I just bought this Toyota Tacoma prerunner trd off road trim, at longo Toyota, el monte , CA and I am very dissatisfied with the quality of product I bought at that dealership I should have looked around or gone to where I always go cerritos auto square. The trucks rear lift gate only closes from the right side and the left side remains opens I need to slam it shut so it can completely close, but then when I open it the lift gate opens with force from the left side it's pops open it doesn't open like it should. Also the front Toyota emblem on the grill is loose not tight like it should be and to finalize this complaint the space between the hood and chrome piece that goes around the font grill it is uneven, this is disappointing. I went from a Honda to a Toyota but it's not starting out well. My main concern is the rear lift gate that won't close from the left side maybe the lift gate is crooked.

While driving from east to west and crossing the gorge at george, washington wind was blowing really hard. Then I heard wind noise coming into the vehicle. I stopped at the next rest area and checked the vehicle out and found that the windshield seal had lifted and was causing wind noise and flexing of the windshield. This could have been catastrophic had the windshield blown completely out. This is unsatisfactory for a brand new vehicle.

Windshield seal lifts in high winds and allows air into cab of truck.
Auxiliary audio jack is designed poorly causing failure. Front turn signal both sides yellow bulb the connector for the bulb and the bulb itself blackens and is fragile. Fake front bumper cover is misleading and falsely gives a feeling of safety. Actual bumper is quite small and may lead to catastrophic injury or death in the event of a moderate overlap collison. The accident or collision occurred with a moderate overlap hitting left 1/4 of front bumper the front left fender was pushed into the door causing more body damage than should have occurred.

While pulling my truck into the garage, I applied the brake. I was slowing down and heard the acceleration traction control turn on and my truck lunged forward about one to two feet. The front of my truck hit against some items in my garage and broke my headlight housing on the passenger side and scratched my bumper.

My 2008 Toyota Tacoma has a factory bed extender. Which allows use to use the tailgate as part of the truck bed. Due to the small 5 ft bed. Load the weight of a rototiller into the truck cased the tailgate to bow and become unstable. They do not have any weight limit or restriction posted. If they sell parts to use the tailgate to support items it should not fail under such light loads. 2008 Toyota Tacoma tailgate is dangerously weak, and is unable to support what most consider normal weight for a truck tailgate. Although substandard design may be considered "buyer beware", truck buyers expect a tailgate to support the weight of normal truck use activities. Toyota provides no warning or caution anywhere that the tailgate is of insufficient strength to perform normal 1/2-ton truck duties, and typically (per internet forum threads) tells their customers that it is their problem and that they should not expect to be able to safely use the tailgate for anything more than hiding the inside of the bed. Since Toyota has produced a substandard designed part, they should have provided a visual warning on the part to alert customers to the danger their product imposes if used in a traditional manner. Since they did not do so, they should be held liable to provide a redesigned part to their customers or full restitution for the purchase price of the vehicles. A google or similar internet search on "tacoma tailgate forum" will substantiate my statements beyond my personal experience with the tailgate bending.

I was coming into a right handed corner on dry pavement doing 45mph (less than the suggested speed for the corner). As I let off the throttle and turned into the corner the vehicles stability control kicked in causing the truck to go straight. I had to fight aginst the steering wheel and managed to overpower the stability control but by then I was in the on-comming lane.

This is a very commonly reported phenomenon, see the websites listed at the bottom. Reported phenomenon has occurred approximately 10 times within the previous 5000 miles. When entering a turn with no brake applied, most commonly a cloverleaf, the vehicle stability control will engage and apply the brakes in the middle of the turn. No brake lights are displayed so vehicles behind are not aware of the sudden slowing. Environmental conditions were dry, sunny, and the vehicle speed is well within a safe speed. This is very repeatable in specific locations. This problem was been reported to dublin Toyota and they do not know how to fix it, but will charge me to try a zero point calibration which is not proven to resolve this known problem. . . . Finally did floor mat recall work done on my 2006 Tacoma. New floor mat is thin, flimsy, nothing like original thick all weather floor mat. I also want to add, there was nothing wrong with the original design aw floor mat for Tacoma vehicles, there was absolutely no interference with the accelerator pedal, and that the only reason I changed the mats was due to the mat ribs starting to break on the driver's side. In addition, the campaign called for the floor carpet to be vacuum cleaned and shampooed, and none of this was done. The dealer simply swapped-out the floor mats and charged-out $185 to "recall work", I don't even think they did any pedal adjustment. Here's the real problem: the new, thin, flimsy floor mat uses the old floor mat retainer hooks that were intended for the thick all weather floor mats. These floor mat hooks hurt my feet when driving barefoot, but more importantly, they can, they will, and they have caught and hooked-up the heel of my shoes on occasion. I am a very safe driver, do not tailgate vehicles, and I tell you now, these hooks have caused me to get into embarrassing situations and very near accidents due to my shoe getting caught in the hooks and not being able to brake properly and on time. If I modify the hooks or cut them, there is a good chance that the new mat will slide-up under the pedals, preventing use of the brakes and not being able to stop the vehicle. I will not do this, I will not assume this responsibility. At this present situation, at this present design, the liability rests with the manufacturer and the authorization for this recall design modification. As I mentioned earlier, there was no problem with the original design for this specific year/make/model; however, the recall modification did create a problem where none existed, and made the situation worse than original.

