1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2011 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

I was driving the vehicle down the interstate and it started to slow down. The engine was still running. However, the transmission was slipping and I could not maintain the posted speed limit. The only way to keep the vehicle moving was to rev the engine up to between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm. Fortunately, I was able to get to an exit and get the vehicle to a parking lot. At that point, the vehicle would not move under it's own power. The engine would run, but there was no power to the drive wheels. This concerns me as I was lucky to get the vehicle off the interstate and off the road without incident. Otherwise, given the traffic and posted speed limit, I was concerned that someone would run into me.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 04/28/2014

Upon slowing down to turn a street corner the transmission slipped before it would go again. It seemed that it was between the slowing down and re-accelerating after the turn. This problem is well documented on google by many drivers. The dealers reprogram some computer and then declare it to be fixed when the same problem occurs again. Toyota refuses to fix the problem which costs one about $3,000 to actually fix it by replacing the transmission. I bought the van as used.

4 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 09/13/2008

Transmission slipping on 2007 Toyota Sienna van. When traveling at 6-8 mph the transmission will slip when the accelerator is depressed. The van will hesitate then suddenly lurch forward. The dealer says that this is normal and will not do anything to repair it.

5 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2005 Toyota Sienna

Failure Date: 07/24/2006

As we exited the dealership after purchasing the 2005 Toyota Sienna van, the transmission seemed to slip as it downshifted into a slow turn. This happened so many times with various drivers that we contacted the dealer. Some five trips and weeks without our vehicle, the dealer couldn't fix it. They also experienced the problem and would contact the Toyota rep. More visits and calls and no repair. The dealer said the transmission was getting used to the primary driver. Dealer seemed to doubt our credibility, but has agreed to either fix it or "convince us that this is the way a 2005 Sienna van drives. " after reading the numerous complaints just like ours, I doubt that Toyota can fix this. Computer was reprogrammed and fluid changed--made it worse. We give up. We note that the 2006 Sienna has not received any complaints like this.
