1 Electrical Jack problem of the 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 12/28/2017

My problem is on-going regarding blind-spots/poor visibility due to oversized side view mirrors. I have spoken to my Toyota dealer parts dept, the saleman, the head of the service department, Toyota manufacturing's customer service department; non of them are able to help me. They referred me to you. The over-sized side mirrors & housing cause very serious blind spots looking to either the driver's side or passenger side, blocking visibility over the front fenders when making a right or left turn. I have become very proactive if I am entering into an intersection to be aware if there is a vehicle or person in the intersection before I get there. Otherwise I do not see them if they are alreadyin the blind spot numerous times I have almost hit someone, children, or a car when turning because of this. Only luck and the other person's awareness that I did not hit them. Unfortunately, no matter how proactively aware I am of my surroundings, if a vehicle or person has already entered into the blind spot or dead zone it does not matter I will not see them. It happened again just recently. Toyota says they have no options for replacing the mirrors with a smaller version. I have put a cushion on my seat to raise me, but that is of little help. I need a smaller profiled mirror. Too me the need for such an over sized mirror and housing is unnecessary for everyday driving. It is a liability. It is just a matter of time before something happens. I do not want to have get rid of the truck, but I do not want to hurt someone. I am very concerned. I have seen internet postings of others having the same issue. The salesman said he is aware of this being an issue for some people with the prius. Please give a call with suggestions and help. Thank you very much, jackie.

2 Electrical Jack problem of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

The jack that comes with a Toyota Tacoma (2005 or later) with the off-road package does not work. The jack is too small to reach the lowest point on the vehicle to jack the truck to change a tire. Toyota does not advise the customer upon purchase of the vehicle that the jack is not compatible with the truck. I contacted Toyota customer service and they responded by saying they had tested the jack with the tire and it worked. I responded that the strut and leaf spring combination on the vehicle raised the vehicle higher and a standard jack would not work. Toyota refused to acknowledge they had provided a product that would not work with their vehicle. Potential danger exists if the operator is unaware of the jack issue and suffers a flat in a remote location and has no way of contacting anyone for assistance. It would seem obvious that vehicle manufacturers should be required to provide equipment that actually works with the vehicle design.

3 Electrical Jack problem of the 2008 Toyota Tacoma

Failure Date: 11/10/2007

Floor jack, when changing a damaged mud flap from the the front driver's side of the truck, I placed the floor jack where the Toyota manual recommends, after the whole (1/4in less than whole) extension of the jack was applied the tire was barely lifted above ground, this was done on my homes drive way a totally flat area with no inclination anyway and all proper security put in place and the floor jack was inclined. . . No accident occurred, but (big one but), imagine under adverse conditions and nothing else to do around to change a flat tire, wet or uneven ground, traffic, wind or anything else that can really create an accident, for this kind of truck the oem floor jack provided is not a proper one.

4 Electrical Jack problem of the 2002 Toyota Tacoma

When using the jack handle to lower the spare tire, it get lodged in the slots. The hooked shape renders it imposible to remove easily making tire changing very dangerous. The simple fix is to provide a second incert to be used to lower the tire. This would not have a hooked end thus avoiding getting hung up on the shield around the lowering slot nut.