I have a Toyota on recall for floor mats. I did not have the Toyota floor mats, not provided when purchased. On 2/12/10 40k maintenance was done on my vehicle I expressed concern about the accelerate / brake issue that Toyota was having said my vehicle was not on the recall list. I asked the adviser if the mechanic would please check the accelerator & brakes while performing the maintenance check, he stated he that it would be done with the inspection. Upon receiving my Toyota from the service adviser, I again asked if it had been done. He stated that my Toyota was in perfect condition. Prior to the accident, I did not notice any problem with either the accelerator or braking system. On the morning of 2/26/10 approximately 10:15 - 10:30 I was taking my child to school. I parked my Toyota in a car space and took her to class. I returned to my vehicle to drive home. I was wearing my seat belt. I stepped on the brake, started the truck, shifted to reverse and gentle tapped the accelerator. The truck accelerated out of control at least 53 ft backwards into a tree. I tried to stop the vehicle with the brakes but the didn't work. I remember glancing forward for a split second to make sure my foot was completely on the brake pedal and applying additional pressure turning back around and then the back of my truck hit the tree. Per police there was a 53 ft skid mark from one of my tires. Tires were still spinning per witnesses after car hit the tree. I turned off the truck. At that point the fire & ambulance arrived and shortly after that the police. Police report. I do not know the exact speed I was traveling. I do not know the exact mileage on the truck.

Toyota Tacoma 2008 please study this accident. It may relate to the gas pedal, so let Toyota know to recall this model too so to prevent an another fatal accident like my brother had.
On November 09, 2009, about 19:21 p. M. I was driving my vehicle Toyota Tacoma 2006. I was unable to stop at the red signal due to brake failure and my car was going down the grade totaly out of control without brakes and unable to stiring the wheel and after this I struck another vehicle. The accident happened in paterson, passaic county, new jersey. The police report # 09-141205. The next day after the accident Toyota sent me a recall letter about floor mat interference with accelerator pedal.
2008 Toyota Tacoma truck floormats were posed as a safety hazard and recall was issued sept. 2009. I am owner of a 2008 Tacoma truck. As of this date June 27, 2010, I have not received any correspondence from Toyota or my local dealer regarding replacement solution.
Floor mat issue with Toyota. I reported this to Toyota back in Mar 2009 and was told there was no issues with this. It had scared the !@#$% out of me 4 or 5 times until I was able to figure it out. I just noted your site had a report section and wanted to add my problems to the report.
I notice the brake pedal goes all the way down before the brake feels that is applied. I've taken back to dealership and they found nothing in error. I disagree. I've had several other people drive my car-with the same concern. Brakes don't grab. My brother who is ups head mechanic said the same, a fault with the brake pedal. Shouldn't have to go to the floor before the braking system is applied. Just want you to know there's a problem there. I'm aware of it so I drive with caution. But this needs to be address. Thanks, patti kay. I took back to dealership oct. 22 2008 and they said the cause was from the floor mat---it doesn't matter how many floor mats you have it's in the pedal. Either needs adjusted or new pedal system put in.
Not long after my basic warranty expired, I had fraying in my seat belt that was to the point it didn't pass inspection. I took it to a Toyota dealer in waco, texas, and they agreed to replace the belt free despite the mileage. Almost a year later, the same problem occurred. I went back to that dealer and they replaced it free even though they didn't have the obligation. About two years later, the same occurred. I have managed to get the truck inspected but I need badly to repair the belt, but I cannot afford it. Although the wear is near the waist, where one figures any fraying might take place, belt after belt should not happen. Also, my floor mat on the driver's side came loose a couple of years ago and it occasionally will bunch up and hit my accelerator and will on other times bunch up under my clutch and I am unable to shift into reverse.
