I've only had the van for 5 months and this problem has occurred over a dozen times, beginning with the day I bought it. And every time this problem has occurred I've been driving on dry roads. It usually happens when driving around a corner, anywhere from 35-65 mph, far. All of a sudden the traction control light starts beeping, the brakes engage on their own, and then engine makes a loud noise (likely downshifting itself). It's as though the vehicle thinks it is slipping, even though it is not, I drive very cautiously so it's not me flying around a corner super fast, it also happens when my partner drives the van as well. I finally took the van to a mechanic and they told me it was the steering angle sensor that was faulty and needed to be replaced, so I spent $900 to have it replaced. I've had the van back for less then 2 weeks and just tried to take it on a road trip, got about an hour from our house and it did it again 3 times in less then 15 minutes, again driving on dry pavement and when driving on a windy highway. It's terrifying when this happens especially because it always happens when we're going around a corner, it's very dangerous and scary. It seems to be happening with a lot of other Siennas, even newer ones. This is an expensive problem that desperately needs to be addressed, someone is going to wreck and die from this if they haven't already.

The contact stated that while at stop light, the vehicle stalled while his foot was on the brake as several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to place the vehicle into neutral and coasted into a driveway. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that there was no oil in the vehicle. The contact then placed oil into the engine and the oil immediately leaked out the vehicle. A mechanic was able to come to the scene of the vehicle and had the oil hose replaced. The gear shift lever on our 2005 Toyota Sienna became loose and wobbly. The vehicle was in park and my wife shifted into reverse. She heard a noise like something had broken and fallen to the floor behind the gear shift lever. The lever was loose and wobbly after that. The dealer said there was no recall for our particular Sienna.

I have a 2005 Sienna . Since I bought it , transmission is jerky, sticky, jumpy and erratic transmission movement when you suddenly stop and try proceed. Visited dealer four times recalibrated twice. Now not only original problems persist in addition transmission shifts make a loud noise.
I bought this 2000 Sienna new. I have had three major problems in two years. The latest failure is on transmission. Toyota replaced it with a rebuilt and it is giving me all sorts of problems that Toyota is refusing to acknowledge and unwilling to replace the substandard transmission with a new part. The transmission is noisey. I have experienced slips in gears, hesitation in shifting , underpower when accelerating beyond 60-65 mph or driving on hills. I have difficulties changing in and out of fast lanes, it is dangeours and Toyota insisted that it meets the standard. The same arrogance that they have displayed when I presented them with the power door porblem. Now they revealed to me that they acknowledged the door problem but why aren't them issuing a recall. There was also problem with the antilock brakes. I nned you assistance to resolve my transmission problem as well as bring the safety issue on Sienna to the public awareness!.
