About 20 minutes away from home we heard some "growling" and "ticking" noise from the engine. No instrument warning lights came on. As we pulled into our steep driveway, the oil pressure light started to blink. We shut the engine. Upon inspection, the oil dipstick appeared dry. I added about 4 qts of oil, and started the engine. It sounded normal, and no warning light was displayed. I brought the car to a level area and checked oil again. I added another quart - oil was between the marks on the dipstick. I noticed light dripping from the front area of the engine, near the oil cooler. I then drove the car to the auto repair shop (about 4 miles away). Engine sounded ok, no warning lights. Next day I was told that the oil line to the oil cooler is leaking, and there's damage to the engine due to running with no oil. I assume that the engine operated with no oil when we heard noises - but how could the oil leak out and run the engine dry for 15 minutes *before* the light came on? how common is the problem of the oil-cooler hose failing? does this model share the same engine as the Lexus rx350? if so - is the problem related (I read that many rx350 owners complained about this) ?.

Was driving vehicle on freeway at 70 mph when engine noise started. I soon noticed the check engine light and the oil pressure light was on and stopped the van. Added more oil and restarted the van. I then investigated and found oil leaking out of a ruptured rubber oil cooler hose. I lost nearly 6 quarts of oil that had been pumped out on the highway. (possibly causing a traffic hazard to other drivers) towed van to dealer and had to pay over $250. 00 for repairs to the oil cooler lines. New lines are now all metal lines. Dealer refuses to accept any responsibility for possible engine damage.

There was a pin hole puncture in the flexible material the oil cooler is made of. The result of this is that all the oil is forced out of the engine very quickly under high pressure. There was no warning until I heard engine noise. I had the van towed in and had the part replaced. The current factory authorized part is now made out of metal. The dealership then informed me that because of the failure of the part I would need a new engine. It will cost $10,000. I asked if there was anything I could have done differently to prevent this I was told no. My engine is still under warranty but the part that caused it is not. I realize parts break but this part is not a maintenance part and the expected outcome of its failure is engine replacement. This I have found from experienced auto people is common knowledge. I believe this is a defect that Toyota knows about and is willing to ignore by invoking their warranty as a reason to allow this to happen to unsuspecting owners. Oh, when I contacted Toyota for help with my $10,000 problem, they offered me dinner. At this point I own a $30,000 piece of junk ( I owe $20,000) none of this would have occurred if the part had been made out of metal originally or if there was some kind of safeguard built in to warn you of the potential problem. Unfortunately that is not the case. Please help.

Joining highway in a situation where vehicles giving way cause hesitation and then give way causing braking then acceleration repeatedly, transmission refused to downshift on kick down, vehicle would not accelerate, actually slowed significantly forcing following vehicles to brake . Vehicle eventually began to pick up speed. Generally poor response from transmission in all modes. Transmission drops out of drive at low speeds causing engine to race before taking up drive,
very hard to operate vehicle smoothly. . Excessive engine vibration and noise for this price point ,known more refined diesels
knocking from steering column on constant radius turns when making small steering corrections, detectable at low and moderate to high speed.

On March 12. 2010 I was traveling to arches national park with four other passengers. On the way, we decided to stop by bryce canyon utah. I was driving a 2007 Toyota Sienna through 26 s. Main street bryce canyon city. Because of bad weather condition. I had put the car in gear 3 and was driving 5 miles per hour. Suddenly I heard the engine accelerate and felt the car push forward. I let off the accelerator and cautiously pressed the brakes as hard as I could, but brakes did not respond and the car continued forward about 150 feet. Somehow I managed to turn right on center street and bumped onto the curb to be able to stop the car. After the car came to full stop, the engine sounded normal. Because of this incident, we changed our schedule and returned home.
2007 Toyota Sienna made a pinging sound when first starting the vehicle. Consumer states that the dealer stated that this is normal when the engine was cold. Dealer called it a piston slap. Finally dealer stated the vehicle had a problem.
There were problems with transmission and tire equipment. Mr the vehicle was on it's fourth set of tires due to a tracking problem. There was a whine coming from the torque converter pump. The transmission shifted to neutral on three occasions. Dealer saw indications of early sludge build up in the oil. The engine made noises and vibrated. (dayton/goodyear).
