms, joints and taken it to multiple mechanics. This is a common problem when searching the web but nobody is able to find a solution.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/14/2019

Vsc system activates the abs while driving under normal conditions. Usually on interstate entrance/exit ramps, the vsc light comes on with loud beeping noise and activates the anti-lock brakes. The vehicle pulls either to the left or right and acceleration is affected. It's very scary! speed limit on ramp is 55mph and it happens when going 45-50mph. It's also happened while driving 35 mph. It happens at multiple locations. I've had the car checked by 3 different shops and nobody can figure out what's going on. It's a weekly occurrence.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 01/10/2019

On the afternoon of January 10, 2019, my Toyota Sienna failed to brake and resulted in a two-car collision. Just before the accident, my son who was seated in the second-row, observed on the multi-information display that the abs, vsc, and trac were displaying.

56 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/30/2018

Traction control malfunction. While driving on curvy roads there is a beeping alarm, steering locks up, brakes engage. The car seems to think that the traction is off. This has been a problem for over a year. No problems driving in city. Only happens on curvy roads.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/26/2018

When turning corners, the vsc light turns on, the car beeps, and the abs system engages, causing the car to brake on own. This happens every day, intermittently, at all speeds.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/04/2018

The traction control system comes on when going into any right turn. The alarm beeps and the car automatically brakes, and the gas pedal is disabled so that you can not speed up. The braking can be so severe that it will reduce speed from 45 mph to 25 mph without notice which jerks the passengers violently.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

While driving the vehicle at higher speeds (greater than 40 mph) around curves, the skid indicator sensor will occasionally trigger even on dry pavement where no slipping is happening. The car will automatically decelerate and brake momentarily. There is often a clicking sound in the steering column as well. The vsc warning light occasionally comes on too. Mechanics on multiple occasions have not been able to figure out what is causing the problem. However, based on research at Toyota blogs, it appears that other Toyota Sienna drivers have experienced this same issue.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2015 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/16/2018

The vehicle was stationary and one day abs malfunction light came on due to faulty harness on a 3 year old 35,000 mile vehicle. This reduces the ability of the vehicle to stop normally as it should this also disables the traction control on the vehicle. I was driving in rain without any traction control and it was scary. I contacted Toyota and they keep stating the car is out of warranty. It is $500+ repair to abs system due to their faulty parts. I just need this to be on the record incase something happens while driving a Toyota Sienna.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Vsc keeps engaging / with lights and alarms, the car looses power and pulls to right. This occurs unnecessarily at different speeds below 20 mph and at 65 mph on a freeway straight away and on & off ramps of the freeway. This is happening with dry / good weather operation. I have owned this vehicle for 1 week and have had this happen at least a dozen time.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/23/2018

I had the front brakes and rotors replaced a few weeks ago. This past weekend all 4 tires were replaced. When driving off the dealer after the tire replacement, I noticed the abs and vsc lights were on. Turned back and took the minivan back to the dealer. Next day service mgr said according to the mechanic, the abs actuator needs to be replaced. This is a $2500 part, plus labor.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

On the evening of October 7, 2018 the driver's side sliding door made a clicking & popping sound as if the automatic open had been activated. The keys were in the ignition and in the acc position. The noise continued after the car was started and in the 30 minute drive home I heard the noise 2-3 more times. Max speed with this incident was 40mph. This morning (October 8, 2018), I had just dropped off my kids at school and I was the only person in the car. The same door that made the sounds opened while the car was in motion (all doors were locked). I stopped the car and tried to shut it, but it was jammed and wouldn't close 100%. I turned off the automatic doors thinking this would prevent the door from opening again, then continued to drive slowly, as I was only a few blocks from home. Less than a minute later, the door opened again and this time it was very fast due to the auto door being turned off. Once again I tried to close it, and was without success. I checked out the rear of the door and noticed that the latch was closed. I managed to get it open enough to catch when attempting to close it, which worked, but the door was not closed securely. I got home safely and was able to completely close the door. Fast forward to this afternoon: I start the car and although automatic doors have been turned off, the door is clicking/popping as if trying to open. The noise stopped without any intervention from me. As of this moment (afternoon of 10/08/2018) no other incident has occurred. The clicking/popping sounds occurred both while stationary and driving on city streets. The door opening occurred while in motion on city streets traveling approximately 25mph.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/07/2018

The anti-skid control engaged when turning slightly on the freeway. When it engaged at highway speed (roughly 55mph) it pulled me into oncoming traffic. This is a known problem with this vehicle that should have been recalled.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 10/05/2018

Airbag light for driver side blinks off and on during driving at speeds between 35-45 mph. This occurred at 209,560 +/- miles. This is occuring with other issues in the electrical modules including abs control malfunction, power supply voltage yaw/deceleration sensor and it loses communication with steering angle sensor module. This seems to not only be an issue with my vehicle but others as well from reading many forums on Toyota Sienna vans including ones just a few years old.

66 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/26/2018

Check engine light, vsc and trac off. As I was driving after just purchasing this vehicle from a dealer after about 60 miles or so these lights all came on the same time. I was told after a scanner was placed on the vehicles computer system that it is due to either catalytic convertor/O2 sensor malfunctions. This is an important exhaust and emission component designed to burn up toxic exhaust fumes that sets off these lights. This is a major issue with not only this vehicle but other Toyotas. This needs to be addressed. We in the USA would like to breath clean air and it doesn't seem feasible to have to continue to "fix" these sensors designed to make consumers spend large amounts of money to fix their vehicles.

67 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2017 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/10/2018

Husband lost control of the car driving 75 miled per hour on highway. "awd brake override. Contact dealership" came on a gauge. Pulled off side of I-95 and car shook and came to a complete hault after making a loud grinding noise. We immediatley noticed fire coming from under the hood on driver side. Evacuated, called 911. Car was a total loss. Please get Toyota to investigate since this is not the first 2017 Toyota Sienna to catch on fire in the same manner.

68 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

I have a 2004 Sienna with ~125,000 miles on itand this problem has been going on for about 2 months. It happened twice in a span of 5 minutes, and then didn; since then it has occurred with greater frequency and intermittent severity. In almost all cases, it occurs when driving 55-70 mph and while going around a right hand bend in the road, the "skid" light will come on, beep, and then the brakes will suddenly engage, causing the car to pull one way or the other (often left towards oncoming traffic). As soon as you exit the curve, the light goes off and you can accelerate back to speed.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

The vsc and traction control system and slip indicator warning lights come on around curves just as the front wheels grab. I have taken it to several mechanic s and Toyota dealership and they said nothing shows up on the dynastic test machine. So, it seems to me that this is hazardous situation and records show I hold Toyota responsible for my family's safety and well-being. 70 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2008 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

We have a 2008 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle has 174,000 miles on it. The vsc icon comes on along with the alarm when driving on dry roads and when turning whether on flat or downhill travel with the brakes grabbing and releasing. The situation is unpredictable. Problem started at approximately 173,000. The slip indicator light started coming on intermittently while turning on highways etc. Please make this serious recall for Toyota. You need to force Toyota to take this seriously before someone loses a life. Max shaw maxshaw8@gmail. Com.
